The Traitor of The Black Dragons
Evelyn
I was waiting patiently for Damian to arrive in my office. I have to play this right, or he will never leave. A couple of minutes later, Damian opened my office door and sat. He took a look around. "Do you sleep here?" He asked me.
"Sometimes if I'm working late and I don't see the point in returning home," I said.
Damian looked at me for a moment. "So, Evelyn, it's like this. I think there is something you're not telling me," Damian crossed his arms and looked me in the eye.
"About what?" I said. I was screaming on the inside.
"About why you left," Damian huffed.
"There isn't anything, honest," I said.
"Don't lie to me, Evelyn. I will take you back to New York with me right now and keep you there until you tell me," Damian threatened.
"I can't go back to New York!" I stood up from my chair. "I can't, please don't take me back to New York,"
"Then I suggest you tell me what I want to know. What is it?"
I slowly sat back down. "It's because of Jenna,"
"What has Jenna got to do with this?" Damian said.
"Jenna told me that you were going to kill me and that you used me as bait for Vinnie the night I was shot," I explained.
"And you believed her?" Damian scoffed.
"I didn't know who or what to believe; I was scared," I said.
"You think I had you shot?" Damian clenched his fists.
"Jenna said you did and that you would do it again. You were also cold towards me after we slept together, making me think that Jenna was telling the truth," I said.
"Jenna was not telling the truth. She's a fucking liar, and you're a damn idiot for believing her," Damian grunted as he pulled out his phone. "Pheonix, tell Bellamy to fuel up, we're leaving for New York tonight. I think I know who the traitor is,"
I wiped the tiny tears that left my eyes. "Damian?"
Damian turned around. "I've got nothing to say to you. Goodbye, Evelyn. Have a nice life," he said coldly.
I waited a few seconds til I heard a car leave, and I fell to the floor with my hand covering my mouth. Thank god he's gone. He can never know the truth. Damian would kill me if he did.
I closed up shop, taking another sigh of relief, and drove home. When I arrived at my house, I unlocked the door and entered. Home Sweet Home. I passed out in my bed and woke up the following morning.
Did last yesterday happen? Thank god Damian is gone; that was a close call. I started to make breakfast when I went to the kitchen; we could start the day right. I'm also taking the day off.
"Breakfast is ready," I called out. I waited for an answer, but I received silence. Where the hell is he?
I went upstairs and went inside a children's bedroom. He was sleeping soundly. "Good morning, sweetie. Breakfast is ready,"
A pair of the most beautiful eyes opened wide and smiled at me. "Morning, Mom. I don't feel so good," Ezra said.
"Are you ill? Come here?" I held my son in my arms as I checked his forehead, and he was burning up. "Let's get some medicine and lay you back down for a nap,"
I tucked Ezra back in bed and left his room. I hate leaving Ezra when he's sick.
But I must go to work for an hour to do the baking. I should call Sofia. I took out my phone and called Sofia. "Sofia, it's Evelyn, can you come over and look after Ezra for a while? He's not feeling well, and I need to go to the bank to take care of a few things,"
"Of course, I love spending time with the little man," Sofia said happily.
I checked on Ezra before I left, and he was sleeping. He looks a bit better now. I stand by the door and look at my beautiful child. Even though he'll turn two years old soon, Ezra is so small. He was born two months early and spent six weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It was touch and go for the first few days, but I still remember the day I brought Ezra home. My heart is filled with love and pride. He looks exactly like Damian, his father. Ezra has the same jet-black hair and cute dimples as Damian when he smiles. I have not seen Damian smile much; he looks like Avery from certain angles. That's probably why I named him Ezra Avery Halliwell. At first, I struggled with what surname to give him. Still, I knew when he got older, I would tell him about his father, and after many sleepless nights thinking about it, I put Damian's name on the birth certificate as the father.
I heard the doorbell ring, and I immediately opened it downstairs. "Sofia, thank you so much for doing this on short notice," I said, pouring her a cup of coffee.
No problem, you know how much I love caring for the little man," Sofia smiled.
I'll be as quick as I can. The people at the bank have a bunch of sticks up their asses," I chuckled. I drove to the bakery to get the money needed for the bank payments. A small part of me wonders what's happening in New York with Jenna and Damian. I shook my head at my thoughts. I need to get Damian out of my head; I'll never see him again.
My focus needs to be on Ezra. He is my world. There is nothing I won't do for him. I will protect him no matter what it takes, even if it leads to my death.
Damian
(Meanwhile)
"Is Jenna ready?" I asked Parker and Phoenix, and they nodded. "Bring her in,"
Gregory brought in a beaten Jenna, and she was handcuffed. She looked at me with fear in her eyes. "Please, Damian, it wasn't me, you have to believe me," Jenna sobbed.
"Oh, it was you all right. Take a nice long look at the bodies of your partners in crime," I growled as I pointed at the dead bodies of Vinnie and Johnny. "Vinnie and Johnny admitted it was you before I put a bullet between their eyes,"
Jenna gasped as she looked at Vinnie and Johnny. "No, boss, it was Evelyn, I promise you it was her,"
"Evelyn had NOTHING to do with this. You dripped poison in her ear until she was so afraid of me that she ran," I yelled.
"No, no, I was only having a laugh with Evelyn. How was I supposed to know that she would take it literally?" Jenna's body was shaking, trying to come up with any excuse, but I was not having it.
"Were you having a laugh when you let Vinnie and Johnny into my home, and they murdered my brother?" I growled.
"Avery was never meant to get killed. It was Evelyn. They were supposed to kill," Jenna admitted.
So, Evelyn was the actual target. That made my blood boil. I received my gun from its holster. "You betrayed me, Jenna, you're a traitor, and you know what happens to traitors," I smiled viciously.
"Boss, please NO!" Jenna screamed.
I pointed the gun at her head. "This is for Avery and Evelyn!" I pulled the trigger, and she fell to the ground dead. "Get rid of the bodies," I walked out of the warehouse, into my car, and headed for the cemetery. It's been almost two years, but I did it; I avenged my brother.
I stood before my brother's grave and placed a bouquet by the tombstone. "I got them, Avery. I told you I would avenge your death, and I have. I miss you, brother,"
When I went to bed that night, I started dreaming of Evelyn. She was telling me that she loved me, begging me not to kill her and not to leave her behind and help her. I tossed and turned in my sleep as I kept hearing, I love you, Damian.
My eyes shot open, and I quickly saw that I had woken up from my trance. What a fucking nightmare. I must get Evelyn out of my head; I'll never see her again.
