Chapter 23 - You Are Not The Boss Of Me!
Jazz's POV -
Sighing, I open the door to come face to face with the last person I wish to see on this planet.
"What the hell are you doing here!?" I yell at the abomination sitting on my bed, going through my things.
"Now, now Jessie, is that the way to address your best friend?" Aman asks with a smirk playing on his lips.
"EX-best friend!" I spat in response as I decide to stick around the door, already feeling my anger coursing through my veins.
"What are you doing here?" I ask a bit more calmly as he simply raises his eyebrow in response.
"I won't repeat my-- "
"Just please hear me out and then I'll leave you in peace here. Okay?"
"No, not okay. I don't want to hear you or your lies. So, just get the hell out of here," I reply glaring at him as I snatch my English books away from him.
"My feelings for you were not lies, Jessie-- "
"It's Jasmine for you," I say, clenching my fist.
"As I was saying, before I was rudely cut off, my feelings for you were never lies and I have and I still will apologize to you if I hurt you in any-- "
"IF?! If you say? You f**king used my sister to get to me, you manipulative jerk!" I scream at him.
"I never asked her to develop feelings for me-- "
"So, that justifies you using her?"
"Yes! I will go to any limits I have to, to get you. You are the love of my life, I'll not lose you to her or to anyone!"
"You call this love?" I ask him, letting out a humorless laugh.
"If you truly loved me, you would have never hurt me, you would have never hurt my best friend, you wouldn't have used such means to manipulate my emotions!"
"You call her your best friend, your sister? That b***h was never your best friend, she was f**king using you, that w**re of a social climber. I just showed her, her place-- "
"SHUT THE HELL UP! YOU DON'T HAVE ANY RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT HER, NOT AFTER WHAT YOU DID, YOU F**KING PRICK!!" I scream at him as I turn around to leave the waste of oxygen to rotten here, but suddenly he grabs me by my wrist, pinning me down the wall.
"You will not disrespect me, not now, not ever," he says as he holds me by my shoulder, glaring at me.
"You are not the boss of me. I will respect whoever I feel deserves to be and you will never earn my respect," I spat back as I push him away.
"Why don't you just accept my feelings? Why do you care so much for that b**ch, she was just a s**t-- "
"FOR GOD SAKE, SHUT YOUR F**KING MOUTH, BEFORE I BEAT THE HELL OUT OF YOU!!" I scream back.
"If I knew that, that s**t would have destroyed our friendship, I would have never used that approach," he mumbled, frowning at me.
"The person you keep on calling names like s**t, w***e, has a name. She was my best friend! How dare you call her all this when you knew she was always f***ing loyal to you, too loyal to you to let her take her virginity!!"
"I never asked her to give it to me, but that attention seeker just couldn't let us see together-- "
"US?! Us?!! There was and will never be an us, get that through your f***ing thick skull."
"ENOUGH! Don't push me, Jessie!" He said grabbing my wrist tightly, if I wasn't so angry I might have winced, but right now all I see is red.
"Leave my hand, you manipulative bas-- "
"SHUT UP!" He screamed throwing me on the bed like a rag doll as I winced from the sudden contact.
"Why? You can't hear the truth?!"
"YOU!!" He yells as he jumps towards me but I roll away from him, just as I was about to reach the door, he grabs my ankle, pulling me down on the floor with him as he starts to twist my arm.
"You. Will. Never. Disrespect. Me," he repeats while gritting his teeth while clutching my wrists tightly in his arms as I continue to thrash under him, but he has me pinned down under his weight.
Finally finding an opening, I swing my leg, kicking him right in his balls. As he groans in pain, I push him away. Sitting up, I punch him straight in the jaw, making him stagger away from me. But I grab his right arm, pulling him back and twisting it. Holding his arm there, I forcefully make his look at me as I punch his nose. Hearing a sickening crack, I let him fall on the ground.
"This was for f***ing thinking for even one second that you could play with me like a doll, push me, touch me and I won't do a f***ing thing. This is real life! Women are not always the damsel in distress, you better get this through that f***ing thick skull of yours!!" I yell at him as I run away from the disgusting human.
"ALEXIA!!" I scream loudly, but as I hear Aman cussing around, I break into a sprint looking for my best friend, who had a lot of explanation to give. But I was more worried thinking if Aman did something to her.
"STOP!!" He yells back, but I don't stop, blindly going in any direction my legs could as he followed me like a madman.
I look at a slightly opened door and immediately rush to it. I open it, only to see find Alexia and Jayson playing video games together with their headphones. No wonder they couldn't hear me. Upon seeing me, they all stop what they were doing, Al's the first one to react. At the same time, Ryan comes up from behind, seeming to have ran here.
"Shit, what happened Jazz? You are sweating do much and-- "
"Get back, you b**ch, I wasn't finished up with you. I'll teach you a lesson, so you'll never ever disrespect me again!!" Aman's loud voice cuts off Alexia's words as I feel myself getting paler, the adrenaline from before leaving my body. I am not scared of him in terms of physical battles, but he uses his words to trick my mind and to be honest I am more more scared for my friends. I just want him away from me and my friends, is it too much to ask for?
Just then Aman walks through the door, looking at all of us, before fixing his eyes on me.
"Oh hello guys! Jessie and I were just heading out, we talked it all out. So, if you don't mind me stealing her away from you for some time, I'd appreciate it," he says as he steps forward to grab my wrist, but he's pushed back with a force as Ryan steps in front of me, hiding me from the prick.
"She is not going anywhere with you or in other words you are never coming near her, who ever you are," Ryan replies as he crosses his arms across his chest.
"What the hell man, I thought you all were cool with me hanging out with her," Aman says with fake humor evident in his voice.
"Listen here and listen carefully because I won't repeat myself. I want you to get the f**k off my property this instant before I call the security! I am not like my sister who'd easily believe whatever crap you spewed to talk to Jasmine. I believe what I see and from what I am seeing is that Jasmine doesn't want to talk to you, so for the last time GET LOST!!" Ryan scream at him, his shoulder tensed as he glared at the man.
"You'll regret it, especially you Jasmine. This isn't over!" He spat, before exiting the room.
As soon as he leaves, I exhale a sigh of relief and find myself crumbling onto the floor.
"Jazz?" Al says as she kneels beside me, looking sad and guilty.
"I am so sorry, I shouldn't have let him in. I had totally forgotten he was here in the house when you came. If I knew I swear I would have thrown-- " her words are cut off as I pull her into a tight hug, scared to even imagine what all he could have done to my best friend.
"It's okay Al, I am all good. But please never meet or talk to him ever without telling me," I reply softly as we break the hug and she nods.
"You sure, you are good Jazzy?" a concerned looking Jay-Jay asks as he too kneels down beside me.
"Yes, Jay-Jay, I am good," I reply with a small smile as he too hugs me.
"Thank God, I am also really sorry Jazzy, we shouldn't have believed him even the slightest. God! We should have been there! God knows what that psycho would have done had you not find us. So, sorry, Jasmine," Jay-Jay says, breaking the hug.
"It's okay, Jay-Jay. I am no longer angry with either of you. However, if you really want to make it up to me, feel free to make me some waffles and coffee," I reply cheekily as Al and Jay-Jay laugh at my answer, before agreeing to do so and head downstairs, leaving me alone with Ryan, who hadn't spoken a word since Aman left.
"Thank you for your help, Ryan," I say looking down at the carpet I was currently sitting down. I heard a sigh and shuffling as Ryan sat next to me.
"You know Lexi is an idiot, too emotional for her own good," he replies, as I continued to be fascinated by the carpet.
"So, I know I shouldn't be angry at her, but I am. If we weren't here, if you were alone with that bastard, I-I don't even want to think of how much more harm he could have inflicted upon you."
"What do you mean?" I ask, looking up to see Ryan, who was already gazing down at me.
"I was in the garage, fixing up my old bike when I heard screams and loud noises as if things were being shifted here and there. First I decided to ignore it, thinking it was Al's doing. But the noises only grew louder and I recognized them instantly. The voice was yours, you were screaming, yelling so loudly and then those thundering noises as if someone was being pushed around. So, I quickly made my way to your room. But, it seems I was a bit late."
"No Ryan, you weren't late. In fact, you actually helped me a lot by throwing that sorry excuse of a human out of here, away from me," I reply with a small smile but that only deepens his frown.
"Then, care to explain why your wrists have these marks?" he asks looking at my wrists, which are red and do have impressions resembling fingerprints. I quickly hide my hands behind my back. However, Ryan gently pulls them back, tracing my wrists with his fingerpad.
"Wait here," he says as he exits the room, only to come back later with a first aid kit.
"Let me see it," he states as he takes hold of my right hand and takes out some ointment from the box and carefully applies it on my reddened wrist. I study his actions silently as he repeats the process with my left wrist.
"Thank you," I whisper as I retract my hands back to my lap.
"I am going to ensure he is punished like anything for physically harming you, not just because you are my sister's friend, but because no one has the right to touch anyone without their consent and that bastard needs to learn this," Ryan replies angrily while closing the first aid box.
"No," I whisper, looking at the floor.
"What?" Ryan asks, lifting my chin up, so that I was now looking at his face.
"Let it go this once, Ryan. He is a family friend and his mother is basically like my mother's sibling. His family and my family are really close. If you involve police and all, it would be of no use, my mother would in the end persuade me to drop it off," I explain as he looks at me.
"So? It's not our problem that your family decides to turn blind to his behaviour. This doesn't mean you should be agreeing with this sort of treatment."
"No, I don't agree to it. But, don't involve police, just this once. If he does something else, I'll personally tell you about it."
Silence greets me as Ryan looks deep in thought. I can't believe I am asking this from Ryan, for that bastard.
"Pleasseeee Coffee Stealer," I request him while squeezing his hand and giving him my best puppy dog face.
"What are you? Five?" Ryan asks scoffing, amused at my tactics.
"Nope, I think I am at least seven," I reply, while stroking my non-existential beard as Ryan laughs at my childish behavior.
"Fine, I'll let it slide this once. Okay, no police this time. But if he ever tried anything, you have to promise me, you will tell me and do something about it legally."
"Okay, you have my word. I promise you," I say while smiling, but the moment is cut short by the fire alarm.
Wait, what?
"Was that..."
"Fire alarm?" Ryan completes the sentence for me.
"I hope they only burnt the food, unlike the kitchen they burned down last time," I mumble to myself, as Ryan looks at me with shock.
"Sh!t! Why did you even ask them to make food, when you know the only thing they will end up cooking is us and this house?" Ryan asks, panick evident in his voice as we hurried downstairs.
