Jeff went Left
If you're reading this, I'm guessing that the man put you down here too, with nothing but a candle to find your way out. He told me that each twist and turn of these catacombs was littered with deadly traps, but there was one safe path out. If I was lucky enough to find the correct path, I would be free.
But I'm not lucky. I'm just an art student here on holiday. But I doubt that I will be the last one he shoves down here. So I came up with a plan to help one of us escape.
He left me with my notebook and a pen, probably assuming I couldn't do anything with them. But I can do this. I'll write down the path I took, left or right, on my notebook. I'll travel down that path, then if I survive, I'll tear out the page, pin it beneath a rock, then take the notebook and proceed. One of us has to get out eventually, right?
And when one of us does get out, find the sneaky man and make him pay. Sic' the cops on his sorry behind. And don't forget the rest of us.
My name is Jeff, and I went left here.
You sigh in relief, grateful that someone else came up with a plan. You move to take the left passage until you notice that the message was written on the notebook, not a torn out page. Which means that Jeff didn't live past the first passage. You shuddered in fear as a chilled breeze brushed against your petrified face.
My new favorite scary story...
May your dreams be haunted tonight!
