I never thought it would turn out like this. I shouldn't have to choose the destiny of my life when i'm only 16. It shouldn't have ever turned out like this.

My name is Molly Jolen, i'm 16, and from Looneyville, Michigan. When I was 15 the Nazi's came and took over the whole town. After the Nazi's came I didn't know if my life would go back to normal ever again. All I remember about the night that my father and brother were killed was seeing their bodies on the ground. It was around 11:00 P.M and I heard a scream coming from the outside of my bedroom door. All I heard besides the scream was my mother yelling at me to stay in my room. Of course I didn't listen and I opened the door and saw my brother and father laying there on the ground dead. My mother had a gun pointed to her head and the officer told me if I wanted my mother to stay alive I would have to go with him to the Perilous which was the chapel. As soon as we got to the Perilous the large man said I would have to make a huge decision. Who knew that decision would be the biggest decision of my life.

I remember when I walked into the Perilous we all sat down and I realized there were two pots on the stage in front of where we were sitting. I asked my mother what the pots were for but she didn't answer me she told me to hush and pay attention. I saw a man walk out onto the stage and he looked about my age. He started talking to all of us about the decision we were going to have to make. Eventually he told us what that decision was going to be.

"The decision is family or independence," he said.

   Then he told us he would give us five minutes to decide what we were going to choose. After the five minutes were up I had finally made my decision. I was going to choose family.

  When it was finally my turn to go up the guy asked me what I was going to choose, all I worried about at that time is what he was going to choose because as soon as I looked into his eyes I felt an instant spark.

  "Young lady i've asked you already what do you choose?" he said.

  "Oh sorry, I choose family," I said.

  "Now you may get into the family pot and dip your head under the water to signify that you've chose family," he said.

  As I dipped my head under the water I started to wonder if I had made the wrong decision. As I got up I saw my mother walking up to me with her arms wide open.

"Good job honey," my mother exclaimed.

"Thanks mom it was a really hard decision to make," I said.

Later that night my mother and I went back to our house and I decided I would go for a walk to clear my head. As I was walking I heard a strange and familiar voice.

"Hey over here I need to talk to you," the strange voice said.

"Who said that?" I asked.

"Me over here in the baseball fields," the strange voice yelled.

I started walking over to the baseball fields and and I had seen the man I saw earlier standing on the home plate.

"Hey what are you doing here?" I said.

"Trying to clear my head from all the nonsense that has gone on around here for the last couple months." he said

"Hey me to but I was also trying to figure out if I had made the wrong decision," I said.

"You made the right decision trust me on that," he said.

"Thanks for that but can I ask you a question?" I said.

"Yeah sure what is it?" He said.

"What is your name?" I said.

"Oh sorry about that, my name is Shawn, Shawn Tibbetts," he said.

His name even sounded wonderful. I wanted to tell him I liked him but I figured he didn't like me back.

"Hey I'm really starting to like you more then a friend," Shawn said.

Oh no did I really just say that to the girl I might be falling head over heals for. I mean I had only met her that day and I had only talked to her for 10 minutes.

"Sorry if that turned out like I was being a little pushy but I have liked you since the moment I laid my eyes on you when you walked onto the stage I had to see you again thats why I followed you home and hid in the baseball fields waiting for you to walk by or at least hoping you would walk by," Shawn said.

"Well thats not creepy at all, but I have fallen in love with you to, I fell in love with you when I walked onto the stage and looked into your eyes hoping that there was an instant spark between us," I said.
