A steel building sits on an abandoned land, and even though the land is abandoned, the building is not, there is commotion there, lights are flashing and alarms are blaring. A figure runs through the door, and out into the land. No one comes after them. They run and run and run until the abandoned land is left behind. They enter a civilized town, although the figure didn't know that as they had run into a field of grass. They walk through it, their bare feet getting wet from the dew on the grass, they are also dirty from running, The figure makes it to the edge of the field, along the edge, are trees in a row, they are just starting to grow bigger. They have long branches and have some have leaves. They walk through them and there in all its glory stands a white farmhouse. Through the back windows, the figure can see faint light glowing through. They stay at the edge of the yard and breathe deeply, they had finally made it, safe from enemies and the lady with raven black hair. They lay down next to a tree, the branches creating a shelter. The light went out of their eyes as the light went out in the house.

It was early morning when a man with brown curly hair just brushing his shoulders emerges from the house, he walks into the barn to milk the cow and feed the other animals which includes a pig and her piglets, chickens, and a donkey. Walking out of the barn, he made his way towards a woman with raven black hair and green eyes who had just walked out of the house towards a white SUV.

"Honey?"

"Yes, dear?"

"I'm going to water the trees today, they are looking a little dry."

"Yes, I noticed that I just didn't want to be rude and say something." The man stays silent so the woman continues,

"I'm headed for the school with Danny and Opal. Max is headed to college"

"Sounds good. I'll see you tonight?" The man asks scratching his head.

"Yes, probably 5:00." She turned toward the house and yelled "Come on!" Immediately two boys came out, one was a young boy with red hair and blue eyes and the other was a teenager with curly brown hair and green eyes after that came out a girl wearing all black her hair was dark blue and hazel eyes, she popped her headphones into her ears. They hopped into their mother's car while the teenager with brown curly hair hopped into a beat-up old truck they all drove down the dirt path, one after the other. After waving goodbye, Ben drove a tractor with a flatbed attached filled with buckets of water, all the while the girl lay unconscious at the edge of the field. Shutting off the tractor Ben hopped down and grabbed a bucket, he went to the first tree and watered it, then the second and the third. He walked to the fourth and saw a mass on the ground.

"Now, how did Callie's calf get out?" Setting the bucket down, he walked softly and slowly over. As he got nearer he realized it wasn't a calf but a human, a young teenager in fact. He rolled her over, her honey color hair falling away from her face to reveal a creamy, pale complexion and red lips. She had on a thin hospital gown, Ben thought to himself Dang she's cold, wonder who she is? Picking her up, he set her on the bed of the tractor and drove back to the house. Picking her up from the flatbed, he carried her in, a gray great Dane follows him inside. The inside of the house was newly furnished, as you came into the entryway, there was a shelf on the hall with coat hooks attached it. Off of the entryway was the living room where a flat-screen T.V hung, in front of it but back aways was a green cushioned couch. In the corner of the living room sat a big overstuffed chair. Across from the living room was the stairs, then to the left, down two stairs was the kitchen. It had an island and a big farm sink, marble counters lined the back wall, to the left of the stairs was the dining room. A large glass table sat with six chairs, along a wall, there was a glass hutch with china. Two chandeliers hung from the ceiling over the table. Ben laid her on the couch, put a pillow underneath her head then ran up to get blankets as she had started to shiver. He came down to find that Jack, the great Dane had climbed on top of her and was laying on her

"Jack come, on boy, you gotta move. The dog looked at him but didn't move. Come on boy" Ben said slapping his thigh. Jack still didn't move so Ben pulled him off then wrapped the blankets around the girl. Going into the kitchen he called his wife.

"Ben is it urgent? I'm in a meeting right now." She asked harshly

"Well, it kind of is."

"Alright, what is it?" He took a deep breath then rambled out

"I found a young woman at the edge of the field."

"A woman?"

"Yes! She has a thin hospital gown on."

"A hospital gown?"

"Yes."

"What color is her hair?"

"Um a Honey Color?"

"Does she have an ID bracelet?"

"Um I don't know, I didn't look. Why all these questions?" Silence filled the other side then

"No reason, I'll be right there." They hung up and Ben went back in the living room only to see that Jack had climbed back up and was lying next to her. He adjusted the pillow then sat on the opposite side of the room. Suddenly the back door flew open crashing into the wall, standing up Ben quickly got into protection mode but he wasn't quite fast enough something came rushing in and knocked him down, and started licking his face

"Uggg Scout get off. Jumping off, Scout a beautiful black lab sat down staring at him. "Did you have a fun time chasing the cows buddy?" Standing up he sat back down and watched as Scout went over to the couch and sniffed her hand. Her nails were vertically long, clean, and clear. Scout went under her hand and tried pushing it so that she could pet her, seeing it wasn't working he laid down next to the couch. Ben noticed that she had stopped shivering and that a little color had returned to her cheeks. He sat down and picked up a book, to help pass the time. After some time, the front door opened and in walked Lucy. Getting up he quickly rushed to her, in a whispered voice

"She hasn't woken up yet." Tiptoeing over Lucy went around the couch and looked at the teenager

"What's Jack doing up there?

"He's been keeping her warm."

"But you have blankets on her."

"I know, but he feels like he needs to be there, so I just left him." Lucy eyes the teenager up and down

"Wow, she's beautiful, just like you said."

"What are we going to do with her?"

"We could put her up in the guest room."

"Okay." Lucy pulled Jack off and Ben picked her up. She felt dead in his arms. He hadn't realized that when he had brought her in earlier. She was light though so it wasn't a struggle to get up the stairs. Her head flopped back and forth as they went up. He set her on the bed and let Lucy take over. Well dear, I guess you need to borrow some clothes. Lucy thought. She finished getting her undressed and put her in an oversized blue shirt. After examining her a little more, she walked back down to talk to Ben.

"Ben, where are you?" She heard barking from outside so she followed it and saw Ben throwing a ball for Jack and Scout. Seeing Lucy he came over to her

"What's wrong honey?"

"Well it's the young woman I'm worried about."

"Why's that?"

"Well she has marks on her body that look like needle marks, but I'm not quite sure, she has burn marks as well, she also has scars on her knees and it looks like pieces of her skin have been taken out."

"What!?"

"Yeah, and um I also found this." Looking down at her hand he saw an ID bracelet it read SUBJECT 2941

"So she does have an ID. Just not a name. What does it mean?" Ben asked

"No idea." Lucy replied with a sad voice

What are we going to do about Danny, Opal and Max?"

"Well, I don't want them to stay here, we don't know her." She replied with a firm voice

"I agree, but where would they go?"

"Danny could stay at his friend's house, Opal could stay with one of her friends as well. I don't know what to do about Max, I mean he is old enough to know not to get close to strangers." Lucy Replied

"You know, I'm gonna need help in the field. He could bunk up in the barn with me."

"Yes, that sounds like a good plan. We don't know who she is and what happened until we know we need to keep the kids safe."

(After school)

"So why can't I stay here again? Opal asked in an annoyed voice

"Mommy just said it's because there is a stranger in our house." Danny replied with his whiny voice

"I wasn't asking you." Opal said as she glared at Danny

"Opal, that is no way to talk to your brother."

"Sorry Dad" she replied, rolling her eyes while blowing a bubble with her gum and returning back to her phone.

"Now Danny, I've already arranged it so that you will be staying with Noah and Opal you are staying with?" Lucy asked, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

She blew a bubble then said "Um Makenna." without looking up from her phone

"Alright so we have a plan."

"How long do I have to be away from you mommy?" Picking him up she replied

"Oh Danny, it won't be long I promise." With that she kissed the top of his head and sent them to go pack. Opal went up the stairs and instead of going to her room, she went to the door of the guest room and stopped, she turned the knob and went in. Using her phone flash light, she ran it over the person in the bed. She went up to the bed and grabbed the woman's hand but immediately dropped it back down because it was cold, she moved on to the head, felt her hair which was smooth and soft. She peeked under eyelids and saw light grayish bluish eyes. She was about to pull back the covers to see what the rest of her looked like when

"What are you doing in here?" Yelping she saw her dad at the door, he came in and grabbed her by the arm.

"I- I just wanted to see."

"I know honey but until we know who she is you need to stay out of here okay?"

"Okay." Walking to her room she waited for her heart to slow down, then she began packing. After she was done she went downstairs where Danny was clinging to Lucy

"Okay, everybody has everything?"

They both answered each other "Yep, affirmative." Ben dropped Danny and Opal off then came back to do some work outside. He knew that he would have to talk to Max when he got home. He wasn't quite sure what to say, because he didn't know how he would take it, but knew he would find the right words when the time came. Inside Lucy went about her business, doing the laundry, making meal plans and working on her computer. At Noah's house, Danny was having the time of his life even though he had just gotten dropped off. Noah lived in a mansion and was the only child so he could pretty much do whatever he wanted. Danny and Noah played Video games and ate junk food. Danny loved when he went to Noah's because he knew that he didn't have to be on his best behavior like he did at home. And being the youngest, he didn't have anyone to play with. Him and Noah got in trouble a lot because of the things that they did, but Noah only lived with his mom and she didn't have the energy to scold them. Opal was having a fun time too. Her friend lived in a mansion as well and had an in ground pool, a dance area with a disco ball and she would call their private DJ to come and play music so that she could dance. Her friend also didn't have an allowance, her mom would just hand her wads of cash. Makenna was a snob and that is where Opal got her attitude, whenever she would get something new from Makenna, she would hide it and wear it at school the next day after changing in the bathroom. Mckenna's parents were not home a lot and that is why she acted out.

Ben was thankful that his kids had such great friends and that their parents were willing to put up with them for however long, until the girl woke. He went inside to get a glass of water and change his shirt as the sun was beginning to get very hot. Going back outside, he went out to the horse pasture and filled their oat basket and filled their water troughs. Then he walked to the front of the house to work on the four gardens that they had. One was veggies, which included cucumbers, tomatoes and yellow beans. The other one was herbs and the last two were flowers, one had sunflowers and the other was pink and yellow tulips. Lucy loved tulips. So he had dedicated one garden to her, he wished that he could have had it for growing more vegetables instead of just the one, but he never complained. Lucy was the main money maker in the family, although he didn't know where she was getting her money because she never talked about her job. He had a job, but worked from home, he was in charge of designing new chemicals for any pest that dared get into a farmer's crop, it didn't pay well because it took months to come up with a new product. He went to the flower garden to work on it as it was time to plant some new tulip bulbs but then he decided that the vegetable garden needed help so he worked on that first...
