But she will give him a spanking if he deserves it. she asked him if he knows the difference he says he does not so she explains the difference. they both get dressed as they get to the car Helen explains they're going to a special doctor that will see if he can help it make it easier for Jack to walk with his crutches . they thrive over the bridge under the main then an hour and a half into the country they drive up to the children's orthopedic hospital park the car Helen gets up first she picks up Jack out of the car put him on her hip grabs his crutches and heading to the doctors office. in the big chairs at the doctors office the two of them said next to each other Jack looks at all the animals painted on the wall his mother filled out the paperwork after about 45 minutes of waiting the nurse calls Jack's name Helen picks him up grabs his crutches and they go wait in another room for 45 minutes. hey young lady walked into the room and introduces herself as Doctor Steiner. she asked jack to walk back and forth in the room then she put him up on the table and see how far he can stretch his legs she make some notes then they take some xrays the doctor tells Jack and his mother that he needs a groin release and also a hamstring release the surgeon will help loosen his muscles so it'll make it easier for him to walk also she will do A circumcision to make it easier for Jack to go to the bathroom. the doctor also suggest a skin graft to cover the scars on his back a plastic surgeon friend will do this for free. Helen asked how much the surgery will cost and recovery. But Doctor responds here at this hospital everything is free Shriners pay for everything but you can give a donation if you like. Jack is nervous when he hears that he will have surgery he's had them before and they never well usually because his group home parents didn't do his rehab properly Helen and Doctor reassure him that they are specialist and know what they're doing . the doctor and Jack a stuffed lion tell him we will see him soon they leave the exam room and see the nurse to schedule the appointment for a month later
