I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My dad was awake. I pinched myself a couple times just to make sure I was dreaming.

I wasn't even expecting that to happen. I mean I was planing on leaving in a couple days if he didn't wake up. Even though I probably should have done that a month and a half ago.

"Dad you have to be careful not to hurt yourself," He didn't say anything back to me just looked at me with a confused and concerned look. So I just went along with it.

He walked out of the room looking for people. I didn't tell him what was going on. It would be to much for him to handle.

I followed my dad to where ever he was. We walked to the set of doors that said. 'DO NOT OPEN DEAD INSIDE!'. I just looked at my dad and he had a look on his face like what the fuck does that mean.

He found the stairs finally and started walking down them, and I started to wonder how my dad was going to take this all in. Also I could tell that just by the way he looked at the door that was all chained up. He was going to be in for a rude awakening once he got out into the world.

Before I knew it my dad found the exit. I mean I knew where the exit was I just didn't want to get in his way and get him all mad me. I didn't need that right now.

When we got outside I forgot how bright it was out there. My dad started to walk to I don't know where and saw one of the helicopters that were taken down. He also saw a bike and I saw a skateboard. Luckily I knew how to ride a skateboard cause my dad would not have carried the two of us on that bike.

We started to make our way to our house when we saw a walker cut in half. My dad fell off his bike and looked really scared. The female walker was in the early decomposing stages. You could see the missing flesh and her rips. My dad got back on the bike and petaled as fast as he could back to our house which was not that far away.

When we got inside my dad called for my mom and Carl. When we couldn't find anybody I ran up to my room to get some clothes, shoes, any accessories that I need (makeup, hair products, girl things, etc.), and a bow that Daryl made me for my thirteenth birthday.

Flashback

Emily, Laura, and I were on our way to the Dixon's house to have a little party for me. Lauren's dad said that they would take us hunting and Daryl would be with us.

"So Jess are you ready to see your boyfriend?" Laura said from the front seat of the car.

"Shut up cause if you don't I'm going to come up there and kick you a...," Emily put her hand over my mouth before I could finish my sentence.

The rest of the car ride up to the Dixon's house was literally Emily and Laura just asking me about Daryl. Luckily we got to there house before I lost my mind.

Once we got out of the car Lauren ran out and gave us a hug I asked where Merle was because, I didn't see him. "He out right now but he will be back soon. Why?" Lauren asked. I shook my head at the idea she had and we all went inside.

When we got inside Daryl gave me a hug like he always does and my friends looked at me like he had a crush on me. Which I knew he didn't, but I think Merle did.

During dinner time Merle came back and when he first walked in he came over to me and gave me a hug. I felt so embraced, well I always feel embraced when Merle hugs me; I don't know why. I think it's because I'm really the only one he hugs.

After dinner we all went out to go hunting. We paired off into groups. They were Lauren and Laura, Emily and Merle, and Daryl and I.

Daryl and I went off into the woods and we got some squirrels. I was using one of his old bows that he had. Then off in the distance we saw a deer he said move slowly and quietly (which I knew to do).

I hate having to kill animals but it's the only way to survive. We almost had the deer when we heard one of the other groups shooting at something. It sounded like it was panic and out of control shooting.

We started to run to where the gun shot came from when I tripped and fell. All I did was sprain my ankle and got a couple scratches. But Daryl had to be over dramatic and pick me up. He ran me to the house.

He is really over exaggerating this time. I thought to myself. But he made me feel better. So he called Merle and Lauren to tell them to come back.

Later that night Daryl asked if everyone could leave the room except for Merle. "What are you guys doing?" I asked sounding a little worried.

"We have a present for you I made one part of it and Merle made the other part of your gift," explained Daryl. I was kind of scared of what it was cause I can never trust these two when they are together.

Daryl came back into the room with a box and Merle came into the room with something behind his back. Daryl told me to open his part first so I did. It was a handcrafted bow with an engraving into the side of it. Then Merle gave me a quiver to hold the bow and arrows in it. Merle also made sure to have some arrows already in bag.

"Jess we hand made these thing just for you so be careful, and if you didn't notice that carved into the side of the bow it says. 'We will always be together as long as you have this'." Daryl explained. I almost cried cause of this. I gave them both a long hug.

Merle left the room so Daryl could stay with me. All I remember next is falling asleep in his arms.

End of the flashback

I finished packing up and started to head back down stairs. When I got back down stairs my dad looked at me like what took you so long. I made sure to get any food mom may have left behind.

Once we found anything that may have been useful we went back outside. Once out there we sat down on one of the steps on the porch and saw someone at the end of the street. My dad waved to them; even though I told him not to. When all of a sudden we both got hit in the back of the head with a bat or a pan. After getting hit I blacked out.
