Chapter 34

I'm officially a freshman now
O-O wow

Bill's POV

I could tell that Pine Tree was thinking a lot about me killing him on that other time line. I figured that the fact I had murdered him before made him think it wouldn't be too hard for me to do it again.

The was untrue. Killing people isn't what I do, I make deals and follow up on them as I can. Pine Tree was the first person I had murdered and left them dead. He had stopped talking to me, deep in thought.

"Pine Tree?" I asked, breaking the silence like he had done earlier.

He turned to me, eyes heavy. "What is it?"

"Do I really scare you that bad?" It was a strange question for me to be asking, but I couldn't help but wonder if I was really that terrifying.

He sighed deeply. "I guess so..."

I hugged my knees, thinking about how Max had grabbed Pine Tree by his neck and lifted him off the ground and called him names. "I'm going to be honest... I didn't know humans could act as demonic as I am."

Pine Tree hugged his knees as well and stared at me. "What do you mean?"

"That kid, Max, he did what I had done to you before. I mean, he was like a demon - like me. I usually thought humans were these perfect angels. I didn't realize they could be cruel as well."

"Are you seriously that uneducated?" He asked bewildered.

"Being trapped in the nightmare realm makes it hard to get outside information, kid." I breathed. "Time flows differently there, so one minute it's 1620 and the next it's 1980..." I closed my eye. "You miss out on a lot."

Pine Tree exhaled. "Wow... I never really thought about that. Maybe that's why your so mean?"

I blinked, confused. "What does that have to do with my attitude?"

"You don't get to socialize. You're not used to having friends or real company. I get it."

I grew frustrated. What's this?! He's sympathizing in me?! Are you kidding me?!?! I laid out my legs and crossed my arms.

"What? Did I piss you off by sympathizing?" He asked amused.

I wanted to say "Yes, actually", but I said, "I don't know," instead. "Enjoy your free day, Pine Tree."

"Why do you keep saying that? Why not just have leisure time everyday instead of picking on me and my family?" He sighed angrily. "How is this going to get you Eleanor back, huh, Bill?"

"All in time." I growled. "It's not just getting Arrow back, it's about revenge too. It's a process that I'm not going to take the time to explain to you." I shook my head in exasperation.

"But you are literally just hanging around with me! You aren't even doing anything! You aren't even near Eleanor! I don't see how this-"

"Pine Tree!" I interrupted him. "Shut up!" I stood up to my feet and he did as well, his gaze hardening. "I am trying! We had this conversation!"

His glare sharpened. "Oh really? It's like your avoiding her!"

"I'm not! I need to wait- ugh, I'm not going to go through the trouble of telling you. Just accept it!" I clenched my hands into fists. Why is he being so stubborn. Is this kid bipolar or something along those lines?

"Oh, really? You've been hiding out in my house for quite a while now, Bill! You're pissing my sister off, my parents, me and Eleanor." A frown grew on his face.

"You think I'm not trying?!" I said outraged. Why was he questioning my methods?! Was he trying to piss me off?!

"I guess-" Pine Tree broke off, looking over my shoulder. "Oh my...God..."

I looked over my shoulder as well and gasped. In the distance was a girl with brown hair who was walking onto the beach.

It was Arrow...

Why was she here?!

"Mabel!" Pine Tree spat furiously.

"What about her?" I spun around, feeling panicked. Of course Arrow showed up.

"I bet you anything that Mabel told Eleanor we were here to interfere. I don't need Eleanor here to see me faking a relationship!" Pine Tree growled and pulled at his hair. "Mabel you idiot!"

I turned around and saw Arrow looking around the beach for us. Oh man, what do I do? An idea popped up in my head, but I felt sickness coil in my stomach at the thought of it. I needed to prove this was real and drive Arrow away for now. Oh man, was it worth it?

I looked back at her and saw her looking in our direction. Don't notice us. I pleaded.

She started walking towards us.

No, DAMMIT! I turned to Dipper and he looked up at me. "Pine Tree... Uh..." I tried to think of something. She can't be here. Not now. Ugh, Shooting Star....

"Think of something!" Panic was clear in Pine Tree's voice. He wanted her gone as much as I did. Magic wouldn't work, not in front of all of these bystanders.

"Kiss me!" I exclaimed.

He turned white. "Wha- are you kidding me?! NO!"

"Pine Tree, it's do or die. Just-"

"No! Nothing is worth that!" He spat. "I'd rather her come here than that!"

I glanced over my shoulder. She was getting closer, almost shouting distance. "Pine-"

"No! I said no!" He insisted, a disgusted tone coloring his voice. "Nothing in the world-"

I grabbed his waist, lifting him up off the ground, and kissed him hard on the lips.

Pine Tree made a sound half way between a scream and a gasp as I held him in place, not letting him go. He raised his hands, pressing them against my shoulders as he tried to push in the opposite direction of me, but it was to no avail. He fisted both hands into my shirt as he tried to make me pull away.

But I didn't pull away, I just held his body against mine, digging my fingers into him so he couldn't escape. I cracked my eye halfway open to see Arrow standing ridged on the beach. She had stopped walking, her eyes wide and horrid. I saw her shake her head before she spun around and took off running.

I finally pulled away from Pine Tree, breaking our kiss and watched her go, my heart racing. Thank goodness... She's gone... I looked back at his face which was flushed, his eyes wide with embarrassment. His eyes were blank and seemed to stare right through me as if I was an apparition.

There was bright shock splayed openly across him. He looked at me, loss for words. I saw him swallow, his arms trembling.

I still had him held up a couple inches off the ground and his face turned slightly sour and horrified, and finally I set him down. There was four red marks on both his sides from where I had dug my finger nails into him. I swallowed nervously, not wanting to look at him.

He stood there, breathing heavily, before he shoved past me and walked away wordlessly.

I wiped my arm across my lips roughly and stuck out my tongue, spitting on the sand. That'd sure go down in the history books. One way to ruin my day is for someone to catch me kissing someone I didn't love, and a Pines no less.

(I can practically hear the squealing of the billdip shippers)

He was walking back to get his shoes now.

I bolted up after him. "Pine Tree!" I called and leapt in front of him as he was leaning down to grab his shoes.

His face was still flushed but he leaned up, irate. "What?! What is it?!" He growled. "You kissed me! Do you even know how- my God!" He snatched his shoes and began to march off of the beach.

"Wait, I'm sorry! I had to get her away! I couldn't speak with her today! I-I panicked!" I explained.

"You could have done something else and you know it!" He shouted back. "Let me go home so I can vomit."

I narrowed my eye, my skin turning red. I stormed up and stepped in front of him. "You think you can talk to me like that?! Don't you remember who has the magic and who doesn't?! Do you remember who is the demon and who is the mortal?!" My hands began to flame up. "You listen to me! Not the other way around!"

Pine Tree glared at me, a deep frown of hatred on his face. "You're disgusting. Let me go home. You're ruining my life and I've had enough of it for today."

I growled, feeling a scream of rage boiling in my throat. I snatched his arm, the flames surrounded the skin where my hand touched.

Pine Tree yelped as the fire touch his skin. "OW!"

"Now listen to me!" I ordered him. "You will obey me! Got it?!"

Pine Tree didn't respond, he just looked away. It was obvious he was ashamed of what just happened. "I would say I'm sorry, I'm just too pissed off to say so."

I growled. "We're going home. Tomorrow, no more fun, Pine Tree. You had your day."

Pine Tree muttered some uncomplimentary words under his breath as I tugged him onto the concrete.

"We're traveling by magic." I told him harshly. I didn't really think about the after math of using so much magic to transport two people all the way back to his home. I was too angry to take notice of that.

I raised my hands up and the aura engulf us before I took his hand and we got the hell out of there.
