Chapter 29: The End of Chaos

The feral wolves charged at the scattering crowd as Discord took his place in the center of the madness. When the shock had washed over, many people began shifting into their wolves and fighting back.

Wolf tore apart wolf and any who were too slow or too weak to fight back were killed so quickly you could hardly tell it had happened. These changeling creatures fought back with all their strength, but in reality, they were no match for the ferocity of a werewolf.

The only advantage they really had over us was the large and unwavering amount of changelings at their disposal. We would have to endure constant attacks from them if we wanted to survive.

I rush over to Alpha Caitriona, blood still dripping from her mouth. She was shaking a little but not as violently as before. I pick her up and hide her behind a large rock in hopes she will be safe.

"M-My body is on fire!" She coughs out. "What are those... those things? I have never seen creatures like that before."

"They are the product of what happens when hatred and darkness combine," I respond. "They are weak but so plentiful, I don't know how long we can last."

Alpha Caitriona doubles over as she screams out in pain. Soon it passes over and she looks at me with a determined face.

"Go." She commands. "Something tells me you are the only one that can end this."

I stare at her, "I don't know what I'm doing! I can't end this! Truth be told I've been improvising this entire time!"

She chuckles, "No one ever knows what they are doing, but you will be more help out there than staying here and watching me."

I open my mouth to speak again but she cuts me off.

"Go... I'll be fine..."

I hesitate for a moment but I eventually nod in understanding. I rush out into the battle, dodging attacks from the feral creatures and avoiding getting caught and outnumbered.

I only had one target on my mind.

There he stood, in the center of it all, watching with a look of joy on his face at the chaos he had created. The spiny spriggian's laugh fills the air, entertained by the horrors that go on before him. He turns and begins to walk away, eyeing the land. My teeth sharpen in rage as I feel the fur grow on my back.

"KOSMAS!" I shout.

He stops dead in his tracks. The loud noises from the raging battle seem to diminish as he slowly turns around to find the source that has called out to him.

"Who foolishly dares to call me by that vile name..." His voice is low and cold, the name alone had ripped out the joy he found from the bloodshed going on around us.

"I do." I proudly state.

He narrows his large eyes at me and scoffs, "You again?" He then cocks his head to the side and examines me.

"Don't I know you from somewhere?" The spriggian asks.

"You do! You attacked me and left a scar that will never go away, just like my hatred for you!" I speak as I show the claw mark on my arm.

He looks at my arm and then back to my face, a wicked smile curling on his lips.

"No. I remember you from a time long passed." He states. "You were that baby that escaped from that fire I set years ago... I almost didn't recognize you without your mother's blood on your face!"

I tighten my hands into a fist as he threw his head back in laughter.

"Do not speak of my mother!" I sternly say.

"Then perhaps I shall speak of your father who constantly pleaded that I should spare your life." He laughs. "It became so redundant that I could only find peace from ripping his vocal cords out!"

I close my eyes and tried to fight back the tears. I couldn't let this beast see me cry. I take in a deep breath as I lift my head up and look the creature in the eyes.

"You did all that for the sake of chaos," I say. "But it will never be enough to fill the emptiness in your blackened heart, Kosmas..."

He growls at me, showing off his long sharp teeth, "My name... is Discord!"

"No, it is not!" I fight back. "That is the name you gave yourself. The Goddess Fengari, your mother, named you Kosmas..."

The spriggian roars in anger, causing the winds to blow harder. I shield my face from the harsh winds, stopping the dirt from entering my eyes.

"Have you ever studied the Tome of Entropy?" Discord questions. "It is forbidden only because it spoke the truth... the truth that pure joy comes from infinite chaos! The only way to achieve peace is to ignite the flames of war!"

He lifts his head up to look at the night sky, at the moon.

"When I told your precious Goddess of my findings, she in all her "magnificent glory" said I was a complete fool to believe such a thing and that she had no son..."

Discord looks back down at me with a wicked smile.

"She was right. This form allows me to fulfill my true purpose, one that she could never understand!" He states. "I will let nothing get in my way!"

I quickly shift into my wolf form and speed towards him. I bite down on his hand, able to rip it off in the process. The spriggian cries out in pain and anger. Using his other hand, he claws my neck, throwing me far and hard into the ground.

Unwillingly, I shift back into my human form and quickly clamp a hand over the new bleeding wound on my neck. It burns and hisses. Discord wraps his hand around my neck, slowly growing tighter.

"You werewolves always act so foolishly, never using your minds." He laughs.

"W-why..?" I choke out, "Why d-did you k-kill Alpha Alexander..?"

He looks at me confused, "Kill an Alpha? I never killed any Alpha, although that is a genius idea."

"T-The Goddess said--"

"You would believe everything she tells you, wouldn't you?" He chuckles. "Poor thing... let me just put you out of your misery."

His hand grows tighter on my neck, causing me to start going light headed from the lack of air. Something glistens out of the corner of my eye. I reach towards it, feeling the handle of one of the scimitars Alpha Caitriona and I had used when fighting one another.

With one quick moment, I pick it up and plunge the weapon into the chest of the beast. His eyes wide. In shock as his hand slides off my neck. Black smoke pours out from his wound. The spiny spriggian then burst into a mist of black smoke, forever gone from our world.

Without their leader, the remaining changelings become confused and scared. They retreat back into the shadows with their tails between their legs. I harshly cough and rub my neck, sighing in relief that this is now all over.

"Delilah!" Some shouts.

I turn my attention to see Conan rushing over to me. He picks me up and hugs me tightly. I hug him back, never wanting to let go.

"Thank god you are alive!" He says.

He lets go over me and cups my face, smiling at me.

"Conan, do me a favor?" I ask.

"Anything."

"Give me your shirt, I don't like begin naked out in the open."

He laughs and takes off his tee and hands it to me. I put it on and notice a scar on his bare chest, similar to the one's Discord had given me. I place my hand over it.

"He attacked you, too?" I ask.

He places his own hand over mine and kisses me lovingly. "Who cares? He's gone now. He can't hurt anyone anymore..."

Our loving moment is interrupted by a person running over to us.

"Conan!" She shouts, completely out of breath.

"What is it?"

"It's... it's your sister..." The woman states once she regains herself.

"And it's not good..."
