Chapter 16
Xavier's POV
Antonio was laying in a bath tub full of ice cold water with ice blocks (suggested by Daniel).
Antonio was still passed out from the hit he got from Daniel.
I watched as he slowly opened his eyes looking at us in horror.
"You finally awake," Daniel said sardonically with an electroshock weapon in his hand.
Antonio stared at us frightened, his teeth chattering. I almost felt sorry for him. He was going to deal with Daniel and he was a psychopath.
"Let's get started," Daniel said putting a pair of gloves on. I looked at him confused wondering what he planned on doing.
"This is how it's going to work. You talk, if you don't I'll electrocute you. You in water so it's a painful way to die." Daniel said, no hint of emotion in his voice.
Daniel was into illegal businesses. Torturing people was part of his daily routine.
Antonio laughed, his body shivering in the cold water.
"What do you want me to tell you, how his wife was in bed?" Antonio said then continued to laugh.
"Wrong answer," Daniel said then punched him in the face.
"Let's do this again." Daniel said.
Antonio laughed his noise bleeding and a tooth shaking.
"If anything happens to me your dear wife will pay for it," Antonio said.
"That's it," Daniel said.
Daniel took the electroshock weapon and electrocuted him.
Antonio cried out in pain, his body shaking and his hands clenched onto the bath tub.
"Fine I'll talk," Antonio yelled crying out in pain.
Daniel stopped, a smirk forming on his face.
"I was paid to do it," he said breathing heavily.
"By whom?" I asked, walking out of the corner.
Antonio didn't reply still catching his breath.
I moved closer then punched him in the face.
"Who paid you to do it?" I yelled grabbing his collar.
Daniel took a few steps back smirking at me.
"It wasn't supposed to get this far. She paid me to drug her and pretend I slept with her so you would leave her." He said.
"Who paid you to do it?" I repeated, punching him again.
"Your mother!" He yelled.
I loosened my grip on his collar stunned by his answer.
"What?" I said.
I had definitely heard wrong.
My mother would never do such a thing.
"Your mother paid me to do it, I swear!" He yelled.
"My mother would never do such a thing, tell me the truth." I said, I punched him again nearly bumping his heard against the bath tub.
"Calm down," Daniel said. "Unless you want to kill him now, if he dies you'll never get your answers." Daniel whispered.
"Why would I lie to you," Antonio yelled.
"You've done nothing but lie to me," I yelled.
"Think about it Xavier," Daniel said facing me, trying to calm me down. "You mom can be a little crazy at times, not to mention overprotective." He whispered.
"Are you defending him!" I yelled. "My mother would never do such a thing. He is just trying to manipulate me like he has always done." I said.
Antonio was still breathing heavily but not he looked like his breathing was starting to slow. His face pale.
"She is going to change the test results once the babies are born." Antonio said. "She is not the person you think she is." He continued.
"Stop lying!" I yelled.
Daniel stopped me from punching Antonio again, placing his hands on chest pushing me back.
How dare he say such lies about my mother. It was her who convinced me to help him out when no one else believed in him, even though I knew it was a dead end.
My mother would never do anything to hurt me.
"Calm down Xavier," Daniel said. "Why don't you go home while I deal with him." He suggested.
"I'm not leaving until this asshole gets what he deserves." I yelled.
"Fine," Daniel said. "Help me get him out of here. We'll tie him up somewhere and let the police deal with him." He said.
"Fine," I answered.
We dragged Antonio out of the bath tub and into the back of Daniel's car (trust me it's a nasty place to be in).
We made sure none of his neighbors saw us.
Daniel cleaned the place up not leaving any evidence against us.
Daniel drove his car with Antonio while I drove in mine.
We stopped at by just outside the city near the main road.
Daniel tied Antonio up onto a tree then made a anonymous call to the police informing them about Antonio's location.
Daniel then stepped onto the phone and throw it away not wanting the call to be traced back to him. He probably had over phones
"You don't want to be here when the police gets here." Daniel said.
I got into my car and he in his. We drove into our separate directions.
Everything that happened today replayed in my brain like a broken record.
I can't believe he would dare accuse my mother of such things. He has the nerves to speak so ill of my mother.
I drove into the driveway to find Cassie putting her bags into a cab.
"I'm screwed," I whispered.
My parked my car onto the side.
I can't let her go, not like this.
She glared at me as I got out of my car walking towards her.
"What do you want? I'm leaving your house." She snapped continuing to put her bag into the cab.
"Please don't," I whispered to her.
She glared at me in a challenging manner then continued loading her bags into the cab.
"Please don't leave," I stopped her.
"What else do you want Xavier!" She yelled at me frustrated. "You are so dipolar. First you want me to leave now you want me to stay." She said.
I took her hands into mine but she quickly pulled them away.
"I'm really sorry Cassie, for everything I've put you through. I'm sorry I didn't believe you before but I do now. Without a doubt." I said.
"Xavier, I can't do this anymore. I'm leaving." She said.
"Please don't, I need you." I said putting my hand around her waist then pulled her closer.
She slapped my hands pulling away.
I went on my knees taking her hand into mine. She looked at me stunned, I was never the type to beg but I was willing to do anything to make her stay. Deep down I was still in love with her.
"I'm sorry, please give me a second chance. I promise I will never hurt you again." I begged.
"I can't Xavier, not after everything." She said, her eyes tearing up.
"I promise to love you and to be with you no matter what. Just like I vowed." I said.
She started crying, tears rolling down her cheeks.
I stood up from my knees then wiped her tears away caressing her cheeks.
"Everything will be ok," I whispered to her.
She pulled back placing her hand on her stomach and the other on my shoulder for support. Squinting her eyes in pain.
"Is something wrong?" I asked. "What do you want me to do?"I said.
I looked at her in panic. I couldn't live with myself if anything happened to her or the twins.
"No," she said. "It's just the babies kicking again," she said, a small smile forming on her face.
"Come on, let's go inside." I said.
I scooped her into my arms then walked into the house.
