Chapter 20

Cassandra's POV

**TWO WEEKS LATER**

I stood on the balcony looking at the view in front of me.

I had finally moved out. Xavier reluctantly agreed that it was the right thing to do.

I now have my own place with enough space for the babies. I'm only a month away from my due date.

Last week Elizabeth gave birth to a lovely baby boy, he is so bubbly, they named him Oliver.
Ellie still isn't used to the idea of having a sibling. She asked Elizabeth why they didn't take him up for adoption after she found out her best friend was adopted.

Last night Lynne and Ethan came over for dinner. It was time we put it behind us. Maybe Ethan had truly changed, that didn't mean I trusted him. Lynne's baby bum is more visible now. If she told me from the very first all this would have been avoided.
I can't help but feel betrayed. I can't look at him without feeling anger and resentment.

Although I have moved out, it still feels like I'm still living with Xavier. He comes to sleep over almost every night. He even hid his pajamas under the couch after I told him I didn't want to see any of his things in my house.

This new house gives me a view of the beach so I could look at it all the time.

I feel like my life is finally falling back into order. I haven't received any text messages after that day. I feel like I'm finally happy.

I heard the sound of the front door being unlocked. I looked at the clock to see that it was 1 p.m., the time Xavier usually came over during his lunch break from work.

I walked to the living room to take a seat. Xavier walked in holding a bunch of paper bags.

"Good afternoon," he said walking in.

"Good afternoon," I replied.
"What are all those paper bags for?" I asked.

"I brought lunch, I wasn't sure what you wanted so I brought a variety of foods." he answered.

"That can't all be food," I said.

"And some baby clothes," he said.

We already had a room full of baby clothes and toys, every time I told him not to buy more he kept buying more to prove that he can. We already had clothes for when they turn two.

I can't wait to meet my babies.

Xavier laid out the food on the table.

"We have some salad," he said listing the food he brought.

"You brought a sald for a pregnant woman," I said sarcastically.

"You can have some chops," he said.

I pushed the box away taking the sushi instead.

"Eat up, I have a surprise for you,” he said.

After eating Xavier cleared up the table.

“Please get dressed, I need to take you somewhere.” He said.

I stood up from the couch going to the shower.

Coming from the shower Xavier had already made himself comfortable, eating popcorn, his shoes removed while watching a rugby match.

I threw a pillow at him diverting his attention.

“Let's go,” I said.

I was already dressed in a blush pink dress.

He frowned at me getting up from the couch, putting his shoes on.

We were finally ready to leave and this time I wasn’t the one hesitating.

We got into the car driving to Xavier’s new house.

He finally sold the old one. It carried so many bad memories and I just wanted to move on from the past.
He brought a smaller house since he wasn’t using most of those rooms. The new house was limited to two guest rooms where by the old one had six.

His house wasn't far from mine, he could walk there if you wanted.
Xavier opened the gate using the remote.

Something about the atmosphere of the house seemed different today.

I got out of the car, the wind blowing through my hair.

I lead the way while Xavier took a few things from the car.

I open the door, the room dark and the curtains closed.

Xavier now has a lot more work to do since he decided to expand his business. When he wasn't sleeping at my house he was at his office.

"Surprise!" I heard loud yells in unison. The lights switching on.

The room was beautifully decorated, colourfull ballloons floating in the room. Everyone clapping their hands.

The words "It's your baby shower!" were  written in bold on the wall.

Elizabeth was in front, with a flower crown on her head.

A few of the women from my Antenatal class where there too and so was Lynne.

"Congratulations," Elizabeth said pulling me into a hug.

She led me to the backyard, to the garden. The tables were on the grass, it looked almost like a jungle with wild flowers everywhere. There was a small stage on the centre of the tables.

Lynne placed a flower crown on my head giving me a small smile then walked me over to a table.

We had a few stage performances from comedians and played a couple baby shower games.

Since I insisted on finding out my babies gender at birth, all the presents I received were unisex.

Charles wouldn't stop calling Elizabeth, she left him at home with the children and his mother along with a nanny. Little Oliver wouldn't stop crying, so she ended up leaving earlier.

I felt a tap my shoulder, turning around I saw Xavier.

"Come on, there's something I want to show you." He said, a wild grin on his face.

I looked around everyone focused on Lauren who was giving a speech, they probably wouldn't notice I was gone.

Xavier held my hand helping me up from the chair.

He lead the way into the house, we walked into the corridor until we stopped at a door.

There was a ribbon on the front and so did the room next door to it.

"I already started decorating the kids room, hope you like it" he said.

He opened the door reveling the white-painted room.

On the corner a cot bed was situated, a couch next to it and on the opposite corner a wardrobe.

The words 'Caleb's room' were on the wall.

"Do you like it?" he said.

I stared at him for a moment not knowing how to react.
I finally snapped out of it and punch him on the arm.

"How dare you!" I yelled furiously. "What kind of a sadistic asshole are you?"

"What? I thought you would like it?" he said.

"Not only did you have the audacity to name my child without my consent, you also went ahead to find the gender of my children even though I insisted otherwise!" I yelled.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think you would have a problem with it." he said.

"That's the problem Xavier, you don't think about anyone else other than yourself!" I snapped.

I turned around walking past him, he quickly pulled me back into his arms.

"Leave me alone Xavier!" I yelled.

I was really mad at him and I didn't want to see him right now.

He released his grip on me letting me go.

I speed walked to the guest room locking myself in.

I was angry right now, when I'm angry I end up saying things I end up regretting which is why I always isolate myself to calm down.

I sat on the bed taking deep breaths.

"Please Cassie, I'm sorry." Xavier said knocking on the door.

"Go away!" I yelled back.

"Please, I'm sorry I didn't think you would take it like this. I don't want you to end the day like this." He said.

"Just go away, why don't you get that." I said, I threw a pillow at the door.

I heard him exhale deeply then walk away.

Maybe if he thought about others more instead of himself we would have less problems. I'm getting fed up with him.

Suddenly, I felt a cold cloth or my mouth and nose.

My body froze in panic.

I look to see a hand on my mouth. I couldn't breathe, I tried screaming but no sound could escape my mouth.

I started feeling dizzy and weak, trying to escape I fainted everything going black.
