chapter 1. [vilana]
‘’It’s all your fault, Villana,’’ Vilana’s mothers voice whispered in her head. “If you hadn’t slowed us down, your father would still be alive!” The words repeated in Vilana’s head over and over, not ever leaving her alone. Vilana tossed and turned in her sleep because of it.
“Vilana? Vilana!” Phantom’s voice drowned into her reality. “You were having a bad dream…again. Seriously, tell me what’s wrong.” “It’s nothing. I don't want to bother you with it…again.’’ Vilana mumbled, rubbing her eyes to adjust to the light. “Besides, it’s not important.” “Vi, if it’s bothering you, it is important.” Phantom replied, sitting down on her bed.
Phantom and Vilana had known each other for years now. Ever since the two ran away and bumped into one another, they were brother and sister. They almost know everything about each other. Almost. “I don’t want to bother you with it...Besides you need sleep.’’ She responded “I don’t sleep, remember?” Phantom replied, raising an eyebrow. Vilana sighed. (Phantom: I mean in reality, Vilana gave me a: “You serious?” look but uhhhh) “It’s about time that changed.” Phantom gave her a look and she let out a breath.
“Fine,” She said, “I’ll tell you about it.’’ Vilana grumbled as she grabbed her robotic arm, starting to tinker with it.
She let her hands graze the smooth metal, a chill running through her veins. She needed to prepare herself for a second.
“It’s alright, Vi. Take as long as you need.” Phantom whispered. “It was a-about my mother.’’ Vilana snapped the finger off her robotic arm, completely avoiding Phantom’s gaze. “So,” Phantom dragged the words out, “Where does she live?”
“Phantom!’’ Vilana rolled her eyes at his antics. He shrugged. She blew out a breath and continued, “I really don't remember...The last time I saw her was when I was stealing back my stuff.’’ She twisted the robotic hand off, messing with the circuits. (
“All good, I’ll just look for her and THEN kill her. How does she look?” He asked. “You don't need to kill her, Phantom. It's not her fault, it's mine.’’ She mumbled. “No, nothing is your fault,” Phantom replied, “And yes, I don’t need to kill her, I want to. Now how does she look and where does she usually hang out?” He asked, fiddling ominously with a knife.
Vilana zoned out for a minute as she mumbled under her breath. “It wouldn’t have happened if I wasn’t there.” “Hello? Vi? Hey, don’t feel bad, okay? Actually, if it were ‘your fault’, it’s a good thing. If you hadn’t done this thing I don’t know of, we wouldn’t have met.” Phantom rubbed her back, clearly not used to comforting someone. Vilana shook her head. “I don't think it being my fault is a good thing.”
“Well I do since now, I know who you are,” Phantom pursed his lips, “You can sort of tell I’m not used to affectionately talking to someone.” Vilana hugged herself, curling up into a Vilana-ball. “Hey, Vi,” Phantom put his arm around her, “Just go to bed for the night. It’s alright. You’ve been through a lot.” “Fine.”
