i. lee. barclay.
Jackson laughed loudly as Ajax danced around on the fountain. Love Shack blasted through a boombox as Ajax started to do the running man poorly, nearly toppling into the water.
"Lee!" Bianca walked over pissed off, her arms crossed.
"Yes, Barclay?" Jackson gave her a mischievous grin.
"Get Ajax to stop dancing on the fountain." She demanded as Ajax shimmied and twirled.
"No can do. He lost his bet." He stood up, looking down at her as cheered when the song ended. A couple of other people joined in as the girl waved her hands to make Ajax get off of the fountain. Jackson sat close to her as she turned to him with a huff.
"What?" She hissed at him as the rest of her friends sat down, amused by Jackson and her conversation.
"We were just having fun, why must you kill the fun?" He leaned his head on her shoulder. She shrugged it off.
"You and I must have different meanings of fun then." She turned to him with a look of disbelief, "You think making fun of your friends is funny?"
"I'm not making fun of them." He defended himself, "I'm just letting them break the standards of societal norms."
"This is a school for outcasts, how much breaking of societal norms can it get?" She argued back harshly. He rolled his eyes with a quiet scoff as she turned her head to look at Xavier.
"Are you still pining over that man that has like, zero personality?" He asked with a raise of his eyebrow.
"At least his personality is easier to deal with than yours." She shot back at him.
"You're killing me, Barclay, you're killing me." He put a hand on his heart and leaned on her. He put as much body weight as he could as the two collapsed into the fountain. They started to argue and splash each other as Principal Weems came to see them.
"Jackson, Bianca, enough!" She shouted, causing the other students to walk away or watch from afar. They let go of each other and stood, still in the fountain.
"She started it." Jackson quickly pointed to her as she gave him a look of disbelief.
"I did not." She insisted. He nodded which made her go to fight but Weems got in between the two.
"Enough, both of you. Get dressed so you can go to fencing. Now." She demanded. They nodded in respect for her. They got out of the fountain, giving each other one last look before walking to their dorms.
"Jackson Lee. You're late." Coach called him out as he rushed into the room.
"Yes I am, but that is because he hid my fencing uniform." Jackson pointed to his roommate. Kent gave him a look of confusion but nodded when Coach looked at him for confirmation.
"Again?" Coach turned back to Jackson.
He nodded, "It's a problem, really."
Jackson walked to the other students, Bianca walking towards him.
"Very convincing. Almost as convincing as you said a writer for a tv show stole your identity." She raised her eyebrow.
"Jake Peralta is just like me. The only way they had been able to come up with such a unique personality would've had to be them stalking me. And Jake and Jackson are way too close for comfort." He whispered close to her, eyeing the windows.
"Sure." She rolled her eyes as she walked onto the mat facing Rowan. He grinned as he walked to Kent with a smile. Kent smiled back as they put the masks on and pointed their sword at each other.
What Kent didn't come to terms with was that Jackson had been late looking at who he was going to fight during the session. Jackson knew he was going against Kent and now he knows Kent's every move. He also knew it wouldn't bother the timeline considering the fact he would've done it anyways.
Kent went to swing under, but Jackson blocked it. He swung his sword upward still touching Kent's sword before he hit the bottom part of the sword. Kent let go and backed away as Jackson grabbed it with his other hand and swung both swords around. He gently tapped Kent on the chest when they saw Bianca trip Rowan down.
"How are you always good?" Kent asked with a huff.
"He probably looked to see the future." Bianca cut in.
"I did, but if I hadn't I would've ruined the space-time continuum. And we don't want that." He replied, giving her a fake smile back.
"We don't want that happening. Good job, Jackson. And it was a clean strike, Rowan." Coach said with a nod.
"Maybe if you whined less and practiced more, you wouldn't suck," Bianca spoke with a shrug. Jackson snorted but quickly covered it with a cough.
"Seriously, coach, when am I gonna get some real competition? Anyone else want to challenge me?" She went on, eyeing Jackson. He winked which made her look in disgust.
"I do." Jackson and Bianca stopped staring to see a girl dressed in all black as opposed to the rest of the group in white. She had two pigtail braids.
"Hold on, there was black fencing protection and you didn't tell me about it?" Jackson looked at Coach in betrayal, "You know black is more of my color than white!"
"Oh. You must be the psychopath they let in." Bianca gave the girl a fake smile. The boy turned his head back to see Bianca talking to the new girl.
"And you must be the self-appointed queen bee," Wednesday responded right back. "Interesting thing about bees. Pull out their stingers and they drop dead."
"Damn," Jackson spoke out loud to both of their initial reactions to each other.
"Rowan doesn't need you to come to his defense." Bianca stood up straighter as a few other students reacted to what Wednesday said. "He's not helpless, he's lazy."
"Don't let her words bother you." Jackson patted Rowan on the back, "She's just saying it to scare off the scary new girl."
"It's her," Rowan said in a scared-angry way.
Jackson turned to him in confusion before turning his head back to the main focus.
"Are we doing this or not?" Wednesday inquired, her face remaining monotone. They walked to their spots.
"En Guarde," Coach called. They both slowly pulled down their masks and got into a fencing position. Bianca struck first, barely tapping Wednesday's sword before lunging and trying to swipe her. Wednesday then went to strike her but Bianca blocked it. They struck each other's swords thrice before Bianca went to strike her again close to her face. Wednesday had it blocked. They went on before Wednesday dropped down and poked her in the chest.
"One, Wednesday," Coach called. They fought and struck again, heading towards Bianca's side when Bianca managed to hit her in the shoulder.
"The score is even," Coach called. Bianca removed her helmet, Wednesday followed in pursuit.
"That first point was clearly beginner's luck. Let's finish this." She walked up to look down at her. Wednesday walked around her to face Coach.
"For the final point, I would like to invoke a military challenge. No masks. No tips. Winner draws first blood." Wednesday suggested. The rest of the crowd oohed to the challenge.
"Jackson. Look into the future of this decision. Yes or no." Coach turned to him. Jackson nodded, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes. He moved them back and forth before he saw the ending of the fight.
"No one gets hurt too badly. An easy fix." Jackson nodded, turning to Bianca with a smile. She assumed it wouldn't end well for her so she turned back with a look of disbelief on her face.
"It's your decision, Bianca." Coach now turned to her.
"Let's see if you bleed in black and white." Bianca tilted her head, throwing her helmet to Jackson, who caught it. Jackson pulled out his phone, having already seen the fight to see if his dad had replied to his text message yet.
He hasn't even seen it.
He put his phone away with a frown as he saw Wednesday wipe her forehead. She saw the blood and her face fell slightly in a more angered tone. He threw Bianca's helmet back to her as she smiled.
"Your face got that splash of color it so desperately needed." She mocked her.
