Sixteen
Mark heard Hana laughing and squealing in her tent and hid his blushing face in his own pillow. He couldn't believe that he just initiated a real kiss with a girl! His first kiss was initiated by himself and he still couldn't get over the way Hana's lips felt on his or how her body was so close to his own. He almost freaked out as he remembered her stomach pressing against his own, trying to comprehend what just happened.
Mark laughed to himself before searching for his phone and going in his group chat that he was sharing with Donghyuck and Haeyoung. He took a deep breath and wrote them exactly what happened this evening, just like a teenage girl would do.
Donghyuck's answer was only a stupid looking sticker, while Haeyoung fangirled with him and cheered him on that he finally kissed his crush.
Mark couldn't believe that he had actually fallen for Hana Coghlan the first day she came back from Ireland. He had to admit he had missed his clever seatmate during the six months she had spent in her home country to get better with her asthma but when she came back she looked more like a woman so puberty had hit her hard when she was in Ireland. She had gotten a petite body and feminine cheekbones that were always tinted pink when she was excited. Her hair had gotten longer as well. And Mark saw that she had dyed it light brown. She looked cute and he had fallen immediately for her.
Befriending her was something that was important to him and thanks to Hana he also managed to befriend Yoogeun and Soonbok. Yoogeun helping him with his confusion over his crush on his girlfriends best friend. And through Yoogeun, Mark got to know more and more of Hana like what kind of asthma she had and why soccer was so important to her.
And now he had kissed her. He still couldn't believe that she liked him the way he liked her and that they both would go to the University of British Columbia once they graduated. Mark shook his head and threw his phone in his bag before tossing and turning in his sleeping bag. His heart was still beating like crazy but he soon fell asleep, with the thought of now having someone that loves him.
Soon after the trip, the students were busy with preparing for graduation day. Hana as well. Texting with Mark about what colors they should pick to be matching. The couple decided to use peach. So Hana went to buy a lovely peach colored dress for graduation day.
Her parents and Hyojin came back from Ireland to attend Hana's Graduation and her Mum even offered Hana to do her hair. So, in the end, Hana had soft curls falling off her shoulders, framing her face just right.
The family went to the school by car and in front of the school, they met Soonbok and her family. The Coghlans finally being able to meet Hana's best friend and her parents. They were talking in Korean much to Hyojin's dismay who didn't want to speak Korean even though she understood it.
Soonbok leaned down to Hyojin. „Do you want to check out the vendor machine?" Soonbok asked Hana's sister in broken English. „They have yummy treats in there." Soonbok continued and Hyojin looked at the older girl in awe and nodded. Hana told Soonbok how stubborn her younger sister was when it was about speaking Korean only to get kicked in the shin by that sister.
Soonbok laughed about the Coghlan-girls antics and bought Hyojin a lollipop.
When the girls came back to their parents Mark and his parents were already meeting Hana's parents. Hana smiled when she saw her crush, welp, boyfriend. She waved him and ran towards him holding his hand bravely.
Mrs. Coghlan smiled. „So you must be Hana's Mark?" She asked the boy in English and he blushed but nodded before turning to his parents. „Mom, Dad this is my girlfriend Hana." He introduced Hana to his parents. And Hana turned to her parents. „Mum, Dad, this is Mark." She smiled. The pair of parents started talking in English, getting to know each other, while they started walking towards the auditorium where the valedictorian of their class, Seo Mina held her speech.
After everyone got their graduation certificate, the bleachers performed a song before Mina and Mark performed „As Long as You Love Me" by the Backstreet Boys to end the ceremony.
Hana and Mark's parents went to eat dinner with Yoogeun and Soonbok's families while Hana and her classmates all went to a Korean BBQ to celebrate their graduation.
While everyone was munching on their food, Mina spoke up. „I am moving to New York next week to visit Julliard. Please buy my music when I'm rich and famous!" The girl laughed making the whole class laugh in joy. Yoogeun opened up about studying Engineering and Soonbok was going to study Education at the same University as Yoogeun. „Mina, you have to sing at our wedding, though!" Soonbok laughed and everyone agreed to that idea.
Hana nibbled on her beef when Park Chanmi leaned into her. „I'm sorry that it didn't work with soccer for you." She said and Hana smiled and shook her head. „It wasn't meant to be." She smiled before the Park-siblings told their classmates that they would go to a soccer school in England. Chankyun was already crying because of the language but Chanmi was excited to visit one of the countries that brought out some of the best soccer players from this planet.
„What are you going to do, Mark?" Mina asked and Mark gave Hana a soft smile before taking her hand. „Hana and I are moving to Vancouver together." He said and pulled their intertwined hands on the table for everyone to see.
„I am going to study Psychology while Hana is going to study Journalism." He spoke and everyone applauded them for finally being together and studying together.
Later that evening, Mark took Hana home. They hold their hands and Mark hummed a song, that Hana didn't know. „We're really growing up, right?" Hana asked and Mark nodded. „Yes. Soon we'll be living on our own." He said looking at his feet as he entered the road where Hana's apartment complex was.
Once the couple was in front of the doors Mark leaned down and gave Hana a sweet kiss on the lips, that turned her legs into jelly once again. Mark laughed at her reaction and stroked her cheek gently. „We see us on Wednesday." He said, talking about their flight to Vancouver. Hana nodded and hugged Mark one last time before going inside the house with a warm and fuzzy feeling in her stomach.
