Chapter Twenty Eight: The Death of her Mother.

You are reading the Birth of Rekiya.

The death of her mother was caused by who?

"Shhhhhhhh." Rekiya placed her index finger on her lips. She was staring at the girl who was now dragged with them. Rekiya shook her head, knowing how much the young girl would have loved to be with her mother, but it was too risky to let her walk into the room alone.

Concubine Barbra had made her way into the house when the young girl had stepped out again. And the only reason that made the young girl not scream was because of Rekiya. The first day she saw Rekiya, she had become curious because she looked just like her. And when the portrait of her sister came, she told her mother immediately that she had met Rekiya and prioritize how lovely she was. Of course, she was waiting on the day both mother and her will meet Rekiya. Never pictured it this way.

She was seeing her sister again. It was so obvious Rekiya had no idea of who she was.

She couldn't understand why Rekiya was with two strange men and a lady this time, hiding in the dirtiest corner of their almost damaged wooden rented room. The younger Rekiya joined them and saw through the holes they had been peeping from.

The scary laughter that belonged to concubine Barbra filled the air, provoking those listening to her to roll their eyes in irritation. "So, this is where you have been hiding? Is this how far your sister can go for you?" She turned around carefully, knowing she wouldn't be able to stay for long in a place that looked more like a storeroom. She was having difficulty breathing for closing the windows so as not to be seen.

Reba came forward. She guessed Barbra wasn't just an ordinary person from her look of elegance. Her choice of cloth, including her neck chain that surrounded her fat neck like a chained dog. Different rings shouting lousiness on her ten fingers. Excuse me, who are you? screamed directly from Reba's eyes. Barbra's heavy makeup could scare a baby to tears. Her dominating appearance had introduced her when she mentioned her sister. No doubt that this woman knew who she was, but Reba was not the type to be intimidated by anyone. She met Barbra's eyes. "Who are you young lady? And I do not know what you are talking about. You have come into my house for what?"

Barbra's eyes were obviously not trained to hide her feelings because anger rose from them and swept Reba up in disdain for disrespecting her. How dare she call her a young Lady!

The rage in Barbra's eyes looked more like an angry dog trying to bite, but staying in one position. Her expression was more like she had been reminded of her root and what she really worth without the costume on her body. She hated the pride that sat on Reba's shoulders. The condifence in Reba's voice annoyed the hell out of her. And for the fact that she knew what Reba worth and who she really was almost made her neck break as a result of anger. She stood before a merciless warrior who killed like a butcher. Even Reba's arms that looked like that of a man with how strong they appeared scared Barbra a bit.

She was a bit intimidated by Reba's arrogance.

Barbra snatched the piece of paper from her wicked subbordinate who stayed in the room with her. She was her one and only very loyal and dedicated maid who helped her carry out all her wicked acts and supported her mission to make her son the Crown Prince.

The piece of paper was the one Reba had written to her sister, Ruki about her arrival to Akugba.

"I know who you are, Reba." Barbra called Reba by her name but Reba flinched not. Her eyes met Barbra with readiness. Her shoulders doesn't feel intimidated at all.By now she knew who Barbra was when the maid came forward to carry out one of the gifts she had inherited from her master. "Your Highness why are you--"

"Young Lady, how dare you!" Reba grabbed the hand of the maid before she could succeed hitting her face. She tightened her fingers around her wrist, staring at the fragile hand that must have carried a tray of food and wine for years. "You are foolish for acting without the permission of your master. You have made her look stupid. Do you think she came here without knowing who I am? You are such a fool."

Reba dropped the maid's hand, brought her leg forward, only to raise it up slightly. If this maid had not been times three of Reba, maybe she wouldn't have fallen that hard and felt so much pain that made her scream out her lungs. Reba's eyes were back on Barbra. It was her punishment for being stubborn still.

Rekiya smiled from where was. She was fascinated by Reba's boldness and quickness. The woman was beautiful, but her hair was beginning to turn grey little by little. She was tall, and the colour of her skin must have blinded Barbra's eyes because she was fair in complexion. She looks like mother, Rekiya thought in her mind and fell in love with the woman who stood her ground in the room.

A smirk appeared on Barba's face as she received the long paper her maid came with, catching Reba unaware as she untied and released the paper.

It was the image of Rekiya.

The same portrait her sister, Ruki had sent to her.

But how? How had she gotten into Barbra's hands?

Barbra look pleased seeing the look of confusion sitting on Reba's face. "Don't stress," a smile of victory sat on her face knowing she had gotten Reba where she would be willing to listen to her. " You should know I have my own copy. Just like I got my hands on every of your letter you've sent to your sister. Including this." She wrapped the paper back. "I think you know how to address me now." Barbra played with the rings on her fingers.

"Do you know what happens to anyone who lies to the King?"

"You would leave my sister out of--"

"Never!" Barbra barked like an angry dog, refusing to be intimidated again. "I'm ready to tell the King the whole story, and I mean it!" She yelled. When Reba didn't response,a smirk appeared on her face. It was her turn to look into Reba's angry eyes. "Good woman, I see you love your sister just like she does love you. But anyways, years ago, one of the King's women came back with a child and said... Your Majesty, I have found a child near the bush, but I discovered lately that it was all lies." Barbra's eyes were happy and she laughed, irritating everyone listening to her with her once again.

Something told Rekiya this woman was in danger the moment she lost all the boldness in her eyes at the sight of what Barbra showed her. It seemed Barbra had succeeded in making her bow to her threats. What could they be talking about? Rekiya thought. None of them could see what was in the paper and Rekiya thought of many things it could be but could only conclude that the Reba was being threatened except from Prince Min who knew the whole story.

Without further explanation Prince Min knew this was Rekiya's mother. His mother, the Queen had told him about Rekiya's mother who was Ruki's elder sister, and how she gave birth to a monster child. He wondered, but pushed the thoughts away because it was clear Rekiya had no idea who the woman was. Would she ever know, Prince Min thought and slightly stole a quick glance at Rekiya who was right beside Tia the whole time. He saw himself admiring the same beauty Rekiya had inherited from her mother in a much larger way. Though the woman might look old and worn out with muscles that should be inherited by men, still Prince Min thought she was beautiful and brave. No doubt, Rekiya was like her true mother. But the hair, definitely didn't come from her Mother.

Rekiya would not stop peeping if it was safe to go out and ask for help but around the compound stood two palace men. They looked like an ordinary men but obviosly they were one of the soldiers working in the palace.

Suddenly the unexpected happen. All eyes almost budged out of their sockets. The men's hearts could have been made of stone. But Rekiya, Tia and the younger Rekiya almost lost their breathing by the horrific and heart breaking arrow that went flying over their heads. Out of seven of them including Barbra and her maid, only the younger Rekiya that didn't witness the scene of how the arrow chose Reba's neck. The rest almost lost consciousness at the sight of the arrow penetrating into Reba's neck horribly. Shock written on everyone's faces. They gasped in fear.

From where?

Nobody was in sight.

Their faces had the most fearful expressions.

It wasn't about the arrow.

They had witnessed that so many times.

It wasn't about witnessing anyone at the point of their death also, but how quickly, and immediately Reba's fair skin turned dark charcoal. A burning charcoal that gradually dried up, up to her bones, her hair falling off to the ground made Barbra and her maid scream at the mystery.

Barbra's yell almost brought down the building that was barely standing. She almost had an heart attack at the sight of what just happened. Her heart must have ceased to breath but came back to life when her and her maid collided unknowingly, birthing the scariest scream as they hugged each other for safety.

When the door burst open revealing the palace soldiers standing outside, Barbra remembered there was a door, running towards the it like a mad woman.

This was the height of wickedness Barbra had ever seen. She had only come to take advantage of Reba after discovering their secrets. She wanted to use that opportunity to bring Ruki to her side, but who would have thought of killing Reba that way. For someone who just came to the Kingdom, yet had a wicked enemy as such.

Barbra's breathing still weren't stable when she met Ruki the moment she got out. Barbra was too much in shock to tell Ruki what had happened when she demanded what she was doing there. Barbra ran to her carriage instead.

Where Rekiya was, tears had made it down to her cheeks. The shock had met all of them but only Tia and Rekiya had not moved their hands away from their mouths, and the younger Rekiya who had been knocked down remained unconscious.

Prince Min and his cousin knew what that was. A forbidden magic had been used to kill Reba. When this magic is used, the person is rest assured his or her victim can never survive. How this was still being used surprise Prince Min after his father had forbidden magic and announced anyone who is caught with powers should be killed. This had been the reason he never allowed it anymore. It was solely used to carry out evil acts. Prince Min must have had his stony heart dissolved cause his eyes were still in shock at what just happened.

Ruki's feet wouldn't go on from where she was by the door. Her mouth gaped open at the disaster that met her instead of her sister, Reba. "Reba!" She turned around shouting. "Reba, where are you?" She turned around for as many times, looking around for her sister. Her heart seem to have stopped breathing as her hands were shaking vigorously. "Reba!" She still kept on shouting. Her voice shaking now as she burst into tears. She was now screaming, covering her eyes from seeing the death of her sister.

"Ehhhhh!" Ruki threw away her wrapper as if fire was burning underneath her body as she jumped up, only to sit on the dusty floor throwing her head tie away. It looked as if Ruki had lost her mind. She found it difficult to recognise her won sister, Reba. Her sister was supposed to be there waiting for her as they have discussed when she sent Rekiya's portrait, but now, she does not understand what was going on.

"Ehhhhh! Akugba has done nothing but hurt me!" Ruki shouted. Tears washed down her makeup face as she began to soliloquies. "They couldn't attack her with a sword because they knew they were no match. They knew! They knew! Bastards They resulted into Magic. Is Akugba this evil!"

But magic?

Ruki couldn't believe there was something as outrageous and evil as this in Akugba Kingdom. The same Kingdom that was said to be full of peace.

Suddenly another loud yell took over the room, but the maids dragged Ruki from touching her sister, Reba. "This is my sister! Why are you all dragging me." She cried, almost pleading for them to allow her. "Akugba has killed my Sister o. Barbra has killed my Reba. Ahh! Who have I offended. I'm not dragging anything with anyone! Am I?" Her cry moved her maids to tears as much as they tried to comfort her.

Rekiya ran too fast before she could be stopped. "Mother," she called.

When Ruki turned at the familiar voice, she gasped. How she suddenly stopped crying was a mystery as she tried to use her body to shield Reba's horrible body. She didn't want Rekiya to ever know how her real mother had died.
