They banged their fists  against the invisible dome. 

"I'm going to see if I can find somewhere that has a hole to fit through or something." Philly said and put his hand against the dome swimming around using the speed of a thousand dolphins. 

Terrence floated down to the floor and sat looking at his hands.

"What's wrong?" Douglas swam down to his brother.

"Father is missing, we're trapped, I feel like we've let down our people." He looked at Philly

"Brother. I'm sorry. I see how I've treated you in the past and that isn't the sign of a good leader, a good friend, or a brother. However you are my brother and we will make it out of this."

With those words the water in the dome shifted. It was being absorbed into the ocean floor.

Douglas suddenly had an idea. 

"Fathers scepter!" He got up and SWAM as fast as his tail could carry him though when he had reached the window that entered the throne room the water had already declined to be below it. He swam back under the water and JUMPED out into the window. He was in the throne room, but his fins hadn't turned back into legs. He took a deep breath and tried to crawl across the floor to the throne. Fortunately he realized there was water on the ground.

He tried all he could to make his legs fins but it wasn't working. He finally groaned out of defeat and attempted once to push himself up but was losing strength. He fell onto the ground and realized there was no splash. The floor had dried up. The air was hot and dry. He tried again to push himself up, feeling as though he was suffocating as his gills started to dry up. 

His lips felt dry and he coughed as he closed his eyes, pushed himself up, and the world went black

By the way. Here is a fun fact. The story was originally supposed to be centered around their child but when I was talking about the story to someone they suggested to start it with the story of their parents! So thank my friend for knowing Douglas and Mary Ann's story
