Paring: Dean Winchester x Hunter!Reader

Plot: Y/N was with her little sister while hunting a demon, they ran into the infamous Sam and Dean Winchester, while her little sister was fangirling, Y/N was meeting sammy and deanie beanie (that's her nickname for him) after a while they got feelings for each other! (AND THE REST IS UP TO YOU.)

Flinging your elbow backwards you heard a deafening crack as it collided with the vampire's jaw, their grip loosened on your throat and it's body hit the floor. You twisted yourself around to face the bloodsucker, stake held up protectively, they weren't quite unconscious but slightly dazed by the power of your blow. "It doesn't have to be this way" you said to them quietly, trying to calm them down "I can help you, let me help you" you pleaded with them. The vampire just hissed at you, presenting it's blood-covered fangs, and pulled itself off of the ground.

"Why would I give up a perfectly good meal?" they chuckled, you cocked your head to the side at their arrogance and readjusted your grip on your stake, "Have it your way" you smiled back. They swiftly lunged at you, claws bared. As soon as they were in reach, you dropped your arms from their position and pushed the vampire's hands upwards so they narrowly missed your shoulders. They stumbled forward, expecting to have buried their nails into your chest but getting quite the opposite, you took advantage of their fall and plunged the stake into their heart.

The vampire expelled an agonising screech and went limp, "I'm sorry" you muttered to them and loosened your grip on the stake, letting their body slide to the floor once again. You looked down at the undead corpse which writhed on the floor in pain, gasping at the large piece of wood protruding from their chest. You knelt down beside them, feeling pity for this monstrosity that struggled for air like a wounded animal.

"There is another way" you said to them, knowing that they weren't dying from your attack, just injured, "You don't have to feast on humans, let me help you" you begged them again. Even though you were a hunter, you hated killing anyone, especially when they could be saved. The vampire smiled painfully and said "But it tastes so good". Your expression of pity quickly turned to disgust.

"Y/N" you heard in the distance, you glanced to the direction that it came, you placed your knee on the vampire's chest so it wouldn't escape. "Hazel? What are you- Get back to the car!" you shouted at your little sister that was standing in the door way of the dimly lit barn. "I wanted to help" she whined, she was about to continue her sentence when you cut her off "This is no place for a child, do as I say" you barked at her, mainly because you didn't want to kill someone in front of your little sister, you were supposed to set an example.

"I'm not a child!" she wailed, stomping her foot on the ground. Throughout the duration of this argument the vampire had began to giggle and cackle to itself, slowly getting louder, "Weak" it screeched, "You human's are all weak". You knew it was beginning to heal, and you doubted you could take it down again considering it was the nest leader.

"Hazel, I won't ask again" you warned, not taking your eyes off of the creature beneath your knee. You waited to see if she would leave but heard no movement. You sighed to yourself. She was just as stubborn as you.

Picking yourself off of the ground, you placed your boot on the vampire's shoulder, and un-clipped your machete from it's holder on your thigh. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you closed your eyes and swung the machete down on the vampire's neck, using your body weight to help the momentum of your swing.

You wiped the monsters blood off of your forehead and turned to your sister, her face was pale. Sheepishly looking down at the floor, you made your way towards her, muttering only a simple 'Come on' as you left the barn. You didn't look behind you to check if she was following you, she always was, you concentrated on getting the blood off of your skin.

Unlocking the door of your Jeep Wrangler, you watched as your sister walked slowly towards you, you sat in the drivers seat with the door open waiting for her to reach you. You didn't exactly know what you were going to say but you opened your mouth to speak none the less "Hazel, look-" you started but was cut off by a beam of light that illuminated the entire area. Squinting, you looked towards the source, unable to see or hear anything past the blinding light and the sound of an engine.

When the light finally faded, you saw a black Chevrolet Impala, you sighed and rolled your eyes knowing this car all too well. You glanced back at your sister, the colour was starting to return to her face and her jaw was, metaphorically, hitting the floor. You used your index and thumb to rub your eyes in annoyance, hearing footsteps getting closer to you.

"Uh, Sammy, check the barn would you" you heard a gruff voice say, followed by the sound of two car doors slamming just out of time with each other. The footsteps walked together until one pair stopped and the other continued off into the distance. "Hey, are -uh- you okay?" the voice asked, you gazed up from your hands and looked the man in the eye, "Yeah, I'm good" you said with a quick pace and an uncaring tone.

You and the man you'd heard only stories about held eye contact for a second, defensiveness evident on your face while you rested your head on your fist. He eyed you with confusion and then intrigue.

"Holy shit, it's Dean-fucking-Winchester!" your sister shouted, "Hazel!" you scorned "Don't use language like that" you furrowed your eyebrows in annoyance, you knew she was only cussing to impress the man in front of you.

You heard Dean let out a throaty chuckle followed by "Hazel, I presume?" he put his hand out for your sister to shake, she beamed with excitement as she grabbed the man's hand and shook it vigorously "I'm Dean" he smiled down at her small figure, "And that there's my brother Sammy" he continued, pointing at the tall man that had just exited the barn and began walking in your direction.

"Oh, I know all about you guys" your sister spoke a bit too quickly, "You guys are basically famous!" she gushed. You rolled your eyes at your sister's excitement, yeah, you knew who they were, but you didn't care for them, they were ruthless and barbaric.

"This is my sister Y/N" Hazel said, gesturing at you which brought Dean's attention back to you, "Hey" he simply said and you nodded as a response, wanting very little to do with these men. "The barn's clear, loads of bodies though" Sam explained to his brother, he said the second part in a hushed tone as he cause a glimpse of your sister, obviously not wanting to upset her. Little did he know you had just literally decapitated one of them while she watched, maybe you shouldn't have done that but your sister was nearly 13, she was entering that 'moody-teenager' phase and if she was going to ignore you, when you're trying to protect her, then she would have to learn the hard way.

"Was that you?" Dean asked you, nodding his head slightly towards the barn, "Yup" you simply replied, Sam and Dean shared a look. "That was a whole nest of vampires" Sam stated, "Yup" you said again. "There's at least twelve bodies in there" Sam continued, this time you made eye contact with him and just gave him a look that said 'Do I need to say yup again?'. Sam raised his eyebrows for a second in astonishment and then stuffed his hands into his jacket pockets. "Looks like you did our job for us" Dean continued his brother's train of thought, no one replied, you all fell into quiet.

"Y/N's really good at killing monsters" Hazel said to break the awkward silence, both Sam and Dean looked at your sister and then at you, "Not that I like doing it" you murmured under your breath. "Don't feel bad for them, they're not really people" Dean said, transferring his weight from one foot to the other, "Is that what helps you to sleep at night?" you raised your voice at Dean. He glanced at his brother as if to say 'How do I un-piss her off', and then silence fell again.

"Thanks, anyway" Sam finally said after clearing his throat, "We appreciate every hunter out here doing what they can" he smiled at you, you respectfully nodded back at him with a weak smile and they turned to head back to their car.

"Wait, don't go!" Hazel called after them, taking a few steps forward. Sam and Dean stopped walking and turned back around to her, "You guys are, like, my idols" your sister pleaded with them, "I wanna hear the stories you have to tell" she continued. Dean cautiously eyed you, feeling the tension you were bringing to the situation. "I doubt I'll ever get to meet you guys again" Hazel bargained with them.

Sam blinked a couple of times, unsure of what to say. You glanced towards your sister, seeing the desperate look on her face and remembering how excited and happy she was when the boys first arrived, "We'd love to stay, it's just there seems to-" Sam started but you cut him off, "I think it's a good idea". Everyone went silent, you could feel Sam and Dean staring at you, but you continued to keep your focus on the ground.

"Do you mean it?" Hazel asked you, she had such a bounce to her voice that you hadn't heard in so long, she deserved to be happy. "Yeah, I mean it" you reassured her, "Better us hunters stick together eh" you tried to make light of the situation.

"Well, Sammy and I were gunna head to a motel around  from here after we finished off this hunt, but since you did it for us I'd say the least we can do is offer you girls a bed for the night" Dean proposed, Hazel beamed up at you, her face the pinnacle of child-like joy, "Please, Y/N, can we?" she whined. You glanced between the two men and your sister, eventually shrugging your shoulders and saying "Yeah, why not".

Upon hearing you agree, Hazel ran up to you and hugged you tightly around the waist, you put your arms around her and squeezed her tightly, it made you happy to see her happy. When she let go she started off in the direction of the Impala. "Excuse me miss, where do you think you're going?" you shouted after her, giving her the 'mum-tone'.

"Come on, Y/N, it's the impala" she said, widening her eyes at you as though it was obvious "Hazel-Meredith you are pushing boundaries you know I don't have" you warned her. It was then that Dean stepped forward, "Hey, if it makes you feel better, I'll take your sibling and you can take mine?" he offered, you looked at Sam who just shrugged and said "I don't mind". You took a minute to ponder your answer but eventually caved in "Fine! But I swear to God Winchester if you hurt my sister-" you threatened but he spoke over the top of you "Do I look like the type of guy that would hurt a child?", you didn't get an opportunity to answer before Hazel groaned "I'm not a child!", Dean laughed slightly and corrected himself "I'm sorry, a young lady", "Better" Hazel said and got inside the car.

Yeah, she was definitely your sister.

The first couple of miles with Sam we a tad awkward, neither of you knew what to say, but eventually you started talking about Lord of the Rings and found that you had quite a bit in common. Before you knew it you were at the motel.

You slammed the door as you got out of the car, waiting for Sam to follow then pressing the button on your keys to lock it. The Impala was no where to be seen, and as though he sensed your sudden panic Sam said "Don't worry, they'll be here soon, Dean probably drove slower than normal because of your sister". You appreciated him trying to reassure you but the mention of his brother made your blood boil. "Yeah, 'cause he's so trustworthy" you snarled under your breath, you hadn't meant for Sam to hear you but the shift in his body language meant he had.

"Look, I don't know what your issue is with Dean, but he's a good guy" Sam said defensively, you clenched your jaw in irritation, "He's not like all the stories, neither of us are, just give him a chance" he continued. Sure, you disliked Dean greatly, but at the end of the day he was Sam's brother and you didn't want to bad-mouth his sibling. You would hate it if someone spoke poorly about you to Hazel.

Before you could reply, you saw the Impala turn into the motel parking lot. 'Finally' you thought. As soon as they had parked the car, you began walking in their direction, not wanting to leave your sister in a Winchester's care for longer than you had to. Hazel got out of the car carrying what seemed to be a large brown bag, before you could get close enough to read what was on it Dean took it out of her hands and ruffled her hair, they were just out of your earshot but he must have said something to make her laugh by the huge smile on her face.

"And what took you so long?" you snapped at Dean, crossing your arms over your chest. Dean looked startled by your sudden appearance, but slightly lifted the bag in his arms as a response, it had a large yellow 'M' on the front "We stopped off to grab dinner" he replied.

"Y/N never lets us have McDonalds" Hazel said once you were all sat down in your room, she was sitting cross-legged next to you on the bed, and Sam and Dean accommodated the small couch. "Because it's bad for you" you explained, eyeing up the fries in your hand before chewing on them, "But it's so tasty" Hazel whined. You rolled your eyes at her, recognising the tone of her voice to be the one she did before she stropped, "It's tasty, but it'll give you diabetes" you tried to joke, out of the corner of your eye you saw Sam try to cover up a laugh, he obviously agreed with you.

"Mum used to let me have McDonalds" you heard Hazel mutter, the mention of your mother felt like a punch to the chest, you looked at your sister in astonishment, you'd never expect her to go for such a low blow. You put the rest of your food down on the space between the two of you and got off the bed, before you opened the door to your motel room you breathed out a simple "I need air" and promptly left, letting the door swing shut behind you.

You'd managed to climb on top of your Jeep like you used to when you were a kid, but this time you laid back on the roof to gaze up at the stars. Originally you had been watching the shadows dance in the light of your motel room window, even though she'd upset you, you were still being protective of your sister. You guessed that's what the older sibling was supposed to do. Now, you'd lost interest and tried to find comfort in the balls of gas above you.

"You okay?" you heard from the ground level, you propped yourself up by your elbows to see who it was. Upon seeing Dean's face dimly lit by the moonlight, you sighed and laid back down, "What do you want?" you asked harshly, there wasn't any one else around so why did you have to pretend to be nice.

"I don't know what your problem is with me, but I'm trying to help, you could at least show some appreciation" he snapped back, apparently he didn't care about pretending to be nice when no one was around either. You sat upright again so you could look at him as you spoke, "You don't know what my problem is?" you laughed and shook your head in disbelief, "How about the fact you're a selfish murderer who cares no less about the lives he ruins than the women he sleeps with?" you barked, that had to hit him hard.

Dean nodded and looked away from you, letting out a brief 'Ah' before clenching his jaw and swallowing hard, "That's what you've heard about me then" he finally said. You didn't reply, just stared at the man who had seemed so headstrong and arrogant only moments ago, but now was the definition of vulnerable and broken.

"Despite what you've heard, is that the impression I've given you today?" he asked you, meeting your eye. You thought for a moment, focusing on the green shade of his left eye, then the right, and then back to the left, defeated you said "No". There was a silence between you.

"I thought you would at least understand what it's like to have to be the strong one, the one everyone hates, the one that even your younger sibling hates sometimes" Dean let out, you had a feeling that this had bubbled up inside him for a while now, so you let him vent. "They hate you because you're too strict or wont let them do what they want, but you're only trying to protect them" he continued.

"You're only trying to fill the place that your parents left behind" you added, you weren't looking at Dean anymore, you were staring back up at the motel window. Even though you had only said one sentence, you felt as though you'd caved open your chest and all the hurt and pain you'd kept secret after all these months had fallen out onto the roof that you were sitting on.

Maybe it was because of the comment your sister made, or perhaps it was because you'd never been without your sister's company since it happened, but you felt as though you were finally being allowed to grieve. You'd been so caught up in your thoughts that you hadn't even noticed the tears that were rolling down your cheeks.

You felt the Jeep move and rock a little and then the body heat of someone next to you, "Hey, it's okay, it's okay" was all he said, he put his arms around you and you leaned into it, putting your head against his shoulder and letting yourself finally feel.

"It'll get easier" Dean said, moving your hair out of your face, "You never get over it, but it gets easier to live with, you accept it" he explained, "It'll still hurt, and you'll still miss them. Hell, it's been over 20 years since I lost my mom and thinking about her is still painful, but you find ways to deal with the pain".

It was in this moment that you realised that he was showing you a side of him that he'd probably never shown anyone, not even his little brother. You raised your head from his shoulder and gazed up at his face, he was also looking into the motel window, if it wasn't for the moon rays hitting his slightly tanned skin you may have not seen the glistening streaks that were running down his cheeks as well.

Dean Winchester, monster killer, world destroyer, Knight of Hell, was crying.

He must have felt your eyes on him because he turned his head to face you, "We do it for them" you weakly smiled at him, he nodded "Yeah" he said, his voice breaking. It was then that it occurred to you, you and Dean Winchester were one in the same, the man you'd just spent the last couple of hours hating was a mirror image of yourself.

Something about this moment, something about the vulnerability he was showing you, either that or the way his eyes shone in the moonlight, made butterflies take flight in your stomach. You had never found a way to express how you felt about your parent's deaths, you'd never found anyone who understood the hardship of carrying not only the weight of an immediate family member's death, but also the happiness of your sibling.

You had no idea what came over you, but you leaned into Dean's face, tilting your head to the side. As though you were mesmerised, you moved slowly, you saw a flash of something in Dean's eyes, he put his hands either side of your face and pulled you into him, connecting his lips with yours.

Through all that pain and grief, you finally found someone that understood. Maybe someone that you could call your own, you found Dean Winchester.
