i can't tell if it's killing me or making me stronger
CLARKE pushed the walker off of her, and it went rolling down the cliff that was literally inches away from her. She wheezed as she pulled herself away from the edge, her chest heaving up and down in a rapid motion. She could've died just then, but somehow, she survived, and for some odd reason, she's glad that I survived. But, somewhere deep within her, wished that she would've rolled off the cliff along side the walker.
Pushing herself up into a sitting position, she put her head in her hands, and let out a loud breath.
Who am I kidding? I can't survive out here alone.
This was her hundredth time getting inches away from death, and yet, here she sat, still breathing.
Just three days ago did she kill that group of guys — she woke up, sick and with a concussion. She had to stay in the dead filled cabin for two days just to take care of herself or else she would've died painfully.
Now, she was back in the wild, alone, and wishing that she wasn't.
"What do you want with me?" She whispered before looking up at the sky. "Huh? What did I ever do to you?! Why are you making me live when everyone I love is dead?! Why?" She sucked in a breath, sniffling as she did so. "Why?" she whispered.
"Clarke..."
She jumped up from where she was sitting and looked around frantically. It's that voice again... Castiel's voice.
"You need to keep pushing. Danger is ahead."
Instead of ignoring the voice like she would've so long ago, she nodded her head. Maybe she's going insane. Maybe she needs closure. Maybe she just needed to hear another person's voice other than her own. But, whatever the reason, she listened and ventured on, holding her side with her right hand.
She had a major bruise the size of half a watermelon from being knocked into a gigantic bolder by a walker. She even had a scar on her forehead from when she face planted into a rock before those guys got what they deserved.
She cursed as she tripped over her own feet, her fingernails digging into her side.
"Aah!"
She heard a shout in the eery night, making her jump about a foot off the ground. Her breathing increased as she heard fast paced footsteps coming towards her. She went to grab the only knife she had left on her body, but she hissed in pain as something rushed right into her, making both of them fall to the ground in a heap.
"Oh, my god," the person breathed out and Clarke opened her eye lids for only her blue to land on piercing hazel-green ones. Her mouth hung open in shock as they stared back at her. "Clarke."
"Sophia?" She gasped out, pushing herself into a sitting position.
"No time to talk," She rushed out, pushing herself to stand up. "Walkers are coming. A dozen of them."
Clarke's blue eyes widened and she pushed herself up as well, hearing the moaning and growls coming from the woods behind her.
"Hurry," Sophia rushed out and grabbed Clarke's hand to pull her along with her.
Both of their feet carried them as fast as they possibly could. And even though her side was killing her, Clarke ignored the pain as she finally had someone else to look after other than herself.
Suddenly, they skidded to a stop.
There was a river in front of them. She looked to Sophia who stood to her left. She was clearly exhausted, looks like she hasn't slept in days, probably haven't ate anything either. She was covered in sweat, mud, and what looks like walker skin and blood.
Clarke then looked down at herself, her legs were shaking, her side was aching and burning due to the huge bruise, and her head was pounding. She could barely stand let alone fight off a dozen or so walkers with a very tired little girl by her side.
Clarke looked back to Sophia and gripped her hand tightly. She looked up at her with wide frightened eyes and nodded at her as she caught onto what Clarke wanted to do.
They both faced the river as they heard the walkers coming up behind them.
She let out a heavy breath before counting down. "Three... two... one."
And they jumped into the water just as a walker grabbed at Clarke's hair.
