The Usual Stop Sign
The Usual Stop Sign
Emma was driving home from her busy night. She stopped at the usual stop sign. Byron hopped in the passenger side and closed the door. She sighed. "Byron, Sir." She wasn't at all surprised.
"Emma." Bryon didn't worry about a seatbelt. He was a big guy, he had broad shoulders and was tall. He was a werewolf and they didn't tend to be small but he was the Alpha.
He was bigger with dark, wavy hair with streaks of silver in it and a nice beard. He was very rough and attractive in a lumberjack kind of way. He wore jeans and a t-shirt most of the time.
"What now?" She had to ask.
"You have me to thank for the unknown corpse in your office." Byron smiled. Emma stared at him. "I keep tabs. Yes, I know he was a vampire. Is he dead?" He assumed that Emma killed him.
"Yes. Very. I took care of that and thanks for the assistance. So, you have someone in the main office?" Emma still didn't have Bryon figured out.
Byron laughed. "Good friend."
Emma sighed. "Of course. And the mess the other night?"
"Well, that was not good. That was a mess and we just got done processing it! It was a shit show. There are rumors that they have your description." Byron stopped. "Some of your description. The usual."
Emma sighed. "I know. Don't look at me. One got away. He was injured and got away. Where am I going?"
"Here is the file on the town and everything that we know. I can't just call the jackass to make an appointment but I have the whereabouts of some of his vampires. I have set up a kind of appointment for you to meet. I expect a report from you." Byron smiled. Trevor usually wrote them.
"Don't kill them if you don't have to, just get information. I'm hoping to track them. There is something happening." He paused. "What are you not telling me?" He knew something was up.
Emma smiled. "Right." She told him the hunter story. "And they took care of the vampire and left."
"I think I am actually getting a headache!" Byron sighed. "We don't need more hunters on top of this mess. We have to fix this mess first. Are they after this vampire also?" He was freaking out. If they realized that Emma was a vampire, she could be in danger.
"I don't know, Sir. I have no information on them, only their first names. I wasn't thinking of interviews at the time." Emma almost laughed.
"I need to focus on this head vampire anyway but let me know if you find out who they are. I like to stay informed about people in my territory. We need the name of the hunters to set up a meeting." Byron gave everyone that benefit of the doubt but never trusted them. "Do you think they will meet with me?"
"I don't think these guys will want to meet and I didn't ask them. I'm freaked out right now, Sir. Between these hunters and the new head vampire, these vampires weren't eager to talk, Sir. They were brutal. They killed a whole town, Sir. No survivors."
Emma tried to inhale. "You know. I'm worried and now they know who I am!" Emma was in a panic. She didn't tell Byron that she had a name. She was holding some information for now.
"Easy. They don't. They know that you have blue vampire eyes. You are a hunter that is a vampire and that is all they know. That's all. It's not much to go to. Stay safe and get me information on the new hunters." Byron bailed out at another stop sign. He was gone and Emma sighed.
