Chapter 43
Eleanor's POV
The entire time we were walking, I was distracted. I kept searching for Blendin and my thoughts wanted to run rampage, but I couldn't, because of Bill.
"Is something wrong, Arrow?" Bill asked as we were walking back.
I snapped out of my searching. "Oh, uh, no. No. Nothing's wrong."
Bill looked doubtful and was obviously angry my thoughts weren't giving him any leeway. "Ok..." He replied, unconvinced.
I tried to pull my mind away from Blendin and fiddled with the golden arrow bracelet Bill told me to never take off. I wonder why... I thought, but I knew not to ask him. We walked up the translucent steps and entered the castle (which had far more cleaner and breathable air).
"You can return to your room." Bill flashed a smile.
I hesitated. "A-actually I'm really hungry."
Bill's gaze lit up. "Ok! I'll get some food! Wait right here!" Bill zipped off excitedly and I chuckled to myself at his readiness to please me.
I waited, alone, and my thoughts tried to push through. I couldn't think about it or Bill would find out... I closed my eyes and tried to push it away. I focused on bringing up a fonder memory, when the vision of Dipper's dead body flashed in front of me.
My eyes flew open and I felt like crying. "If he really liked me...he'd bring Dipper back..." I held myself and squeezed my eyes tighter in pursuit to throw that memory away too...
"I'm back!" Bill said cheerfully. He skipped his way over and halted when my thoughts reached his mind. "Arrow...are you ok?"
I felt the tears forcing through and I shook my head. Bill walked up and hugged me tightly as I wept. Guilt and pain felt fresh again... "Why don't you just bring him back?" I sobbed.
Bill didn't respond.
"Bill!" I glared at him and wiped my tears away. How pathetic of me... "Why?!"
Color rushed to Bill's cheeks and he looked away. "That-that wasn't a part of the deal."
"So! Couldn't you just do this for me?!" Rage began to bubble up inside of me.
Bill swallowed hard. "I have food set up, come on."
I put my foot down. "No! Answer my question!"
Bill seemed quite embarrassed. "That doesn't matter right now!" He growled angrily.
"Yes...it does." My tone was terse. I couldn't bear the guilt that I was the reason he was dead any longer.
Bill's skin suddenly turned red with anger. "Come eat! I set it all up!" He snatched my wrist and I gasped with fear as he drug me towards the dining room.
"Bill! Let go!" I screamed and fought against him, but he was stronger and eventually he made it to the dining room. "I hate you! Why won't you bend Dipper back?!" I made sure not to cry, my voice was going to remain steady.
"Because." Bill was still red, but he sat down stiffly.
Bill used his magic and forced me to sit. I glared at him across the table and thought the most horrible things towards him. Bill visibly made the angry color on his skin vanish and he sighed. "Ok, I have foods of plenty!"
I reluctantly looked at all the food. Turkey and cake and mashed potatoes (YUS I love mashed potatoes <3) and all types of appetizers. "You know, it's not Thanksgiving...right?" My tone was still sour.
Bill used his best effort to smile. "Yes I know - whatever ridiculous human holiday that is - but enjoy!"
I didn't smile at his lack of normal human knowledge. I put a turkey legs and a scoop of mashed potatoes on my plate and stared at it.
My appetite had shrank to the size of a pinhead. I moved my glaring gaze from my food to Bill and back again and then back to Bill. I saw Bill give me a nervous glance.
"I-is something wrong with the food?" He asked, his voice shaking.
"No." I replied curtly and then muttered, "there's something wrong with you."
Bill, though, heard me and his gaze hardened. "Eat." Was all he said and then stared at me in silence.
I ate angrily, picking at my food and chewing ever so slowly. Bill was obviously stressed that I was mad at him, he was worrying the entire time. He probably drank four cups of whatever was in the glasses. I finally threw a glare at him. "Stop staring!"
Bill flinched and looked away guiltily.
"If you want me happy, bring Dipper back!" I screamed.
"No." He took another gulp of his drink hastily.
"UGH!" I threw my hands up in exasperation and stood up from my cake quickly. "I'm going to my room!" My frown deepened. "Thanks for the dinner," I said with a sarcastic tone, "don't try to follow me!" I slammed my hand on the table before marching out of the dining room and to mine.
"Arrow, wait!" Bill called, but I ignored him. I was having enough of him.
I reached my room and slammed the door behind me. "Stay out!!"
Bill's POV
I watched her march out and took a swig of whatever beverage was on the table. It was probably my fifth cup of this stuff. It tasted strange, even for me. Maybe in a hurry I put something else besides water and cider in the cups...
I slammed my fists into the table, my skin turning red. "OH MY GOSH WHY?!" I shot my hand at the food so it burst into a torrent of angry red flames. I stood still, glaring ferociously at the chaos on the table. The heat didn't bother me... I whipped around and stormed out of the dining room. "I'm TRYING!" I screamed to myself. "I'm trying so hard to make her like me but no!" I slammed my fist into the wall, part of the tile crumbling away at the contact. My hair flamed up and leaned up against the damaged wall, trying to maintain my temper. I had been doing so well and of course Arrow was the one to make me snap.
The flames slowly died down, the heat dissipating with it. I felt sweat beading down my face and dripping down my chin. My breathing was irregular and I heaved in my breath. I could feel my heart racing faster than it should be. My vision swirled together and I crumpled to the ground in exhaustion. It felt like my power had drained away. I closed my eyes and I kept seeing her.
Ok, My thoughts said, you're obsessed.
I shook my head slowly, refusing to give into the...truth? The lie? I didn't really know. Why was I so weak all of a sudden? I got up before my strength could sap away any longer and stumbled to Arrow's room. I finally reached the wall and went to grab the handle, but missed.
What the...? I blinked and tried to grab it and missed again. Out of frustration, I slammed my fist into the wall. "Arrow!" I hollered.
The door swung open and her infuriated gaze landed on me. "I TOLD YOU-" she broke off when she saw me lying crumpled on the ground. "What the-? What are you doing?"
"I-I...I don't know..." My voice came out strange and slurred.
Color rushed to Arrow's cheeks. "What the heck, are you drunk or something?" She flicked her gaze to the side momentarily.
My eye widened. Whoopsie... I did mess up on the drinks. "Haha...maybe..." I tried to get up, but my arms were strangely weak.
"Bill! You idiot! Why?!" Arrow seemed more annoyed than concerned.
"I didn't mean to!" I said hurt.
Arrow rolled her eyes and dragged me into her room. I laughed as she slouched me against the side of her bed. "Stupid..." She muttered. "You're lucky you're drunk or I'd have slapped you."
I smiled, strangely giddy, at her. "Sure, Pine Tree..."
"Pine Tree?" Her eyes widened as shock, fear and pain mingled together in one single look.
I chuckled. "I-I meant, Arrow..I promise..."
Arrow leaned up and put her hands on her hips. "Mhm..." Hate radiated off of her. "Can you make it back to your room."
I giggled. "N-no!"
Arrow rolled her eyes. "Yeesh, at least I'm not twenty-one yet."
I laughed at that and tried to hug her, but she stepped away quickly, her movements a blur. "Wh-hoa!" I exclaimed. "You move f-fast!"
Arrow scoffed and sat on top of her clothes chest. "How long will it take for you to sober up?"
"FOREVER!" I shouted, throwing up my arms, and broke off laughing hysterically.
"My God... Have you ever been drunk before?" She spat.
"No! Demons don't like alcohol! To human-like!" I smiled at her. "But not all demons hate humans..." I said, implying myself to her. "And vice-versa!"
Arrow blushed and crossed her arms. "Yeah right."
I gave her a lopsided smile. "Mhmm." I stood up on my wobbly legs and flopped down on her bed. "Your bed is so comfy..." I curled up on it. "I could totally sleep in it with you!"
There was a gasp and something whacked me upside the head. I looked to my side in shock to see Arrow had flung her shoe at me. A bruise had formed where her shoe had hit me.
"Never say that again you perv." Her face was red and anger was prominent on her.
I laughed and buried my face in the comforter. "Yah know you like it..." I mumbled and another shoe hit my head. "Ow..." I grumbled into the blankets. I turned around to lay on my back. "Be with me Eleanor!" I cried.
Arrow scoffed in disgust. "Sure, like that'll ever happen." She crossed her arms and glared at me. "You won't even bring Dipper back."
I sat up suddenly. "'Cause I want you!" I yelled protectively.
Arrow looked taken back and a loss for words. "I-what?"
"You heard me!" I smirked, my words came out a little straighter that time.
She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, sure." Arrow replied sarcastically.
"It's true!" I hugged myself and chuckled. "Arrow?" I asked innocently.
"What is it?" She snapped.
"C-can you come her for a sec.?" My voice sounded drowsy.
Arrow got up and stomped over. "What?"
"I just need to tell you something..." I sighed, my eyes half closed.
Arrow sighed heavily and leaned closer. "What? What IS it?"
I opened my eye and found myself staring straight into her's. There brown color with amber swirled within them. My mouth parted open in shock.
"Can you at least tell me?" Her voice was hard.
I swallowed, my throat parched. "I-"
"Well, you're drunk so what did I expect?" She leaned back up to leave, but I grabbed her shoulders and yanked her towards me. She gasped as her lips crashed into mine. I wrapped my hands around her, groaning with pleasure.
Arrow pulled away, screaming and fell back and crashed into her wall. Her eyes were wide and terrified, her chest heaving. "What the hell?!" She screeched.
The sensibility in me that had momentarily returned, left, leaving me feeling drunk again. "Again!" I cheered like a five year old.
Arrow seemed on the verge of tears as she wiped her arms roughly across her lips. "What...is wrong with you?" She breathed enraged.
"Nothing." I sighed simply. "The real question is what is wrong with you?"
Her thoughts darted to my head and they said, "Oh my God...what is wrong with me..?"
