Seeking Revenge
Evelyn
Damian was driving us home from the warehouse after I spoke up against his plan for revenge. He had this look of rage and anger. I can understand how he feels, but he can't kill innocent people. "Damian, we need to talk," I said.
"Not now, Evelyn," Damian growled.
"Yes now, Damian, you said no innocent people would get hurt!" I fired at him.
"Shut the fuck up, Evelyn, I'm not talking about this now," Damian stayed focused on the road while grunting.
"I don't think I can stay of people are going to get killed," I said to him.
"So leave, no one is forcing you to stay. You can leave with no strings attached," Damian said.
"Really? You want me to leave?" I said.
"God damn it, Evelyn, stop putting words in my mouth. It's interesting to me whether you stay or go. Do as you please," Damian scoffed.
I took a deep breath and stayed silent the rest of the way back to the penthouse.
A few days passed, and I played games on my phone while eating. I heard the front door open, and Parker, Gregory, and Phoenix appeared. Their face showed no smiles. It freaked me out. "Hey, guys," I smiled at them.
"Is Boss in the office?" Pheonix asked me.
"I think so, why, what's up?" Without another word, they walked right past me. Okay, ignore me. What's going on? I might listen at the door.
As Parker, Phoenix, and Gregory entered Damian's office, I stood by the wall, listening carefully.
"So, what have you got for me?" Damian asked.
"Still no sign of Vinnie or Johnny. They have gone completely underground," Pheonix said.
"Well smoke them out!" Damian yelled.
"What do you want us to do?" Pheonix said.
"Start with Vinnie's wife. I want you three to take her to the usual spot and call me when she's there. Let's hope Vinnie loves his wife enough to come out of hiding. While she still has all her fingers.
The boys laughed. All her fingers?! I felt close to puking, so I carefully ran off, hoping they didn't notice my presence after eavesdropping on the plan to kidnap Vinnie's wife to smoke him out of hiding. A few days later, I followed Damian to the bar as he was yelling on the phone. I can barely determine what Phoenix is saying on the other end. "What the hell is the hold-up, Pheonix?"
"Vinnie's wife seems to be out of town," Pheonix said.
"Well, I don't care where she is, FIND HER," Damian yelled before hanging up.
I approached Damian when he saw me. "So what's the plan?" I said.
"About what?" Damian crossed his arms.
"Vinnie and Johnny?" I said.
"I'll start with Vinnie's wife and work through his whole family until he comes out of hiding," Damian said.
"But you said you would never hurt innocent people," I said, rubbing my arm.
"Vinnie's wife is not innocent," Damian said.
"Of course, she is innocent! She probably doesn't know what her husband gets up to," I said.
"You're so naive, Evelyn. You're not even married to me, and you know what I get up to," Damian said.
"Damian, I beg you, please don't do this," my voice was soft.
"Get over it, Evelyn. This is happening whether you like it or not. I will avenge my brother's death, and I don't care who I have to take down to get my revenge," Damian declared.
"You're a murderer!" I said when I lost my cool.
"What was that!?" Damian inched closer to me, and I could smell the alcohol on his breath—the anger glinting in his eyes. I tried my best to look in control. He wouldn't hurt me, would he?
"You're a murderer!" I repeated.
Damian threw his head back and laughed. "I'm the head of The Black Dragons. Of course, I'm a fucking murderer!"
I went to slap Damian, but he caught my wrist. "What's wrong, Evelyn? You didn't care that I was a murderer when you were in my bed," He pulled me closer and stared down at me. All I could see in his eyes were anger and pain. "Have you not got an answer, Evelyn?" he growled.
Before I could give him an answer, Damian pulled me to his lips. And I kissed him back. What the HELL is wrong with me? The man just announced he was a murderer without hesitation or even guilt. God only knows how many people he has killed, and here I am, kissing him, wanting him, Craving him! I'm just as fucked up as he is.
We spent the next hour having sex, and when I was getting dressed, I noticed Damian staring at me strangely. He walked up to me, cupped my face, and kissed me on the forehead. And without another word, he turned around and walked away. What the hell just happened?
I woke up the following day feeling restless. I can't stop thinking about what happened last night. I can't believe I had sex with Damian again, and on the bar counter, no less. But why was he acting so strange afterward? I took a quick shower before I faced him to discuss last night.
I left my bedroom, started walking towards his office, and heard shouting. I know it's Damian, and he is angry and talking on the phone, and it sucks that I can't make out what he is saying. Damian is holding his phone between his head and shoulders while putting bullets in a gun while he talks. He snaps the gun barrel shut and puts it in the waistband of his trousers. He takes the phone in his hand, and he seems angrier now.
"So, you have her?" Damian said as he got closer to me. "It's about damn time. I'll be there soon," he hangs up and walks towards me.
"Shit!" I race-walked, trying to make it look like I had just passed his office.
"Evelyn," Damian said, walking up to me. His arms crossed.
"Oh hey, do you need anything?" I asked.
"I need you in the warehouse today. I won't be there all day, and I have a big order coming," Damian said.
"Can't one of the lads do that?" I said.
"No, they'll be with me," Damian said.
"Where are you going?" I asked him.
"I don't have time to play 20 fucking questions, Evelyn. Let's go; I'll drop you off at the warehouse on the way," Damian said.
They must've found Vinnie's wife. I only hope she can come out of this alive. As Damian was driving me to the warehouse, I looked at him. "You found Vinnie's wife, didn't you?" He didn't answer me after a moment of silence. "Are you going to answer me?"
"No, change the subject," Damian hissed.
I stayed silent for the rest of the ride and met with the girls in the warehouse. "Hello ladies,"
"Well, if it isn't the Bosses pet," Sookie said as Jenna laughed.
"Whatever, Sookie," I rolled my eyes at her. "So, where are the lads gone?" I asked.
"Did Damian not tell you?" Jenna placed her hands on her hips. "He must not trust you as you think he does," Jenna laughed.
"Shut up, Jenna. They have Vinnie's wife, and they will try to find out Vinnie's whereabouts," Tala said.
"They won't really hurt her will they?" I gasped.
Sookie and Jenna laughed again. "You really don't know Damian at all, do you? Damian is the most ruthless and heartless man in the world and that was before his brother was killed. Damian will show no mercy; he will kill anyone that gets in his way, and that includes you," Jenna giggled.
"Don't think you and Damian will be some great love story. Because that will be your first mistake. Damian doesn't do relationships or love. He has no heart and feels nothing for anyone," Sookie said.
Their words are tearing me apart. But I can't show them any weakness. I feel like the only woman I can trust right now is Tala. Sookie and Jenna have proved to me that they can never be trusted.
"Damian loved Avery. How dare you say that he can never love," I snapped.
"Avery Halliwell is his flesh and blood. He also loves Parker, Gregory, and Pheonix like brothers. But don't think for a minute Damian wouldn't put a bullet in them if they dared cross him,"
"Okay, ladies, that's enough about Damian. Let's get this delivery sorted before the lads come to pick it up," Tala said, getting between us. "If we don't get this done, it will us getting the bullet,"
"I thought the lads were going to be with Damian all day?" I said.
"Parker, Gregory, and Phoenix are Damian's leading men. The inner circle, but there's more to it," Sookie explained.
"More?" I said.
"Yes, more, thousands in fact, across the world. You really are clueless, Damian is the king. He is the leader of the Black Dragons," Sookie said.
"But what do all these members do?" I asked.
"They all do different things. Damian owns lots of underground clubs and casinos and never forget the drugs and brothels," Sookie added.
"Brothels!?" I was taken aback; how does he own those?
"Importing and exporting of drugs, weapons, anything really. Now let's go, we have work to do," Tala said.
Sookie and Tala went forward to prepare the shipment, leaving me with Jenna. "I hope you don't think you mean anything to Damian? Damian can have any woman; why would he want you? You're only bait to Damian, and I'm surprised you haven't realized that already," Jenna sneered.
"Bait?" I rubbed my arm.
"There's a reason he insisted on YOU meeting Vinnie the night you were shot. He could have sent any of us, but he chose you," Jenna laughed.
"I don't understand," I said nervously.
"You will eventually," Jenna walked past me to catch up with the girls.
Was Jenna trying to say that Damian had me shot on purpose? That he used me as bait?
Is Damian planning to kill me?
