Chapter 53
Eleanor's POV
Bill was being sweet and all, but I really hoped he didn't get drunk again. That was truly a nightmare with the strange things he said and did. Yeesh. At about five o'clock - or at least I thought it was five, it's hard to tell with everything being messed with - demons poured in the doors of the castle and to the ballroom. He sure could throw a party, I'm not gonna lie. He stood proudly in the entrance way, guiding everyone in.
"Should I be worried that I'm surrounded by a bunch of demons?" I asked quietly through my fake smile to all the strange creatures.
"You slept with a Dream Demon - you have nothing to fear."
My face turned bright red and I silenced myself at that.
Once everything was in, Bill closed the doors and smiled at me, taking my hands. "We have some special guests, so don't be alarmed. You probably won't even notice them."
I took a deep breath and nodded. "Ok..."
A band of demons stood up where the instruments were and were playing music that was actually quite delightful. Who knew. Bill took a glass of champagne and began to mingle with all the others. I desperately followed, not wanting to be left stranded in a crowd of strangers. Bill was weaving his way through while I tripped and stumbled along.
"Bill." I hissed.
He stopped and turned around, his glass half empty. "Oh, I'm sorry." Bill used his magic to make the glass float as he picked me up bridal style and held me. "That better?"
I couldn't stop my face from heating up. "Sure." I said tightly.
Bill smiled and nodded. "Good, good. Now come on; I've been waiting to dance."
I rolled my eyes as he lead me out of the crowd and set me down in the middle of the room where the demons began to draw away from us. "Does it have to be in front of everybody?" I whispered.
Bill smiled. "Absolutely."
I sighed deeply. "I knew you'd say that..."
The demon-orchestra stopped playing for a second before they began a new song for Bill and I to dance to. Bill took my hand and put one of his hands on my hip and I put mine on his shoulder. We moved slowly, but actually quiet gracefully, across the dance floor. I hummed the song tune, actually recognizing it.
"Are you having a good time...?" Bill whispered hopefully.
I blinked, smiling as well. "Yeah..."
Bill pulled me closer and sighed. "Good, I didn't want my magic ruining everything again. At least I had some sense."
I grinned, laughing at him. "Why are you so elegant and royal - you're a demon?" I asked.
Bill shrugged. "I'm also human and handsome. Not all demons have my qualities, Eleanor."
I blinked when he said my name. He said it in such a way, that it made my heart glow. "Oh..." I fell into silence and looked up at him. "You said my name..."
Bill, at first, looked confused before he nodded. "I did... I only say it when I feel the need to."
"Why do you now?" I questioned him.
Bill bit his bottom lip. "Because we're having a moment, aren't we?"
I ducked away. "Maybe."
Bill brought his hand up and used his finger to raise my chin. "Maybe?"
I giggled. "Well, more so yes than no."
Bill sighed. "Good... I really want you to be happy with me..."
I didn't realize what I was saying until I said it. "I want to be happy with you too."
Bill looked bewildered at what I had said, his lips parting in shock. "R-really?" His voice shook with disbelief.
I almost regretted saying it, but I didn't. "I...I guess so."
Bill smiled. "That's...perfect..."
I swallowed and stared him straight in the eye. I knew, in my heart, that I had seen a side of Bill no one in history had ever seen. I stood on my tippy-toes and kissed him. This time, it wasn't out of confusion or even because I was forced to - I wanted to. Bill let out a small gasp, as if I had finally caught him by surprise, and he relaxed, leaning over and wrapping his arms around me. It was soft and amazing, something I didn't expect. The world evaporated around me to where it was just me and him. Him and me.
When I finally drew away, his eyes were sparkling. He had the biggest smile on his face like I lit up his world.
My heart felt like it was going to explode in my chest at seeing how happy he was. That's when I heard crying.
I spun around, feeling Bill tense up. Behind me, lined up in a row was my mom, dad and Mabel. They all looked mortified and my mom was the one that I had heard crying. Mabel's face was as white as sheet paper, pure horror stricken across her face. "Bill?! Why are they HERE?!"
Bill looked terrified and also confused. "I-I told you we had special guests!"
"You didn't tell me it was my FAMILY!!!" I took in a ragged breath and faced Mabel, the only one bearing to meet my gaze. "M-Mabel, please, you have to-"
"Why would you do that?!" Mabel screamed, her eyes watering. "He's ending the world!"
My legs seemed to be made of jelly, not able to support my shaking body. "Because I-"
"Say it!" Mabel dared me, anger and sorrow radiating off of her.
"I-I..." I collapsed to my knees, unable to get those three words out.
Bill picked me up, his skin suddenly bright red. "Be QUIET Shooting Star! She's happy here, you aren't going to ruin this for us!!!" He moved me away from Mabel's direction.
Mabel clenched her teeth. "Eleanor, what are you doing?!"
I found myself hugging into Bill, wanting to cry. I felt so ashamed, but I couldn't bring myself to say I was leaving Bill behind. Because I couldn't. Did Mabel know by now that Dipper was dead, up in that floating bubble - trapped for eternity? Odds were is that she did know... I felt like a monster.
Bill glared at Mabel. "Take them back down. Get them out of here." His tone was deadly and cold.
Two demons grabbed my family's chains and lead them out of the ballroom and out of the castle.
"W-why did you bring them here?!" I cried.
"I thought you'd like to see them...I thought that they'd like some time out..." Bill was still red with fury. "There time spent here is up, don't worry, they're gone."
I didn't want to cry anymore. And I wasn't going to. "Why didn't you tell me they were here?" I asked him harshly.
"It was going to be a surprise..." Bill let me go, backing away. I found a way to ruin everything again..."
My emotions were in war right now, against whether I should be furious at Bill or thankful. He was trying to be sweet, but it had gone south - he hadn't meant for this to happen. "Bill..."
Bill shook his head and swallowed. "No..." He grabbed his champagne glass out of the air and swirled the liquid around in his cup around for a bit. He finished it up and made the glass vanish. "I ruined everything again." Bill looked at me with sad eyes. "I can't stop myself from causing pain; it's the reason I was made. Pain. Suffering..." Bill closed his eye, his arms trembling slightly.
I took a deep breath, willing myself to try to comfort him. "Bill, don't beat yourself over this. I didn't know they were here, because you were trying to surprise me. I kissed you. If anything this is my fault..." It was hard to sympathize with Bill. "Don't-"
Bill raised a hand, interrupting me. "Stop."
I broke off, shocked. "Wha...why...."
Bill sighed, every demon staring in our direction. When he raised his gaze, I could feel him thinking of our kiss. "I've been wanting you to be like you were just a little bit ago - wanting. And my stupidity ruined it for myself... I'm just selfish."
I clenched my jaw and walked up to him stiffly, snatching both his hands and I saw his eye widen. "Look, I've been waiting for myself to decide. I've been wearing myself down - thinking whether or not I should be with you. You've done so much to make me happy, but you murdered my best friend... but you're different now....." I broke off, thinking. "It's been so hard, but my mind is slowly finding a conclusion..."
Bill raised his gaze, the vulnerability shining in them as he expressed true hope. "And that is...?"
I felt a smile quirk at the edge of my mouth. "I think we both know what that is."
Bill's smile lit up the whole room and he - with out any hesitation - pulled me towards him and kissed me again, hard. All the demons cheered, obviously getting the gist of what had just happened. Bill held me there, almost like he didn't want to let me go, and then, he finally let me breath. "You make me so happy." Bill said once he was done.
I could feel my heart hammering against my rib cage. My entire body was trembling like a leaf. "You make me so happy too..." I hugged my arms around him and closed my eyes, trying to shove Mabel's broken gaze to the far corners of my mind.
I think I'm reading too much Shadow Hunters, my chapters have become more sexual....
Oh well
Makes it a Hell of a lot more interesting
And don't worry, nothing explicit is going to happen XD
