Chapter 2

Zia Knight POV

I woke up early morning to begin my morning routine. I start with a light exercise in my condo's mini gym. Once I did that I made my way again for a long bath, bubble this time!

When I'm done with my bath I made my way to my walk-in closet and pick a simple outfit for the day. A white long-sleeve blouse, dark skinny jeans that fit to my leg like a second skin with my brown ankle boots. I put a light natural look make up while I leave my naturally straight hair down. Damn, I look good!

I made my way down to grab some fruits to go. I can always have something to snack on and coffee from the restaurant.

I got to admit that I am so in love with my 'Family Night' restaurant. The decor look fantastic with the greenery view outside the glass window. What? I love glass window, don't judge!

The restaurant has a clean, brown interior look but the glass window gives the natural sun light that helps in giving the cozy vibe to the restaurant. We also kids corner where the kids enjoy their time with the other kids by playing with the mini jungle-gym set, million balls, mini tables and chairs for drawing and coloring, puzzles and board games.

It has been three days since the opening of the family restaurant. It has been busy and crowded and I can't be anymore happier and proud for the success we have so far.

The staffs have been working hard and the feedback we received for our food and services have all been positive. As promise, I have been involved with the restaurant. I usually help out as one of the cooks during the night but waitressing during the day.

When I help out in the kitchen I get to live in my passion as a cook, whereas when I help out waitressing I get to experience the joy in interacting with my customers. I even get to joke around with the kids once they're over from being shy towards me.

Avery has been managing the restaurant really well. Despite not having previous experience as one, she has proved to me that she adapts really well to her role. She struggle a bit now and then but with my help and mentoring she get things done easily.

The clock has just hit 4.30 p.m when Avery came to me and whisper for a permission to pick up Lucas.

"Hey, sorry, it slipped out of my mind but Lucas's nanny can't make it today so I have to pick him up and sorry, but do you think I can bring him here today? I don't have anyone else to look after him for today? please? I promise this will be the only one time, please?" Avery sounded desperate while I give her a blank look. I want to scare her a bit just for fun, but by her panic stricken look I don't think she'll catch up to my joke anytime soon. I sighed loudly.

"Avery! relax! I love little Lucas I don't mind if you go to pick him up and bring him here. Heck, forget about Nanny let's have him here for every time you have to be here for your shift. Now shoo, go! Go get my baby!" I stick my tongue out at her while she sighed in relief.

"Thank you! I will be back and hell no! that's my baby not yours!" she stick her tongue out quickly before she took her purse from the staff room.

"Wait, how are you going to get him? You got your car with you?"

"I don't have a car. I will just take the taxi here with him just give me 30-minutes at most." I rolled my eyes at her reply. I drag her by the hand back to the staff room. I left her hands while I went to my locker to grab my car key out.

"Do you know how to drive?" I asked her quickly.

"Yes, I just don't have a car. Why?" she tilted her head to the side in confusion. I handed the key to my Mercedes-Benz CLS before I nodded my head towards the car park.

"Go drive my car to pick my baby" I smirked at her shock expression. I rolled my eyes and drag her out again, but this time towards the car park. I shoved her lean body from the staffs' exit door before I said to her.

"Hurry! don't make my baby wait any longer" that seem to snap her out of her state of shock.

"My baby! but thanks heaps Zia. I will be back soon with your little Lucas." she sprint to my car but I did not miss the high-pitch squeal came out her as she made her way to the car. I shake my head at her silliness.

Just as promise Avery came back to the restaurant with little Lucas within 30-minutes. I can't help but grin when I heard the squeal coming from Lucas as he called his nickname for me loudly.

"Zizi!" I turned around and spread my arms as if he understood me he lunged at me for a hug. I hug him tight before I tickle him for a good 3-minutes. Well, he has to breathe so 3-minutes is enough torture for cuties like him.

"Lukey! How was your day?" I asked him as I pick him up and carry him on my hip before making my way towards behind the counter where the deserts display are.

"It was good! there was a new boy. He was very quiet and a little scary but as soon I shared him your chocolate brownies from yesterday we become friend!" he said excitedly. I laughed at him before I blew raspberries to his chubby cheek as he laugh out loud. Avery was shaking her head as she smile from watching my interaction with her son. I stick my tongue out at her and Lucas who saw this follow my action. She chuckled at us before she returned to her manager's office.

"Well, I'm glad you have a new friend now. I guess he likes my brownies huh? Well, why don't you choose something from here for today then choose something for you and him for tomorrow lunch?" Lucas started to squeal once again. His little jump and clap from his excitement is too contagious, I can't help but laugh before I ruffle his hair.

Lucas eventually picked the brownies for his today's desert since he gave it away to his new friend. He picked the strawberry jam and chocolate coated donuts for tomorrow's lunch to share with his new friend.

For an hour I spent my time accompanying Lucas while he eat and talk about his day along with helping him with his homework. Afterwards he made his way to interact  and play with the kids at the kids' corner.

"Damn, I think he forgot about his own mother" said Avery as I tie my apron in the kitchen, about to begin my role as a cook. I laugh at what she says while she chuckle along.

"He will never forget about his mom. Damn, Lucas is too smart and mature for his age what have you been feeding him?" I joke around with her. She snorted from what I said and I raise an eyebrow at me.

"Coming from you? You graduated high school at 15 then off to take business in college graduated at 17 then off to culinary school in French until 19 before you make a success out of yourself" she listed with her fingers to make her argument. I rolled my eyes at her before I slap her in the shoulder playfully.

"That was only because my twins and I have what you called 'Photographic memory'. We excel in our education but the shit thing is we hardly feel challenge by it. Thankfully I get to finish things fast and get to go on my culinary school. I feel challenged there, since it has to do more of improving my cooking and creativity skills than using much of my brain." I answered Avery with a smile as I walk down the memory lane.

It's true, since it's more about practice for excellence using my physical strength than much of my brain strength. I feel challenged, entertain and overall it was so much fun.

During my culinary school I did made some friends but I didn't keep in touch with them. I was too pre-occupied in finding the 'next thing to accomplish' and making it happen. That was when mom suggested the idea of opening a restaurant, following my passion in cooking and food. I took her idea and in the end was too into it to care about anything else such as social life. Luckily now that I have accomplish enough, I can begin my social life. I have Avery and little Lucas with me right now. But I do hope for more good-friends or at least people to consider as friends in the coming future.

With that thought in mind I resume with my cook job until the restaurant closed which is 9.30 p.m. As soon we done cleaning and preparing for tomorrow, I drove Avery and Lucas back home before I made my way to mine.

The day once again ended positively. I hope everyday can be as good as this.
