Chapter 26

RainPaw crept close to a rock near by. She swayed her tail side to side as it was on the forests soft ground, sweeping dirt. Her whiskers twitches with narrowed focused pale green eyes. Then suddenly she gasped as a plumped mouse scampered near the rock as it quickly grabbed a seed and began to nibble. She growled lowly and leaped pouncing on it while she squeezed its life out. She bent down and bit it's neck and twisted earning a painful squeak.

"Good." Purred Tigerstripe who came out from the bushes close by. "That mouse wasn't expecting you, huh." RainPaw looked down to her paws, frowning flexing her claws on the dead mouse.
"I guess." She muttered as she rolled her eyes. Tigerstripe sighed and laid his tail on her shoulder. "It wasn't your fault you know." He assured her softly. RainPaw nudged his tail off of her. "It was." She growled looking up to meet his dark blue eyes. He shook his head nuzzling her flank. "It wasn't." He murmured. "It was." She repeated with gritted teeth bristling. Tigerstripe gave her an understanding blue gaze stepping back then lowered his head. RainPaw sighed knowing her mentor was right.

'She brought it up,though. So that makes it both of ours. Right?'

"I'm sorry,Tigerstripe."
She mumbled standing on her paws. She bent down and grabbed the mouse with her sharp teeth. Tigerstripe smiled lifting his head. "No need,RainPaw." He meowed playfully nudging her. They began to walk side by side towards camp. As they both got beat the camp RainPaw sniffed. "I'm going to give this to SkyPaw." She meowed padded faster pushing herself in camp,Tigerstripe at her heels. "Okay. Remember tomorrow you need to be up early for our training session!" He reminded her with a soft voice. As they entered they both went separate ways. Tigerstripe towards the Warriors den while Ashtail and Jaywing outside sharing tongues. As RainPaw was heading closer to the medicine cat den. She spotted Bolt at the entrance yawning. As RainPaw stopped next to him she bowed her head to him in greetings. Bolt retreated her with a bow then flicked his ears. "Your mother's in there. She has BrackenKit with her. She said she's gonna introduce you two together to get to know each other better." He meowed smiling. RainPaw shrugged and began to pad inside. "RainPaw."
She stopped in her tracks turning to meet his sky blue eyes.
"Wait out here. I don't think your sister would want to many visitors. I mean the medicine cats are in there as well,so it might be cramped up in there." He suggested lightly with a glint of humor in his eyes. RainPaw sighed. "I guess." She mumbled while the mouse dangled in her jaws. She doesn't have any time to laugh. She beats herself in her mind every single heart beat for letting her sister climb the largest tree in the whole forest. Bolt noticed the hurt in her green eyes as she was backing up to sit next to him. "You shouldn't be beating yourself every single time,RainPaw." He meowed scooting closer to his daughter. RainPaw lowered her head dropping the mouse. "What do you know? You and Tigerstripe weren't even paying attention to us mouse-brains." She muttered turning her head leith closed eyes as she lowered it. Bolts eyes widened from her second reaction. "I dared her!" She wailed. SpikeFur stopped in his tracks and stared. "If it wasn't for me! She would've still be training with me." Bolt cleared his throat as he signaled his tail to SpikeFur to move along while sighing shaking his head. "It was actually my fault." RainPaw narrowed her eyes in confusion. "What?"
Bolt gave her a wearily smile. "Yea.If I would've took her to the thunderpaths and show her different ways to cross she wouldn't have climbed the tree over boredom." RainPaw nodded in agreement assume stared at her plumped. Then moments later her eyebrows scrunched up as her eyes began to burn with fury. "Why didn't you?" She growled looking up at him. Bolt sighed.
"Cause I thought maybe battle moves are more important." RainPaw bristled standing up. "Crossing the thunderpath is even more important,Bolt!" Bolts eyes widened as his daughter roared in his face . "It's risking your life,mouse-brain! You fox-hearted Tom! Your gonna pay for this! With.your.life." And with that she picked up her mouse and began to pad inside the medicine den. Bolt opened his jaws then shut them as she was stopped by her mother and her foster kit. RainPaw scrambled backwards with tears dripping from her pale grey cheeks. Seeing his daughter like that made Bolt feel upset towards himself.
"RainPaw? What's the matter?" BrookHeart meowed. BrackenKit was only a couple of mouse tails smaller than RainPaw and SkyPaw so he was eyeing her with a sad expression.

RainPaw rushed towards her mother's chest and buried her muzzle in her mother's fur as BrookHeart raised a paw and brought her daughter more in while lowering her head on her daughters shoulder. BrackenKit padded closer and placed his ginger tail on her shoulder.
"He did it to her, mother!" She sobbed in BrookHearts snowy white chest fur. "Did what,RainPaw? Bolt would never hurt your sister or you." RainPaw shook her head and stepped back. "No!He was the reason to cause her dislocated leg!" She hissed. BrookHearts green gaze became grow with worry. Their clanmates were watching and hearing their conversation. Eyes on them with wide curiosity. She cleared her throat lowly as her daughter continued. "He didn't show her how to cross the thunderpath! If he took her. Today SkyPaw would be still training along my side!" BrookHeart shook her head. "Calm down RainPaw! " she hissed. "She's gonna be fine! And he has nothing to do with it!SkyPaw was mouse-brain to climb 'The great Oak tree'!You both also were stupid enough to think one of you would make a good Landing!" RainPaw flinched back at her mothers sternness. "Now you apologize to Bolt and stop this nonsense! And grow up!" RainPaw sucked her tears in,her throat began to tighten as she lowered her head, flattering her ears. "I hate you." She mumbles hoping no cat could hear. BrookHeart pricked her ears and padded towards her daughters face. "What was that?" She asked tail flicking with impatience as her daughter responded moments later. RainPaw sniffed lifting her chin with narrowed eyes. Confidence bubbling up inside her heart as it began to tighten with regretting disliked three words.

"I.Hate.You."
