Ever since the night I found out Marquee was my mate, the both of us have been inseparable, he's there at my shop in the morning, at lunch and dinner time to just drive me home or keep me company when I'm going through all the stacks of paperwork that pile on my desk everyday, he's been an an angel in wolf form, if that were possible. It wasn't hard for Linc to let go because of Marquee, I guess they talked and Marquee might have pulled the whole mate card on him to get him to back off, I don't know but I'm glad he did.

"I have to go, I need to do something really quickly, and I think you need a break from all those documents you refuse to let me help with." Marquee exclaims as he stands up from the couch in my office, he had been there since lunch, eaten most of my snacks and lunch, I'm sure he has high metabolism that burns food in three hour cycles, so he needs the food, wolf traits. "I can just finish this tomorrow, I'm tired." I whined as he chuckled and gestured we get out of there. "So I will drop you off by your house?" He questioned and I nodded as I swept my hair back and put on my shoes, I had chosen comfort over fashion.

"Need anything on the way?" I asked as he handed me my bag and phone. "I think I'm supposed to ask that." He teased making me blush. I was used to taking care of people not being taken care of, it was something different for me and I didn't know if my slight co dependency would end. "Yeah, you are and no I don't." I replied as the office was locked, Kale had already locked the safe and cleared the shop before she knocked off so all we had to do was turn on the alarm and lock a few doors.

"Now that is fresh air, breath and see if you don't enjoy it rather than staring at your laptop all day." Marquee teased as I looked at him through my glasses, he chuckled when I didn't obnoxiously inhale the air like he wanted. "For your information, doing all that paper work, keeps people employed and fed." I asserted and he shrugged it off. "Never said it didn't but you can't paper yourself into the ground, we all need some rest." His statement was true, everyone needed rest at some point, even me and even if I was a wolf, I still needed it.

"I agree with you mister Nile, and I will see to it that I rest." I conceded as the large beta hugged me and placed kisses atop my head. "Good boy." He teased with another kiss. Marquee never lacked in affection, he smothered me in his scent every chance he got and I knew it was his wolf clawing to mate but we weren't animals, well partly not animals, we couldn't just jump into bed and do it, there was a lot of ground to cover before that.

In public more so, the beta didn't care if people were looking or not, he wouldn't and won't hold back in affection, at first I thought it was just to make me feel better but I realized that he didn't want to love me in the dark and I reveled in that goodness, I never wanted to be someone's dirty little secret and I wouldn't reduce myself to being one for the sake of a mate, we both would be deserving of better, but Marquee was better.

"Let's get you home bella." He called out opening the door for me, once I was inside he walked to the other side and slid into his car, at first I couldn't handle how large the car was but for someone as large as the wolf beside me, it was perfect. "So I need a favour." Marquee called out demanding my attention, I couldn't help it, I just loved listening to him.

"Granger's birthday is coming up next week, its a day apart from my youngest sister's birthday, as you know my nephew doesn't like celebrating his birthday because of his father but he's turning twenty and I wanted to do something small and intimate for him, could we use your house, that backyard of yours is spectacular." The wolf mumbled his request and at each turn I couldn't help think how cute he was.

I always knew Granger and Marquee were related but for Granger's sake I never wanted things to be weird so I separated them into different relationships, Granger is more of my child and Marquee is my man, well now my man, and I never put both men in a position whereby their relation would complicate their ties to me. "Yeah, um no problem, I already got his birthday present, well four of them but whose counting and I would be glad to host his party." I replied the man driving and his smile was worth more than anything in that moment, he was happy. "Thank you." He stated as the ride went on with my mind already planning the day.

"Here you are bella." Marquee exclaimed as we stood by the door. "You have a thing to do, so tonight I'm not letting you in." I called out and he whined. "I blame myself for that but I'm a patient man, I will see you tomorrow, goodnight sweetness." He conceded as he placed a kiss on my forehead, funny how we actually hadn't kissed. "Goodnight hercules." I teased before walking into my house, oh how perfect life was.

Then the blissful feeling drained away, I knew someone had been in my home or they were still in here, with as much stealth as I could muster I made my way to the kitchen, opened the lower cabinets and pulled out a very specific knife. The scent got stronger as I walked into the lounge, and there he was, the reason I had nightmares.

"Give me a good reason why I shouldn't kill you right now." I called out dangerously as the man turned away from looking outside, toward me with a glass of whisky in hand. "Hello to you too Xavier, my you have grown, absolutely beautiful." The alpha stated as he walked toward me and gestured that we sit down, when I felt someone behind me I ran on instinct, plunged the knife I had in their upper thigh, swiped them off their feet and knocked them out with a kick. "My you have blossomed, none of your wretched family could have had you become such a formidable wolf." The alpha sweetly spoke as rage burned in my veins, all I wanted was to kill him.

I pulled out the knife in the knocked out guard and held it toward the alpha. "Tell me what you want right now before I do something much worse to you, for ten years I've had peace as you ran yourself into the ground, I know nothing is left of the pitiful Akari pack, have you come here to massacre wolves again?" I spat all my words in rage as the alpha's face contorted into different emotions.

"Oh dear sweet Xavier it seems I'm not the only one whose been keeping tabs, I haven't come to die, I know this pack well, before I even walk into their territory I would be dead, they are ruthless, but you know that, I've come for a different reason love." The alpha explained as he looked me in the eye, he was tired, I could see that.

"Do they know who you are, do they know what you can do, you're a prodigy in yourself, a genius, but do they know your past, how broken it is?" He taunted as he looked at me. "That's none of your concern, and if you've been watching me which I presume only happened recently when you found me in Sandbury, you would know a few things." I replied harshly as he laughed loudly. "Smart, as always, you're right, its none of my business, after all the scent of the strong beta reeks all over your body, who would've thought, you, the second and last son of a dead beta family would be mated to him, but I must concur he's perfect for you, I approve." The large alpha mumbled as he stood yet again and faced me.

"I don't need your approval, I need you to go back to hell, and leave me alone, my life is more than perfect without you coming to stain it." I harshly rebuked and he nodded. "I will accept that, I will not apologize for killing your pack, you and I both know there was no saving them, you have thrived far more and unattached from them, I commend you for it, and as you may think I'm not here to kill or cause trouble rather the opposite." He explained as his words made my confusion worsen.

"What is that exactly, what good can you give anyone." I argued and he chuckled. "My sins have come to settle their scores, my pack is gone and so is my precious Damien, the Crow line is almost done, I am the last one, I now know how that feels, but you aren't alone." Alpha Crow stunned me into silence as he spoke, I knew I was alone, he had killed them all.

"Your sister Kia, never died that day, Damien saved her-." He paused as the words resonated in my head, how did I not know, how had they hidden her from me. "Before you accuse me of treacherous things you must know that your sister was the one who aided Zakari and I in our endeavours, in exchange that she would be allowed to be with her mate, my son." Alpha Crow finished shocking me completely, why would she do it, that was our family, visions of that day run through my mind, the fire, the wolves, women, children, all cut up, burnt and some non recognisable, it was a massacre.

"She died along with my son recently, Damien challenged an alpha who turned out to know a long list of wolves who if they found us, would murder us, and they did, they spared one life though." Alpha Crow explained as the door to my home opened and in walked a guard with a young boy in his arms, he couldn't be much older than four, he looked just like my sister except the slightly chocolate brown tips of his hair. "This is Jude, and I've come to entrust him with you Xavier."
