Two

No one talked about what happened that morning. Dad had headed off to work to get some documents that he left in this office. Evelyn and Dr. Stone offered to help Kiera find Nate but she said no. She didn't even bother to go looking for him either. I asked her why. She told me she wanted to stay with Paisley in case Nate never did come back. I reluctently left her after that.

Trinity left for her date after she told us to tell Nate that she was sorry. I could tell that Trinity felt horrible after the argument. We all did even if we weren't involved. Collin thought it would be best if him and I went to Larry's Fro-Yo Kingdom to get our mind off things. I wanted to stay home, but fro-yo sounded really good.

We hoped in the car, Kato sitting in my lap. Pets weren't aloud in the shop but Kato loved car rides. Sometimes, the employees would give him the rest of the milk in their fridge.

We drove for a while in silence. I looked out the window, watching buildings and trees flash by. I was hoping to find a flash of black fur in the sea of oak trees, but I saw nothing.

"Would you like me to turn on the radio?" Collin asked. I turned my head around. "I feels really awkward in here."

I nodded. Collin pressed a button on the radio. The radio announcer spoke excitedly.

"And now, here's a very special treat for all you Backstreet Boys fans out there! Here's their new hit single, Chances from their upcoming album, DNA!"

I remember Mom would listen to the Backstreet Boys when I was little. After she died, I would listen to all of their CD's on her CD player. Their songs always seemed to get to a girl's heart. I let out a sigh and listened to the song.

What if I never run into you? What if you never smiled at me?What if I had noticed you, too?And you never showed up where I happened to beWhat's a girl like you doing in a place like this?On a quiet night, what are the odds? What's a guy like me doing in a place like this?I could have just walked by, who would have thought? What are the chances that we'd end up dancing?Like two in a million, like once in a lifeThat I could have found you, put my arms around youLike two in a million, like once in a lifeWhat are the chances?

"I thought these guys stopped singing after a while," Collin said during the second verse. I regconized the voice as AJ.

"I guess their time isn't up yet," I said.

"I guess not."

The song ended as we pulled up into the parking lot of Larry's Fro-Yo Kingdom. I put Kato in the the passenger seat. I told him to stay put. He sat down and purred. I gave him a quick hug before I followed Nate inside.

High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco played in the shop. Collin grabbed my hand and pulled me to the fro-yo dispensers. I grabbed a cup and placed it under the vanilla and chocolate swirl. I pulled the lever and watched the fro-yo land in my cup. For some reason, watching the delicious treat land in the paper cup was very satisfying. Collin put some chocolate and strawberry in his. He loaded up on all the sweat and sour candies while I just added some hot fudge, oero crumbs, and a nilla wafer to mine.

We weighed and paid for our fro-yo and found a spot by the window so we could see the car. Kato watched us from the car window. He looked almost jealous that we were eating and he wasn't.

The two of us chatted about different things: what we wanted for Christmas, how work was going, any plans for spring break. It seemed really normal, and I liked it.

"Can I ask you something?" Collin said. He looked almost scared when he asked me.

"Yeah. What is it?" I put from fro-yo in my mouth.

"Why do you want to go to college?" His face went red. I was taken aback for a second but I calmed myself. I didn't want to start an argument like what Trinity and Nate had.

"I've always wanted to go to college. It's been my dream since I was nine."

"Yeah, but what do you even want to do?  You didn't seem to like anything in high school."

"Well, I was a bit behind so I couldn't take all the classes I wanted. But I did like journalism. Maybe I can go to school and do journaling or something."

"But why?" I looked at Collin in confusion.

"I don't understand. Why does it matter if I go?" He was starting to scare me, like he didn't want me to go to college.

"It's just that, this is going to be hard, but I, er, don't think you should, um, go." I almost fell out of my chair.

" What? You don't want me to go to college?" I forgot about keeping my cool. It didn't seem to matter at that point.

"Because you don't need to. You can stay here with me. We can have kids, live in a nice house. There would be no need for you to work. My parents have millions of dollars saved up for me. There's ne reason for both of us to go to school and get jobs."

"So why does it have to be me? Can't you just not go?" I was gettng really frustrated.

"Yeah, but, it's not usually common for female wolves to go back to school."

"So? I'm not a wolf. I'm a human being. They're completely different."

"I just think you shouldn't go. I don't want to lose you." Collin put his head down. I could tell he was regretting telling me.

"So you think it's okay for you to go away for four years and leave me here?"

It'll be safer," Collin protested.

"This is ridiculous! You want me to give up my dream so I can be safe?" I wanted to throw something.

"Yeah. Just because David and his pack are gone, doesn't mean we're not safe. There are dangerous packs out there who would love to attack girls like you."

Girls like me? So you're saying I'm weak?" Now I really wanted to throw something.

"No! You're not weak! I just th-"

"No! Stop! Don't even start! I can't believe you would rather have me stay home while you go out and get a job! Without me? Don't you want me happy? I want to be happy! I want to go to college! To be with you. I would love to start a family! But now? I've only been 19 for a month and you want me to have kids? We're not even married yet!"

Collin opened his mouth to say something but I put my hand up to stop him.

"No. I don't want to talk about this. This is getting really ridiculous." I sat up, leaving my half-eaten fro-yo cup on the table.

"Would you just let me explain?" Collin asked. He sat up as well.

"No! You've done enough explaining." I placed my hand on the door handle and opened the door. I walked out and grabbed Kato out of the car.

"Baleigh! Wait!" Collin came running out of the fro-yo shop. "Please! Stop!"

"No," I said. I began to walk down the sidewalk, away from the car and Collin. He didn't hop in his car and chase after me. He didn't shift into his wolf. He just stood there outside the fro-yo shop.

"Baleigh! Please! How will you get home?"

I turned back. "How can I go home when my own mate won't accept me?" I turned on my heels and walked away, leaving Collin alone in Larry's parking lot.

My goodness! That was crazy! Two fights in a row! Well, hope you all have fun freaking out! JK! That's not fun. I hate it when things like this happen. But then again, it has to happen eventually in books! Hope u guys liked it!
