The Baby's Name and a New Threat
Damian
We were successful in blowing up the last safehouse of the Setaros and made sure that every last man and woman of the group was dead. I loved watching it light up like fireworks. We returned to the warehouse when we did the job, and I could never be more proud of my men. "Great job tonight guys," I smiled. "The Setaros are dead and buried, and they will never threaten or terrorize us again. Have a few drinks and get wasted, you have earned it, and we all have the day off tomarrow, cheers,"
"CHEERS," everyone cheered.
Pheonix and I sat by the bar while everyone was celebrating our victory. "Is Evelyn coming down to celebrate?"
"No, but I should call her," I said.
"Arina is on her way down here," Pheonix said.
"On the way down here?" I growled.
"Yeah, sorry about that. I tired to put her off, but Arina is very pursuasive," Pheonix said.
"You know the rules of this warehouse, Pheonix. Make this the first and last time she is down here," I warned.
"Come on, old friend, Arina is living with us. What more do I have to do to make her feel welcome down here?" Pheonix asked.
"Marry her, Pheonix. Make her one of us," I said.
"Are you fucking crazy?!" Pheonix gasped.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm not telling you to get married, idiot. I'm saying unless Arina's a Black Dragon or she's married to one, she's not welcome down here," I explained. "And live in bed buddies don't make the fucking cut,"
"Hey, honey," Arina cooed in Phoenix's ear. Pheonix left to grab Arina a drink; I said that I didn't want one because I wanted to be sober, and I called Evelyn. "Evelyn wants you to call her," Arina said as I pulled out my phone.
"I don't need reminding to call my own wife," I sneered.
"Touchy," Arina crossed her arms. "Isn't suppose to be a celebration?"
"What do you want, Arina?" I was getting annoyed just by being close to her. I swear if she harmed Evelyn or my children, I'll gut her and spread her entrails across the city.
"Damn, you seem very frustrated, Mr. Halliwell," Arina looked at me up and down. "Is Evelyn not keeping you satisfied?"
I placed my phone in my pocket. "What did you say? Perhaps I heard you wrong?" I growled.
"I mean, she is pregnant after all. If you ever need any extramarital affairs on the side, you know where I am," Arina winked.
"Are you for fucking real?" I growled again.
"Just calling it as I see it. You don't look like a man who can't be satisfied by just one woman, and I'm always up for a bit of no-strings-attached fun," Arina giggled.
Don't slit this woman's throat, Damian. Don't ruin a good night. Just walk away. I went to one of the private rooms and called Evelyn. "Afternoon, Evie, hope I didn't wake you,"
"No, I was just about to go to bed; how did everything go?" Evelyn said.
"Everything couldn't have gone better my love. The Setaros will never threaten our family and the Black Dragons ever again," I said. "Everyone is celebrating our victory. Do you want to come celebrate with us? I can send Parker to come get you,"
"I'm thrilled everything went okay, but I can't come down to celebrate with everyone; the baby is draining me. Arina went down, did you see her?" Evelyn asked.
I softly growled at her name. "Yeah, I saw her. I had words with Pheonix about bringing strangers down here,"
"She's not a starnger to Pheonix so play nice, please," Evelyn cooed.
"Arina is a stranger to me, and I'm the boss, so I make the rules here, my love. Tell you what, I'll consider giving her a chance. Anyway, you go to bed, I'll see you at home in the morning. We'll go out for dinner tomorrow night, just me and you," I said.
"I'd love that. I love you, Damian," Evelyn said.
"I love you too. I'll see you in the morning, Evie," I hung up and took a deep breath. I wish this night would end so I could see Evelyn again.
I left the warehouse at first light and returned home; Evelyn was wearing her pregnancy clothes and making breakfast. "Good morning, sexy," I whispered in her ear.
"Sexy? Really, Damian, have you seen me lately?" Evelyn said.
"I have, and you're the most sexist woman I've ever seen," I winked.
"I think we need to get you glasses," Evelyn snickered.
I laughed with her. "I missed you last night,"
"I missed you too. Ezra is outside playing with Coop, so it's just us," Evelyn smiled.
"So you're telling me that I have my wife all to myself?" I licked my lips.
"I guess so," Evelyn smashed her lips in mine, but our makeout session was short-lived when we heard a cough. "We are not interuppting anything are me?" Pheonix said. What a cockblocker.
"What do you think?" I sneered at him.
"Ignore him. So what are you guys up to?" Evelyn asked Pheonix.
"Not much, we had a late night," Arina answered. "So we're going to sleep for the day and go out for dinner tonight,"
I furrowed my eyes on Arina; I'm taking Evelyn for dinner tonight. Did she hear my phone call with Evelyn? "We're going out for dinner too," Evelyn said. "We should double date,"
"I think think the fuck not!" I clenched my teeth. "I want Pheonix to look after Ezra," No fucking way am I letting that witch ruin my night with my wife.
"Protecting Ezra is Coop's job," Evelyn said.
"Coop has been here all night, and I'm giving him a break. I want Pheonix to take over, and that's final," I said as I walked out of the kitchen. I smiled when I saw Arina's expression, which was less than pleased.
When I got out of the shower that connected to Evelyn's and my room, Evelyn was sitting on the bed waiting for me, and she was pissed. "Damian, what the hell is wrong with you?" Evelyn hissed.
"Nothing, why?" I said.
"You were extremely rude to Pheonix and Arina. Why do you not want them to come to dinner with us?" Evelyn asked.
"I want to spend time alone with my wife! Is that so bad? Does that still make me an asshole? You can't be made at me for this, it's kinda romantic right?" I said.
"I'll forgive you on one condition?" Evelyn smiled. "Tell me what you want to name the baby? Tell the name or you are on the couch tonight,"
"I want to name our daughter after my mother. My mother's name is Aerith, Aerith Volkov, but that was before she married my father," I said.
"Aerith, I love it!" Evelyn smiled.
"Aerith Evelyn Halliwell," I said. "That will be our daughters name,"
Evelyn nodded. "I love it, and I love you,"
"I love you too. Now get ready for dinner," I said as I went back into the bathroom, where my date night outfit was.
When I exited the bathroom with my suit, Evelyn was not dressed and looked terrified. "Why aren't you dressed, baby girl?"
"Do you mind if we stay at home tonight?" Evelyn said. "I have a very bad headache. It might be caused by the pregnancy,"
"Are you okay? Should I call the doctor?" I said, putting my coat on the rack.
"No, I'll be fine, just a good nights rest," Evelyn said.
"Get some rest, I'll put Ezra to bed," I smiled. "I won't be long,"
(The Next Day)
Evelyn
RIP, Evelyn Halliwell. All you can hope to do is to flail about in the little time you have left.
That text haunted me for the rest of the night. I got that text when Damian was getting ready for that date night, but I canceled it out of fear of our deaths. I don't know if Damian suspects anything, but I hope to play this off for as long as possible. I can't blame everything on the pregnancy.
"How are my two favorite boys," I said as I entered the kitchen.
"You look better, babe, did you sleep well?" Damian said as Ezra was eating breakfast on his lap.
"I slept okay, thanks, are you working today?" I asked.
"I am, but it won't be a late one. What's your plans for today," Damian asked.
"No plans," I said.
"It's your first day not having to look over your shoulder, and you have no plans?" Damian laughed.
"Do I not need a bodyguard anymore?" I asked.
"Only if you want one, but you are not in any danger," Damian said.
"But are you absolutly sure about that?" I said nervously.
"Of course, everything that threatens you and everyone I hold dear to me is dead and buried. Is something wrong?" Damian asked.
"No, why?" I shook my head.
"Since last night, you've been acting strange. But I won't dwell on that, I'm going to take a shower," Damian left the kitchen, leaving me to my thoughts.
