Chapter Ten

"Oh my gosh! Everybody stop it! You are all scaring the poor boy." Caspar's mum said, looking between Caspar and Theo. Caspar kept his head down, his face was emotionless making Joe frown.

"Sorry." Theo muttered, rolling her eyes slightly. The room remained soundless, the faint noise of the clock ticking in the background.

"So, how did you two get together?" Caspar's mum asked with a smile playing on her lips, amused at the redness on Joe's cheeks.

She thought he was blushing, but really he was just embarrassed. Joe sent a look at Caspar telling Caspar to make something up, and luckily Caspar caught on and nodded.

"So we were fighting in the, um, lunch hall. And then he turned around and was all like 'oh then kiss me!' but he was joking and I didn't get the joke so I kissed him and yeah." Caspar explained untruthfully. Theo and Caspar's mum listened intently, smiles growing on their faces. "And then afterwards Joe said that he has had a crush on me for ages and then I admitted it too. Then we wen-"

The doorbell rang, interrupting Caspar from his sentence.

"I'll get it," Caspar chirped, jumping up from his chair. "Sorry." He mouthed to Joe once he was walking away, realising that he had just left him with his family to answer all their questions by himself.

The amount of times that the word 'sorry' had been said tonight was unbelievable.

Caspar opened the front door, to reveal Troye, standing there with a grin and a bouquet of flowers.

"Hello." Troye whispered, and Caspar grinned back at him.

"Hi, what are you doing here?" Caspar asked. "Not that I'm not happy to see you, it's just quite a difficult time and I don't really think-" Troye stepped inside, ignoring Caspar.

"Here. Daisies, your favourite." Troye said, handing Caspar the flowers.

Caspar kissed his cheek, and tried to keep it inside that roses were his favourite flowers. He hated Daisies. But that's fine, it's an easy mistake to make. It's only flowers.

Troye walked through the house without Caspar's permission, and Caspar panicked. He could ruin everything!

He quickly closed the front door, and ran after Troye. As he walked in, he saw Troye glaring at Joe and Joe looking rather uncomfortable.

"Is everything okay, um, Troye is here! And I-wait, why are you here? Not being rude or anything but..." Caspar questioned, and Troye shrugged.

"I was worried about you, I just came to check up on you." Caspar frowned at his response, and he quickly grabbed Troye's arm and took him through to the living room to explain everything.

He didn't see Joe's breath hitch in his throat when Caspar grabbed Troye's arm, and he didn't see Joe trying to stop himself making a comment about the flowers.

What Caspar never knew was about the roses that Joe had bought him a few days ago, Joe had thrown them on the floor in anger and they had been cleaned up. Caspar never received the flowers.

Troye must know that roses were Caspar's favourite right? Or was Joe just better than Troye at all of this? Joe knew that roses were his favourite, and he also knew that Caspar hated Daisies which Troye had bought him.

If that was true, he wouldn't have to bother in competing for Caspar. He'd basically already won.

Theo was texting on her phone, and Emily was sat there rather awkwardly, not knowing whether to smile or throw something (or someone) at a wall.

"Emily," Joe broke the silence. "These sausages are really good."

"Listen, you are going to have to pretend that me and you aren't dating." Caspar said when him and Troye walked into the living room, and Troye's smile dropped completely.

"What? Why?" Troye half shouted, trying to keep his voice down.

"This is the plan, me and Joe are going to actually be dating. But then in a month or two me and Joe will 'break-up', cause us telling people we aren't dating just doesn't work."
Caspar explained, and Troye crossed his arms.

"So I'm just going to have to pretend that we aren't dating for a month or two? I can't kiss you for anything for a month or two? A month or two? Do you know how long that is?" Troye hissed, and Caspar grabbed his hand making Troye visibly relax.

"I know, I'm sorry. I want this to end so I can be with you Troye." Troye nodded.

Caspar let go of Troye's hand, and began to walk back into the kitchen when Troye paused.

"Wait," Troye said. "Please tell me this isn't his idea. Cause I think he has a crush on you or something and I don't want him to be doing this on purpose just to break us up."

Caspar let out a laugh. "That's ridiculous. Joe could never have a crush on me, you're fine. It's all good."

Troye wanted to laugh with him, but he knew. He saw the looks Joe gave him. He heard the way Joe spoke to him. He knew. Caspar had no idea, because when ever Caspar looked his way, Joe would look another direction and it would almost seem like Joe was never looking at him at all.

Even before this whole newspaper drama had happened, Troye still noticed the loving looks Joe gave Caspar, the way he spoke, the way he touched him when he hit him.

Troye noticed everything, but at that point of time Joe didn't even notice.

Joe didn't notice he was in love with Caspar until Troye had told him. It was Troye's fault, Troye made Joe see that he liked Caspar.

He hated himself for it.

Troye let out a chuckle just to make it seem like he believed Caspar, but he knew. Because he was in Joe's position now too, there was only one difference for Troye. For Troye, Caspar loved him back.

"Come on, you can stay for dinner if you want. As long as you go long with it. And you can meet Joe, I'm not sure if you two have met yet." Caspar said, placing the flowers in a vase. They were stood in the middle of the hallway, not knowing whether to go into the living room or with the others, in the kitchen.

"Ok." Troye whispered in defeat.

As long as Joe didn't take Caspar away from him, he'll be fine with the plan, but Joe is sneaky. Caspar grinned and turned around to check nobody was there, before pecking Troye on the cheek.

Caspar walked into the kitchen with Troye following him, and Joe's mouth dropped open slightly.

"Hi, nice to meet you," Troye said through gritted teeth at Joe, holding out his hand to shake. "I'm Troye." Joe shook Troye's hand, trying not to wince at how tightly Troye was gripping Joe's hand. It was almost like Troye wanted it to snap off.

"I'm Joe." Joe winched at the pain in his hand.

When they pulled away, Joe glanced down and his hand was a bright red colour. Joe looked up, and stared Troye in the eyes, his eyes burning with intense flame.

"I think we would get along great, Troye." Joe said, trying his hardest not to let the sarcasm show.

Caspar grinned, in his eyes Joe and Troye already looked like the best of friends.

"Come on, babe," Joe enifised on the word babe, watching Troye twitch with anger. Joe smiled, this was an advantage for him. "Let's sit down, and eat again babe. Troye can join us, come on babe."

Theo and Emily, who everybody forgot where still there, were sat their with confusion painted over their faces. What they had just witnessed was something not normal, and to say they were confused was an understatement. They both looked at each other, and shrugged.

"Right then...yes let's eat. Eh- Troye, there's another sausage in the kitchen. Help yourself to anything you want from the table." Emily said awkwardly, they all sat down while Troye walked into the kitchen.

Dinner was uncomfortable.

Nobody spoke, actually nobody did anything at all apart from eating. Joe and Troye kept glancing at each other, each look stabbing each other like a million knives.

Caspar had no idea. And if it was up to Joe, Caspar would could never know.

He couldn't know about Joe's massive crush on him, or Troye's horrible personality.

It wasn't his business. Joe had to let fate take this one, it was out of his hands completely. Maybe it was supposed to be this way, maybe Joe and Caspar were born to hate each other.

Maybe they aren't supposed to be lovers, but enemies instead? But he stuck with his thought, it's not in his hands.

He's relying on fate, and Joe's hoping that fate will be kind to him. He could really need it.

Once everybody had finished eating, and had thanked Emily for the lovely dinner, the three boys went upstairs to Caspar's room and closed the door.

"Now that the door is closed, we can start acting like a couple again Caspy." Troye spoke, his words lacing around Joe's mind like poison. Joe sat down on the bed, his cheeks growing red from the time earlier when he had saw Caspar shirtless.

"Hmmm," Caspar face dropped. "Maybe not a good idea Troye-Boy." The nicknames made Joe feel sick, but he was glad at what Caspar had just said. "What if my mum walks in, me and Joe would be instantly busted. I think we should all just chat, none of us acting like couples."

Joe nodded, as long as he didn't watch Caspar and Troye being all cuddly, he was fine.

The three boys sat down on Caspar's bed, Caspar was totally unaware of all the dirty looks Troye kept giving Joe.

"I think we should watch a movie." Caspar announced, and Joe nodded.

"How about finding nemo?" Troye piped in. Joe frowned.

That movie always makes me cry. Joe thought.

"Or Paranormal Activity!" Troye added.
That movie gives me nightmares.

It was almost like Troye knew what movies not to pick, and was picking them.

"No, how about Toy Story?" Caspar suggested.
I love that movie.

"Yes!" Joe shouted a little too excitedly, nodding his head rapidly.

Caspar chuckled, and Troye scoffed, making Joe's smile drop. Troye smirked, and Joe decided to have some fun.

Joe 'slipped' nearly off the bed and grabbed onto Troye for support, then he made Troye 'accidentally' fall on the floor.

Caspar burst into fits of laughter, holding his stomach.

"Ouch!"

Who's the one smirking now, Troye?

"Okay, Toy Story it is. I love this movie." Caspar said, sitting back down on the bed with the DVD and his laptop in his hand. Troye sat back up on the bed, anger rushing through his veins.

"Aw look at you two." Caspar commented, looking between Joe and Troye, smiling softly. "It's like you've been best friends for years!"

Of course Caspar didn't notice the hatred they had for each other. Neither did anybody else.
And it would stay that way.

Or else.
