Third Person POV
"You said it." Max declared firmly.
"I did not." Tul said just as firmly.
"Yes you did." Max protested.
"I did not." Tul insisted.
"Are you really going to continue denying your feelings? What is it that's holding you back?" Max was starting to get frustrated.
Tul hesitated before replying, "You and Mook are still together."
Max hastily put on his clothes and started walking out of the room.
"Wait, where are you going?" Tul asked Max in a panicked tone.
"Back to my house to break up with Mook." Max replied as he continued walking towards the front door.
"Don't be hasty. Think it over very carefully." Tul advised Max.
Before Tul could stop him, Max was already out the door and sprinting towards his car that was parked in Tul's driveway.
When he arrived at his house he realized that he did not have his front door key with him but he decided to take his chance and checked if his front door was unlocked. Anyway if it was locked he could always call Mook to let him in.
As luck would have it, one turn of the knob and his front door opened.
"Mook?" Max called out upon entering the living room.
No answer.
Max went to the kitchen. She was probably cooking something for herself and Ella. Max had made it clear to Mook that his kitchen and its contents were for her to use and take any time.
No, she and Ella weren't in the kitchen.
She should have notified him if she and Ella were leaving his house. That was just simple courtesy after staying overnight here. On top of that, they had left the front door unlocked.
Max was starting to get upset.
Max walked back to the kitchen and picked up his front door key from the small copper bowl at the far corner of the kitchen counter then started to walk back out of the house.
Halfway across the living room Max stopped. He heard a faint noise coming from inside the bedroom.
Shit, was a home invasion in progress? He was going to demand from Mook a refund for whatever valuables he lost from his house but first he had to get ready to confront the home invader.
Max tiptoed back to his kitchen and opened the narrow closet that contained his broom and several items like his tool box and an aluminum baseball bat.
He took out the baseball bat and proceeded quietly to the bedroom.
He turned the doorknob as quietly as he could before flinging it open to surprise the intruder.
"Oh shit!" Mook and Ella exclaimed when they saw Max in the doorway with the baseball bat held high in both hands, ready to strike.
Mook and Ella quickly covered their nakedness with a blanket.
"Don't, Max! Please don't hurt me!" Mook pleaded. "I had no intention of being unfaithful to you but I think this is as good a time as any to let you know that......"
Max slowly lowered his upraised arms and sagged against the doorway in great relief.
"I thought there was a robbery in progress because you had left the front door unlocked," Max said, still wide eyed with shock at the unexpected sight in front of him.
"You're not mad at me?" Mook asked with a quivering voice.
"Are you and Ella ..." Max put two index fingers together.
Mook nodded while Ella looked down at her hands unable to meet Max's eyes.
Max let out a loud sigh of relief.
"So this means you're setting me free?" Max asked with a wide grin on his face.
"Yes, you're free to pursue Tul," Mook replied.
"How did you know?" Max widened his eyes once more at Mook.
"You've been pretty obvious for a very long time, you silly goose," Mook replied with a chuckle.
"I'm sorry for interrupting your pleasurable event," Max said backing away slowly from the bedroom. "I'm going back to Tul's place and might not be back tonight so feel free to continue to stay here but PLEASE keep the front door locked."
Tul was standing in the doorway of his house when Max stepped out of his car.
Max noticed that Tul's arms were outstretched and he was sporting a happy loving smile on his face.
Max raised an eyebrow at Tul.
"What's with the change of heart?" Max asked as he walked closer to Tul.
"Ella gave me a call just before you arrived and told me everything," Tul replied, his arms remaining outstretched.
Max willingly walked into them and Tul hugged him tight.
"Let's go inside," Max whispered into Tul's ears. "Your nosy neighbor is peeking through the curtains of her window."
Tul allowed Max to sweep him off his feet as Max carried him inside and kicked the front door shut.
"I had warned Mook that I might not be going back home tonight," Max said with a naughty grin as he laid Tul on the bed his hands already starting to unbutton the front of Tul's shirt.
