Chapter 25 - Jasmine? Like the flower?

Jazz's POV -

So, turns out Al and I were intentionally misinformed by my dear best friend - Jay-Jay and that Coffee Stealer, brother of Al to teach Al a lesson and they somehow forgot that I was an innocent entrapped in their scheme.

Your life sucks.

You are telling me that?

Anyway, so after Al spent like only four freaking hours dress hunting through her and Mrs L's wardrobe, they decided to end my misery and enthrall us with the real timings which is - tomorrow. We have to attend the freaking party tomorrow. It starts around 12 tomorrow, so we'll leave tonight, stay at a hotel and go to the venue next morning.

So, that brings me to ignoring each of the three idiots I am surrounded by as everyone's packing for the night stay in city. Guess how long it takes to reach New York from San Francisco? Five freaking hours!

Ugh, seriously why am I doing this again?

Because--

I am a good person, I know.

No, you confused yourself with someone else. You are a greedy Oreo addict, doing this for a bunch of biscuits.

Whaaattt?

Here, comes the drama.

Oreos aren't just a bunch of biscuits. They are a blessing to the humanity.

Out of all I said, why I am I surprised you only clung to that bit?

"Seriously, Jazzy. I am really sorry. What more do you want me to do to earn your forgiveness?" Jay-Jay's voice draws me out of my inner turmoil.

"Let me see what you can do, Jay-Jay...." I drawl out with a not so subtle smirk playing on my lips as Jay-Jay starts to curse himself for his choice of words.

"What's the deal with your boyfriend?" I hear Coffee Stealer ask Al.

"I am still very much angry and not talking to either of you, but to answer your question. Jazz is really good at remembering people's words and pitching them against the person in her favour, meaning she can extract lots of advantage from the person. Jayson literally sold his soul to the Caffeine Queen," Al remarks darkly, enjoying the misery of the person, who pranked us.

"Advantage?"

"For her, it's obviously dealing with coffee, oreos and books."

"Books?"

"Have you suffered from amnesia? Stop repeating my words," Al argues back with her brother, her temper hiking up immediately.

"Sure, Jay-Jay, when you'll get me whatever I need, whenever I need it, I'll forgive you. Till then, bask in the glory of your last days of freedom," I say with an evil smile as I decide to go upstairs to get my bag.

Al and I packed our clothes, that were entirely chosen by her might I add, in one bag because it's just one day thing. As I was about to pick our bag, someone grabs the handle before I could. I turn around to come face to face with a chest, looking up I see Ryan gazing down at me.

"Heyyy..." Ryan draws out looking at me while cracking a nervous smile.

Rolling my eyes, I attempt to take the bag, but his grip remains strong fixating the bag. Sighing, I glare at him.

"Just please listen to me," he finally speaks to me as I merely nod to his request.

"I, uh, I am sorry, Jasmine," he apologizes to me as I arch my eyebrow in response.

Clearing his throat he starts to speak, "I am sorry for, well, letting my sister play dress up with you for so long, but honestly it wasn't supposed to be like this. I thought she would go about for two hours, after sometime I had even thought you two might have fallen asleep. God, how wrong I judged my sister, she went on for four freaking hours. But this was supposed to be a simple joke-- "

I couldn't hold my facade anymore as I burst into laughter, while Ryan gives me the 'has-she-finally-gone-total-crazy' look.

"I am sorry, I just couldn't control it anymore. As much as I would like to say I am angry, I am not really angry. I know this was a harmless joke. But, damn, your apology was so good. Honestly speaking, you should never underestimate your sister when it comes to clothes. I thought you would have learned your lesson when she designated you as her chaffeur on her shopping day."

"Yeah, well, I forgot. Wait, you are not angry?" He asks, stopping midway in his defending himself speech.

"Nope."

"Then why the heck did I apologise?" He asks, running a hand through his blonde hair.

"Because you technically did let your sister play dress up with me," I reply, grimacing at the memory of the longest four hours I had experienced.

"Hmm," he says, lost in his own thoughts.

"Maybe next time, I should let Al play dress up with you," I remark, smirking, as an idea props into my mind.

I quickly rush downstairs, finding just the person I was looking, happily eating a chocolate cupcake. My guess, Jay-Jay made up with his girlfriend.

"Al, Ryan was asking for your help in deciding his outfit for the party. He's confused and feels embarrassed to ask you," I say, wiping away all playfulness and switching on the serious mode.

"I-What? No, Lexi, I don't need your help-- "

"See, even now, he's denying," I cut off a confused looking Ryan, who just entered the kitchen with two bags, one is mine and the other one is probably his.

"Aww, brother. You don't have to be shy. I'll always help you, you are my big bro. Don't worry, as soon as we land in New York, the first thing I'll do is sort through your clothes and help you. Then I have to help Jay too. Jazz, told me he too needed my help. God, are all men so shy to ask for help in terms of clothing?" Al mumbles the last part to herself, as she happily skips away with her cupcake.

Yes, skips away. Ladies and gentlemen and fellow coffee sippers that's my best friend for you.

"YOU!!" two voices simultaneously yell at me as I look at Jay-Jay and Ryan standing with an angry and fearful look, while glaring at me.

Who knew my best friend could actually use her skills to frighten people?

"Yes, me," I reply sweetly, looking at the two of them.

"I distinctly remember not asking any kind of help from Alexia," Ryan says, glaring at me

"And neither did I ask her," Jay-Jay adds with a matching glare.

"Oh my dear, uh-yeah, I just remember I hadn't asked to 'play dress Jazz for four hours' with Alexia either. But, guess what? Life's really unfair. So, just get it. The sooner you understand it, the easier you'll get over it," I reply sweetly again as I innocently look at the two.

"I can't believe it.... She can do this?" Ryan asks, a bit shocked and a bit amusedly, I think.

"Well, revenge is a dish best served cold," I remark as I leave the two men to drown in their sorrows and exit the house.

"Come on Jazz, get in or we'll be late for flight," Al orders me as she literally pulls me inside the car.

After a few minutes Jay-Jay and Ryan also come out of the house. While Jay-Jay keeps our luggage in the trunk, Ryan talks to the driver, giving him instructions about where to go and what to do after we have left. Yes, you guessed it. We are going by Ryan's car and this is his driver, whose name I still don't know.

Soon we reach the airport thanking the driver, all of us quickly scramble off to catch the flight on time. However, it turns out we are flying through private aeroplane, courtesy of the host of the party.

Jay-Jay and Al sit in the second row, leaving me to sit with Ryan. Did I mention this aeroplane carries more guests too? Who are not so discreetly staring at Ryan and Jay-Jay.

Market name.

What?

Both of them are successful businessmen, so they have quite a name in the market.

Ohh, and how do you even know so?

When you get my age, you'll understand child.

We are of same age.

Sure, child.

Stop, calling me a CHILD.

Look, we took off.

As I busy myself with admiring the beautiful sky, I feel a pair of eyes staring at me. I turn around just in time to catch a little girl looking at me.

"Hey..." I say to the little girl, who flashes me a quick smile before shyly averting her gaze from my face to the window.

I look around to see that the little girl is sitting alone. But, she looks so cute. Her curly brown hair bounce up whenever she moves her head and those green eyes that sparkle mischievously when she looks at me while I pretend to look the other way.

But why is she sitting alone? Where are her parents?

After debating with myself for ten minutes, I make my way to the little girl.

"Hello," I greet the curious looking girl.

"Hi," she replies timidly before gesturing me to sit down beside her.

"I am Jasmine," I say, smiling at the little girl, who returns my smile with equal brightness.

"Jasmine? Like the flower?"

"Yes, like the flower," I reply, laughingly at the quick connection this little one made.

"I am Jade."

"Like the green color?"

"Yes," she replies laughingly.

"So, Jade, are you traveling alone?" I ask her as she shakes her head sideways.

"I have Miss Lee with me, but she's busy doing some work in the other room."

"I see, what's your age, Sweetie?"

"I am this many," Jade replies, holding up six fingers.

"Oh my, I didn't know you were so big, Jade," I remark with a fake shock expression as Jade giggles beside me.

"I know, Dad says I am a really smart girl," she replies, proudly as I smile at the little girl.

Let's just replace Mrinali with this cutie.

Mrinali is my sister, no matter how much I wish to do the above, I just can't.

"I'll be back soon," Jade says as she starts to run after the air hostess, her sweet voice calling out to the tall lady.

But, before she could run further or I could ask her to stop running, her little body is pushed away by a fake blonde haired woman, who's dressed rather provocatively.

As Jade's body collides with the woman, she ends up stumbling back and falling on her knees, while the lady screams as the beverage in her hand now drips from her clothes.

"You little minx! Where the hell were you walking off to? Are you blind or what? Not only did you spill my decaffe coffee, you also ruined my expensive clothes, which by the looks of your parents can never afford. You little--"

"ENOUGH!" I yell at the lady as people start to turn around to look at the commotion. In normal conditions, I would have felt distracted and embarrassed by the attention, but right now my body was buzzing with anger.

"And who are you?" the lady asks, arching her eyebrow as I help Jade get up from the floor. The poor girl has literally tears running down her cheeks. It breaks my heart to see her like that. I slowly wipe her tears from my handkerchief.

"Go find Ms. Lee," I tell Jade, who shakes her head and clinging onto my legs as if her life depended on them.

Sighing, I pick up the little girl in my arms, as she snuggles her head into the crook of my neck as I turn to focus at the lady.

"I don't care who you are or how much your clothes cost because the way you talked to her was very rude, especially considering the fact that it was you who collided with Jade. If you had paid attention to your surroundings rather than walking around with coffee in one hand and tab in other, perhaps you would have saved your precious expensive clothes," I say, gritting my teeth in anger.

"Stop lying, you bi-- "

"Stop cursing around a kid!"

"Does it look like I care-- "

"Well, you should considering you have to apologize for pushing Jade away and screaming at her-- "

"I am not going to apologize. Why should I apologise? Do you have any proof that I was the one who pushed her?" she asks, an evil smirk playing on her lips as my lips curve in an equally evil smirk.

"Al give me your camera," I call out to my best friend, who even in her half asleep state manages to hear me.

"You see Ms-whose-name-I-don't-care-to-know-about, my best friend here has a weird obsession with recording every moment of her travel, claiming they'd make wonderful memories. So, here this camera has the whole thing recorded," I explain to the shocked looking lady as I rewind and play the video of how the woman collided with Jade.

"Well, I have the evidence, now. So, you better start speaking before I upload this video online and sue you not only for human manhandling but child harassment as well. I am pretty sure when people get to know how much the new upcoming model Miss Harvey loves children, it would definitely help your career," I say with an innocent smile as the woman visibly pales.

I didn't know about the model part myself, but Al had told me a bit about all the passengers the moment we stepped into the aeroplane. Bless Al for wasting her time away in reading those gossip magazines.

"I-I, you-u wouldn't," Miss Harvey stutters, shock evident in her voice.

"Are you saying I am not capable enough to upload this video?" I ask, arching my eyebrow up.

"No-o, I wasn't challenging you or-r anythin-ng like that. I," she pauses for a moment, inhaling a deep breathe, she looks at Jade and then glares at me.

"I am sorry. It was my fault," she apologizes to Jade, while her eyes are filled with anger as with one final glare she struts away.

"Are you alright?" I ask the little girl, who gives me her beautiful smile.

"Thank you," Jade says, as I put her down gently on her seat.

"For saving me from the mean lady," she mumbles.

"Anytime Jade," I say, smiling as the little girl stands up and suddenly hugs me.

"Thank you so much for your help, Ma'am. I am so sorry, I had to attend an important call from Miss Jade's parents," a woman says as she rushes towards Jade.

"Miss Lee?" I ask, apprehensively.

"Yes, thank you so much, Ma'am. I-- "

"It's okay, you don't have to thank me. But please don't leave her alone like that. Her parents have put you incharge to care, protect and look after their daughter in their absence," I cut her off, a bit angry at seeing the carelessness on the part of this woman to leave a child like that.

"I am sorry, Ma'am. It will never happen again."

I simply nod in response as I detangle myself from the grip of the sleeping child, who fell asleep while hugging me. While placing a quick kiss on her forehead, I make my way back to my seat, where a proud, amused looking Ryan greets me.

"You did good, not bad for a Disney Freak," he remarks while smirking as I roll my eyes but my lips betray me by curling up.
