Sit tight, I'm enjoying this story, and I really hope everyone who has given this book a chance is enjoying this book with me.
When I have the need to point out some lessons in this book, I will. Once again, thank you 🙏
Ruki quickened her steps, opening the door to her other daughter's room. The slap must have hit Rekima so hard that her eyes popped open once. A frown appeared on Rekima's face. "Mother, what is going on with you? Why did you hit me so hard?"
Rekima then sat upright on her doubled flat bed. It was then she saw her mother's face extremely red. Her eyes swollen as if she wasn't done crying yet. Immediately, fear was written all over Rekima's face. "Mother, what has happened to you?"
"Rekima, how can you sleep comfortably when your sister hasn't arrived by this time of the day?"
The worried look on Rekima softened. "Mother, why worry over this. The maids went to get Rekiya but the Crown Prince said she would return whenever she is done."
"And you just went to bed Rekima? You didn't bother to ask what was going on?" Ruki said in a soft tone to her daughter, bringing her voice down. "What if I'm not here with you both Rekima? Is this how you will leave your sister all alone because I didn't give birth to her?"
"What!" Rekima cried out in disbelief. She jumped to her feet, almost reaching her mother's height. Confusion was all over her face. She reached higher and wiped a tear that dropped from her mother's eye. "Why would you say that? Rekiya is my sister. I will never ever abandon her. I love her so much, mother. And you will always be here for us. I know you have told me the birth of Rekiya because one day she deserves to know the truth, who gave birth to her, how she became a princess. I know you love her like your own, and even when she finds out, you will always be her mother."
"Oh, my Rekima. Rekiya is so lucky to have you." Ruki held onto her daughter's hands. "Now I know Rekiya is in safe hands. But Rekima, never be too relaxed whenever you don't see her. She's bound to get into trouble. I have been told Barbra doesn't even allow her maids to call her Princess in her palace. Have also been told the Crown Prince doesn't treat her well. She's not safe. I have a feeling your other brothers are not talking to Rekiya because they know something."
"Mother, I think it's because they think Rekiya is rude."
A loud sigh escaped from Ruki. She dropped Rekima's hands and moved a little closer to her. Ruki wrapped her hands around Rekima and the two hugged each other. Ruki doesn't know what she would do about her sister's arrival to Akugba, but she knew she had a job, and that is to protect Rekiya. "Rekima my daughter," Ruki began. "No matter how your younger sister behaves to you, never stop reaching out to her with love because after me, she has only you. Only you Rekima, and one day she will realise how much you love her more than anyone else."
"Yes, mother."
Rekima stepped back from her mother's hug. "Mother, let's go to the Crown Prince palace and get Rekiya. It is getting dark."
Ruki saw the worried expression on Rekima's face and smiled. "I'm sorry I woke you up Rekima. I'm sorry about the slap too. Forgive mother. You can go back to sleep. I will go."
A smile replaced the worried expression on her face. "Well, mother one of us will have to win this fight. Are we going together or not?"
A chuckle escaped Ruki's mouth, and her eyes became bright again. She reached for a top from Rekiya's mirror and wore it on her daughter's gown that was a little bit revealing. "You can follow me now."
Rekima laughed. "So, mother it's because of the gown."
The two grinned as they made it out of their palace walking side by side, with maids holding lamps behind them.
••••••••
"Your Highness, Rekiya's mother and her sister, Rekima are kneeling outside."
Prince Dermin rubbed his eyes. They were heavy from lack of sleep. It had been really difficult for him to sleep in these past months, but today, the breeze came to him differently. The way he felt so dizzy and wanted to sleep badly was as if he found the perfect sleeping drug after many he had used in the past.
As much as Prince Dermin felt like sleeping, he couldn't sleep. Though he slept for a while, he woke up in between to check the time.
Eight hours had passed since the physician treated Rekiya, yet she laid on Prince Dermin's bed, sleeping with all her body spread out on the giant bed. She kept rolling and rolling. She even placed her leg on Prince Dermin's head, crossing the other leg on top, sleeping peacefully like there was no tomorrow. This almost had Thopar burst into laughter, seeing how Prince Dermin swallowed his pride and chose to remain how he was so as not to wake her up. It was clear he made no move because he didn't want her to wake up before the eight hours the physician insisted on.
Prince Dermin stared at Rekiya. The red spots on her body were gone. No one would be able to tell anything happened to her. Her face looked even more prettier, looking as if she was smiling in her sleep, with her hair spreading all over his bed.
Min, she's a Monster.
She's a monster.
That girl you see is a monster, but we must keep it a secret. They can't know that we know.
Those words came back to Min as he became lost in Rekiya's beautiful image. She looked so pure. So fragile. So cute. So harmless. How could she be a monster?
"Your Highness, Rekiya's—"
"I will tell you if I'm going deaf Thopar." Prince Dermin yawned, barely covering his mouth as he rose from the wooden chair next to his bed. His back hurt, his butt was even more painful from sitting on the plain wooden stool for hours.
"Let them just carry her and stop disturbing us."
"Okay, Your Highness."
The door opened Instantly and both Ruki and Rekima walked in. "Your Highness," they greeted, but Prince Dermin was seen walking past them as if he heard nothing, leaving his own room for them.
Thopar came back to the room. "My Lady, the Crown Prince has given his permission for Rekiya's rest tomorrow. The Princess seems to have slept a lot today," he said and went out of the room.
"Mother," Rekima folded her arms, staring down at Rekiya whose face was dipped in the large bed. "I know how she can walk back into the house all by herself," she said, the slap her Mother gave her coming to her mind and it looked like the perfect way. A smile grew on her lips and she laughed when she realised her Mother had caught her.
"Don't you dare do that to your sister!" Ruki rushed to Rekiya's side, laughing.
The door opened again. Thopar peeped inside. "My Lady, the carriage is ready."
"Wow!" Rekima found her mother's eyes, grinning. "Mother, I thought they said he treats her badly. But here, she sleeps in his bed, now his carriage. The power of Rekiya. The lioness!"
Ruki couldn't hide the smile growing on her lips. "We can be at ease whenever Rekiya is here now. Come here, let's carry your sister," she said.
A/N
Guys, what we don't know is if the Crown Prince confessed what happened to him the day they were looking for him on his 10th birthday. It seems the Queen told him Rekiya is a monster and must not associate with her too much. Which means, these people know who Rekiya is. What game could they be playing? Because I don't think Ruki is aware of what's happening behind close doors.
Rekiya seem like a happy child spoiled with love.
And Rekima seem to know the truth about Rekiya for future sake.
What do you think is going on guys?
Thank you so much for reading 🥰🥰
