Chapter2: Stranger Things.
After having lunch with aunt Remenise, I felt good. We having lunch together after a long time but from today we will daily have food together. Now, after lunch I'm going out for carrying some finctional books, I'm fond of books as I said before. I step outside, its afternoon, The fog rolled in, swallowing the city whole. It blurred the lines between the buildings and the sky, making it feel like I was walking through a forgotten world. The streets are Narrow and winding, lined with uneven cobblestones. Each step felt like walking on history, the stones smooth from countless footsteps over the years. Aunt Remenise gave me permission for take her Grey Land Rover Defender, I denied cuz I dont know how to drive a car.
I'm wandering in foggy street of Edinburgh named Devils Row. Really a dangerous types name, like devils resided there before. The ancient stones of road filled with waters. The streets feel like pages of a book, each alley hiding a chapter waiting to be read.
I saw a Street musician he was singing a hot rock song.
The Street Musician says in cheerful, inviting way "A coin for a tune, miss? I promise you’ll leave with a story."
I smiled and replied "A story? Alright, but it better be a good one."
The Street Musician grinning, mysteriously "Good? It might just change your life." I whispers to myself "Edinburgh really knows how to play tricks on your mind."
I want to borrow some books from market but before it I wanna take a coffee from street. Its 5Pm evening time I'm going through a foggy street. The fog doesn’t just cover the city; it wraps it like a secret waiting to be unraveled. From the fog a man revealed, an old man with dark brown skin and curly hair. I was just looking at him he gruff, cautiously "Mind your steps, lass. The stones here like to play tricks on newcomers."
I was amused but politely replied "Thank you, but I think I’ve already lost my way."
He nods "Aye, some paths were meant to be lost before they’re found."
I ignored him and move further by whispering "There’s something about this place—it whispers to you, even when no one is around."
I don't know where I'm wandering I've losted my way because of fog. From nearly cemetery I heard a woman, she was panicked, shouting
"Help! Somebody help me!"
I was frightened "The scream cut through the mist like a blade. My feet moved before my mind could catch up."
Than I saw a blurred motion movement, it was looking like an animal who moved but it wasn't. I was shocked then a woman came, she was looking worried and confused "Did you see what it was? An animal, maybe? Or something else?"
I shaked my head, uneasy "No... but I felt it. It consumed my whole happiness, I felt like I'm dying."
Suddenly, the people gather us. The woman angrily shouting on crowd
"We’ve been saying it for weeks! Something’s hunting out here!"
People start talking about it, then, I saw a girl who was looking at me and her lips were red like she drunk blood, as I closed my eyes for a second she dissapeared into fog. It was unbelievable but it can be my imagination why would a human wants to drink blood. Nearby, The animals were crying like they had seen a ghost.
The woman frightened, whispering "I swear, it wasn’t an animal. It had... glowing eyes."
A Crowd Member shout "Don’t be ridiculous. Animals don’t glow."
I was really scared of that incident, I was really unbelievable like the ancient history coming to light. The air felt colder here, as if whatever happened had left its mark on the ground. While back to market I encountered with hauntingly wind and whispers than I saw the castle, it was ancient and dark, like it's really a place where vampires exists. The castle surrounded by thick fog and greenery forest but fact is it felt like I’ve seen this place before, in dreams I can’t remember? Than a young innocent yet curious girl come and said "Do you like the castle? They say it’s cursed."
I was smiling cuz finally I met someone who is normal in this mysterious town "Cursed? Who says that?" I added.
The young girl grinning, mysteriously "Everyone who’s seen the lights inside when no one’s there."
I again released that no one normal here even that girl, I don't know the castle is Cursed or not, but something about the castle felt like it was calling to me." I finally saw the market than I entered for buying some books while going in bookstore I noticed a Market Vendor, a red flower he was holding said "A flower for the lady? Even in the fog, beauty needs its companion."
I couldn't control my laugh, I just bit my lip and control it, "No, thank you. I’m not sure I’d know what to do with beauty."
But he was kinda serious and looking noble man "Everyone does, lass. It’s just a matter of letting yourself see it." A stranger’s words, yet they felt like they knew me better than I knew myself.
I brought my favorite books and left to home. After drink plenty of water I told Aunt about the cemetery accident she worriedly replied that I shouldn't have gone there. Than I curiously ask her about Edinburgh history of vampires. "Do you believe in... things that aren’t supposed to exist?"
Aunt was calm, enigmatically reply "What we believe doesn’t matter. What exists does."
I was confused "That’s not an answer."
She was smiling and avoiding to reply me "It’s the only one I can give you right." Every answer here feels like another question. And every question feels like it’s hiding something dangerous.
The city is beautiful, but it hides its beauty behind shadows. Just like the people in my life. Why do I feel like I’m being pulled in every direction, yet I’m standing still? Edinburgh wasn’t just a city; it was a puzzle box, every corner hiding secrets I wasn’t sure I wanted to uncover. The castle, the fog, the whispers in the graveyard—everything feels connected, like pieces of a story I’ve forgotten. I opened my window by having my diary, I saw outside. The first thing I noticed from I window is castle, which is on hilly area and infront of our house.
The night seemed alive, every gust of wind carrying a whisper I couldn’t quite catch. The mist clung to the ground, and the darkness felt deeper than usual, pressing against the dim light of the streetlamps. Frasturated from everything I felt loveliness and when I felt lonely,I start writing.
Dear diary, Today felt like stepping into a foggy painting, where the colors were muted, but the emotions vivid. The streets of Edinburgh welcomed me with their ancient cobblestones and an eerie mist that seemed alive, weaving through alleys and curling around the edges of the old buildings. Aunt Remenise is kind but distant, her eyes holding secrets I can’t quite decipher. Her home is warm, yet something about it feels... expectant, as if it’s waiting for me to understand its story. I wandered through the market, where the vendors smiled but whispered strange tales. Then, there was the castle—I can’t get it out of my mind. It loomed on the hill, draped in shadows, pulling at me like a memory I’ve lost. The day ended with a chilling accident in the cemetery, whispers of glowing eyes and beasts in the fog. I feel like I’m part of a story I didn’t ask to be in, but I can’t look away. This city isn’t just a place; it’s a puzzle. And somehow, I think I’m meant to solve it.
