Percy's POV
Percy stared into Annabeth's eyes. They had been dating for a month now and Percy couldn't seem to take his eyes off of her.
"Hey Annabeth, I was wondering if you wanted to go explore New York with me tomorrow at 7:00?" Percy asked staring at her so intently he forgot to blink. "Like a date?" Annabeth asked winking. "Like a date." Percy responded. He had been waiting for the right time to ask her and he thought that this was it. Even though they had been on a few dates already it was still hard for Percy to ask her.
Annabeth stood up. "Where are you going?" Percy asked when she started to walk away. Annabeth looked back at Percy and leaned on Thalia's tree just a little. It was their favorite spot to hang out, and Percy had no idea why she would want to leave.
"We still have training, seaweed brain." Annabeth responded and with that she wandered off. Percy sat there for a minute thinking about how lucky he was, when he heard yelling and screaming coming from somewhere near. Percy got up, uncapped riptide and ran toward the battle.
It took Percy a few minutes to find Annabeth and when he did she was in the middle of slicing a monster in two.
"Annabeth what happened!" Percy yelled battling his own monster. "I don't know I was walking when all of the sudden the barriers fell and a bunch if monsters stormed in. Something powerful definitely did it, but I could tell it wasn't a god." Annabeth explained continuously fighting off monster after monster. Percy sliced his monster in half and looked around, the monsters had all backed away, seeing their brothers die scared them. Percy turned towards Annabeth "How did that happen!" Annabeth looked tired, her grey eyes looking around to make sure no new monsters had come. "I have no clue," she paused before continuing, "though I do know we need to set up a boarder patrol, and meet with Chiron."
*Time skip to when they talk with Chiron because I'm lazy*
"Chiron! We told you everything!" Annabeth was getting frustrated they had told Chiron everything and all he had said was, "Are you sure that's all that happened?"
Percy grabbed Annabeth's hand. Trying to calm her down.
She took a deep breath. "Chiron what do you mean?" Annabeth asked trying to make her voice sweet but failing miserably. "I mean, are you sure that's what really happened. Did you see, anything when the barrier fell?" Chiron asked looking up from the table to look Percy in the eye. "Why are you looking at me I wasn't there!" Percy said defensively. "Percy that is why I'm looking at you. Everyone else was scared and driven by adrenaline to fight, you however were just sitting around the border paying attention to everything around you. Now please answer my question." Chiron said explaining everything. Percy looked over at Annabeth to see her staring at him expectingly.
"Well, I didn't really see anything, but like Annabeth said you could sense the presence of someone or something powerful, and it wasn't a god. Though I also felt a tiny chill as if the temperature outside dropped. Chiron nodded slowly. "This is what I feared." Annabeth looked around confused. "What do you mean?" She asked for some reason whispering. Chiron looked them straight in the eye. "The elves are back." Annabeth gapped. All Percy could do was stare. "What?" He asked. Sitting up straighter. Chiron looked at Percy. "It means exactly what is sound like. There are elves and they are back." Annabeth finally spoke up, "Elves are just a myth though." Percy saw a look of confusion on her face, one that he usually never saw. Chiron started to respond when they heard banging outside.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Chiron looked up. He muttered something under his breath then aloud he said, "Go! Quick! Annabeth keep Percy alive, keep each other safe! Go!" Annabeth stood up. "We're not leaving you!" Chiron looked around as if they could get blasted to bits at any second. Then in a quiet voice he said, "Go child. You can do great things though only if you are alive." Percy looked at Annabeth to see her crying slow sad tears. Then right as he was about to pull Annabeth out. The roof came falling.
"ANNABETH RUN!" Percy yelled, then everything went black when he got hit by a peace of falling debris, the last thing he saw was a flying human, or that's what he thought he saw.
