Chapter 13: Surprisingly Easy 6-8-16

As they finally walked into the zoo, Nicki was already pulling her dad's hand and leading everybody towards the new gorilla exhibit. She knew this zoo very well, but held the map in her hands to tell where the new exhibit was. Right next to the monkeys and tropical birds she saw.

"This way! No stopping everybody," she kept saying very loudly.

Noah, Doyle, and Robin followed only because Nicki wouldn't let them leave.

"Dad we want to go look at a different animal. There will probably be too many people by the new exhibit today and for the next week. Can we please like... split?" Doyle tried explaining to his dad that was still being pulled away by Nicki.

Before his dad could answer, Nicki said in a whinny voice,

"No way, you are coming with us. We are almost there and I don't want you, Noah, or cousin to miss the giant gorillas!"

"Fine, one quick look, but there is no garenty we will be able to see them because of the crowds," Doyle said getting a little upset. Every time he spoke he had to talk loud because of how loud it already was. They had important mission to get started and they didn't have time to look at gorillas that they probably can't see because of the overpopulated zoo at the moment.

As they got closer to their destination, there were more and more people everywhere. It got to the point where everybody was shoulder to shoulder and moving quit too slow for Nicki's patience.

"Excuse me! Little girl coming through that wants to see new gorilla's!" Nicki kept yelling loudly.

As Nicki's dad was saying to people,

"I'm so sorry, excuse us, sorry ma'am, sorry sir,"

Meanwhile Noah, Doyle, and Robin kept walking behind them and kept quiet. Finally they all safely got to the gorilla exhibit to be let down because all they saw was an empty exhibit. It looked clean and new. It was filled with grass and a little river. There was a beautiful waterfall falling into the river area. There were also giant boulders and jungle looking trees everywhere to make it look like home to a gorilla. There was a sign near the exhibit that said,

"Sorry, the gorillas will be back in a while. They are getting feed in the back. Thank you for your patience,"

But Nicki was not patent one bit. She sat down on the ground and started asking random questions. The kind you ask when you are bored. Asking for food, toys, and what time it was.

"Well dad, we are going to go look around now. Is that okay with you?" asked Doyle, hoping the answer would be yes.

Before Doyle's dad could answer him, Nicki said,

"No, you are waiting with us for the gorilla's to come back,"

Doyle's dad then said to Nicki,

"I am going to let them go look around at the other animals, okay. After all, it was their idea to come to the zoo today. You could be at home right now, but you are here having fun and getting to see a gorilla for the first time in person!"

Nicki finally gave in and Noah, Doyle, and Robin had their chance to leave. They elbowed their way out of the enormous crowd eventually and got to a large sign with a map on it.

"So it looks like the nursery/ vet office is this way. Not too far away from here," Robin said pointing towards that spot on the map.

"Okay let's go," said Noah. The first thing he had said since at the zoo today.

They all walked along the path towards the nurse/ vet building. On their way there, they passed all the wild cats. They passed by tigers, lions, ocelots, jaguars, leopards, panthers, caracal, and even a lynx in a cooler part of the zoo.

They finally got past all the cats and saw the building they needed in front of them. They walked inside. The only thing in there was a nursery filled with seven baby animals. The animals that come here were the animals that are found abandoned or injured.

"Look how cute they all are!" Doyle said pointing at a tiny hedgehog and then towards a tiny sea turtle.

"Focus, we have to find the vet which is probably around back. Let's go look," Robin said but still stole a quick look at the baby animals too.

They all left the small building and went to the back of the building where they found a door that said vet and EMPLOYIES ONLY in big capital red letters. Robin put her ear to the door and said she heard some noise, so she knocked on the door. Nobody came, so she knocked again. Just as Noah was about to open his mouth to say something, the door opened to a lady dressed in a white coat and white pants. She also had a white nurse hat on and a mask around her face. She took off the small mask and said,

"What do you need? We are very busy in here today so please make it quick,"

"Hi, I'm Robin and these are my friends," she started by gesturing to both Noah and Doyle, "We have a quick, but strange question to ask. Do you by chance have a small vile of blood we could have?" Robin knew this sounded crazy, but she knew she was doing it to help a creature in need.

"And may I ask why you need it?" asked the lady.

"It's kind of a secret that we can't tell, but I can tell you that it is going to a good cause," Robin said.

"Well, I'm not really supposed to give anything away or let you in here, but since we are so busy today I will give it to you, so we can both go on with your day peacefully. But please don't tell anyone or I may get in trouble. I will be right back," Then she shut the door and the kids waited as smiles creep upon their faces.

Then she came back a minute later with a tiny vile of blood about 3 inches high and 1 inch wide. She handed it to Robin and said,

"We are done testing with this, so I don't see any trouble in giving it away,"

"Thank you so much!" said the kids all at once.

"You're welcome, have a great day and please don't tell anyone about this,"

"We definitely wont, bye and thanks again," said Robin happily. She tucked the vile away in her bag safely.

"Yah! I hope this works!" said Doyle happily.

"Me too. That was surprisingly easy!" said Noah sounding excited.

"The hardest part is still to come though," said Robin.

"Yah like leaving the zoo. Nicki is going to take forever here!" complained Doyle.

"Well, you could be surprised. Maybe the gorillas already came out and she is ready to go," said Robin trying to be positive.

"I hope," said Doyle.
