Chapter 13
Alex's POV
"Alex, you don't have to go," Shawn said as I went through my closet.
"I can't miss too many days of school," I said and grabbed the clothes I wanted. I walked out and laid them on my bed.
"Ok, just call me if you ever want to come home," he said and I nodded, he walked out shutting my door and I sighed.
I finished up my outfit and just pinned my hair up. I didn't really worry about much makeup, I slipped on my gray Vans last.
I grabbed my book bag and tucked my phone in my back pocket. I walked out of my room and walked downstairs.
"Alex, I made pancakes," Ashton said and handed me a plate, I smiled and shook my head.
"I'm sorry, baby, but I'm not hungry," I said and she looked down and I ruffled her hair.
We walked out of the house and I didn't even worry about getting in the front seat. Jake won this time so I just got in the back, I just wanted to get to school- I can't believe I just said that.
We soon got to school and it was silent as all three of us got out.
"So, this is how the rest of our life is going to be?" Jake asked and I rolled my eyes. "We're family and you two won't even look at each other."
"Let it go, Jake," I said as I walked past him.
"For once, I agree," Kahn spoke up and I walked past him. I walked into the school and went straight pass the football team.
I didn't see Parker standing with them so I looked down and kept walking.
Parker's POV
"McKenna, spit it out again and I'm going to give up," I said and she whined. "Baby, I know you're sick, but you have to eat."
"Mama," she whined and I sighed.
"Alex isn't here right now," I said and kissed her hand. "Come on, Princess, eat the bananas." She poked out her lip and I rolled my eyes. "Ok, eat two of your banana slices and you can take a bubble bath." I put it to her lips and she hesitated before her lips parted.
After she finished up her two slices, I picked her up out of her highchair and headed upstairs towards my room. Her head rested on my shoulder as she played with my nipple.
"Stop that, it tickles," I chuckled, I felt her smile against my chest and I kissed her fevered forehead.
"Ok, you have to choose a bath bomb," I told her as I walked into the bathroom. I carefully leaned her over the basket that held the colorful bath bombs. She reached over grabbing the bright pink bath bomb. "I hope you grow up to hate pink." She gurgled with a wide smile, I shook my head and kissed her temple.
"Go get your toys," I said, I sat her down letting her wobble over to her crate of bath toys. I twisted the hot and cold knobs letting the water run into the tub. I glanced over at McKenna, who had balanced herself up against the crate, and watched her toss out her favorite toys. "I think that's enough."
She yelled out a string of baby language as she swung her arms around.
"I know you are not talking back to me," I said sternly, she fell back in her butt and crawled back over to me. She struggled to walk sometimes, but she crawled when she was lazy. "Put your bath bomb in."
She tossed the bath bomb in making a 'thump' sound as it dropped into the bath water. McKenna cackled at the action making me laugh at her reaction.
I unhooked her onesie and pulled it overtop of her head making her whined a bit.
"Where's McKenna?" I asked in a playful tone, I pulled the onesie off and smiled at her. "There's my baby girl." I pulled her diaper off last and sat her in the pink, bubbly bath water. "Can daddy get a kiss?"
She opened her mouth and I smiled as I leaned down pecking her lips. I grabbed the cup from the the side of the tub and scooped up the water.
She grabbed her turtle bath toy and shook it making the water swirl inside. She looked up at me as she struggled to get the word out.
"Kenna," she said, she pushed the turtle towards me and I smiled.
"I had a baby turtle, his name was tiny Tim," I sang as I poured the water over her head. "I put him in the bath, to see if he could swim." She attempted to sing along in baby language, which made me laugh. "He drank up all the water, he ate up the soap."
I grabbed the baby shampoo and poured it on top of her hair. I closed to top and scrubbed the shampoo in her scalp.
"Now my baby turtle, has bubbles in his throat," I finished off, she attempted to make the sound with her mouth, but it didn't come out like it was suppose to.
I finished up washing her hair and pouring the water over her soapy body. I grabbed her towel from the sink counter and let it unfold.
"No," she whined as she moved away from me.
"McKenna Lee," I said sternly, she stared up at me with her blue-green eyes before she moved back towards me. She pulled herself up and I picked her up from the bubbly water.
After I let the water out and dried off McKenna, I put a diaper on her and wrapped her up in a fluffy robe.
"Grab your paci," I said, I leaned her over my bedside table where her pacifier lay. She snatched it quickly and popped it in her mouth.
At least fifteen minutes had passed and McKenna hadn't even started dozing off. She just squalled in my ear which was really irritating me.
"Fine, let's see if a bottle will make you sleepy," I said, I didn't even make it to her mouth before my back was accompanied by spit up.
"McKenna," I groaned, I sat her on the floor and walked to the kitchen. I grabbed her bottle from last night from the fridge and walked back to the living room. "Look, Scooby-Doo's on."
I let her drinking her bottle as her eyes watched the TV. I pulled my spit up shirt off as I headed for the laundry room. I really need to do laundry.
I finished up separating the whites from the colors and I started up the washing machine.
"McKenna," I called, she was being too quiet. She was either asleep or she was into something. "Kenna." I walked out from the laundry room and into the living room.
I didn't see McKenna laying in the floor where I left her and her toys were untouched. I was about to freak out till I heard a soft voice coming from the hallway.
I was about to follow the sound of the voice until I heard it getting closer. Alex walked around the corner singing softly as she rubbed McKenna's back.
"What are you doing here?" I asked sharply, Alex's head shot up and she looked like a deer caught in headlights.
"Justice got all your missing work together and asked me if I could bring it by," she replied in a whisper. "I was going to sneak back out, but McKenna saw me."
She didn't say anything as she walked towards me, but she walked past me to get to the couch. She was careful as she laid her down trying not to wake her up, she patted her back until her soft whines stopped.
"I left your work on the table in the hallway," she said as she turned away from McKenna.
"Is that all you came for?" I asked blankly, she played with her fingers as she looked at anything except me.
"I know I already thanked you, but I just want to thank you again," she said softly.
"Is that all?" I asked, and crossed my arms across my chest. She finally looked up at me with confusion in her eyes.
"What'd I do to you?" She asked with more confidence this time.
"Not one text, not one call, nothing from you," I said, I felt the anger rising in my chest. "It's not like I care anyways."
"Fuck you, Hudson," she said through her teeth. "I thought you stayed with me, because you actually cared about someone other than yourself."
"No, fuck you, skater girl," I said calmly, but anger was still present in my tone. "I can't believe I ever got myself involved with someone like you." My cheek suddenly stung from the impact of Alex's hand.
My jaw twitched and my fists clenched and unclenched by my sides. I turned my head back over to Alex and glared into her eyes. I was swift as I jerked her by her shirt making her yelp and tossed her back against the wall.
"Do you understand what I can do to you?" I said through gritted teeth.
"Do your worst," she replied not backing down, I chuckled dryly and took a step closer.
"I don't have to touch you to ruin your life, Alex Ramsey," I said in a whisper, but I saw her confidence slightly drain from her body. "Everyday you walk into that school, every class you have to be in, just walking down the hallway. I will do my worst." Her jaw twitched as she stepped closer, she gazed into my eyes never breaking eye contact.
Her angry expression suddenly changed, her face just looked blank. She took a stepped back from me letting her back hit the wall.
"Do you need a pacifier, you big baby?" I snapped at her, she started to squat down and finally let herself fall on her butt. "Stop being dramatic."
"He wanted to rape me, Parker," she finally spoke. "My body was the only thing he saw in me."
"You just so happened to be the girl he ran into," I said as I rolled my eyes.
"Remember when I told you my mom burnt me?" She asked. "She's did so much worse." I wanted to be mad at her, but I was too interested.
"What's worse than being burnt?" I asked, I sat down in front of her and crossed my legs. She looked up at me and smirked.
"She sold me one time for a gram," she said, my mouth opened, but nothing was coming out. "I bit the guy when he made a move on me, he beat me till I passed out."
"Oh my god,"
"It got worse after my dad left us," she said. "One of my moms friends moved in, Jason." Her jaw twitched once she said his name. "I was his rag doll."
"What'd he do to you, Alex?"
"The real question is, what didn't he do to me," she said, her eyes were glued on the carpet. "You'd think after awhile you'd get use to the pain, but he made sure it hurt every time." I reached my hand over and rested it on her knee, she jumped at the action and her eyes were wide. "Oh my god."
"Alex, it's ok," I attempted to calm her down, but she hopped from her spot and tangled her fingers in her hair.
"I wasn't suppose to tell anyone," she panicked, I tried to grab her, but wouldn't stop struggling.
"Alex–"
"They'll split us up and it'll be all my fault," she shrieked, I grabbed her jaw and made her look at me.
"Alexandria," I said through my teeth, her mouth gaped and her pained blue eyes looked into mine. "That's something that you were going to tell someone sooner or later."
"But Parker–"
"I'm not telling anyone," I said softly, I took my hand away from her jaw and cupped her cheek. "Nobody will ever hurt you like that again, do you understand me?"
"Don't touch me like that," she said through her teeth as she moved from my touch. "Don't look at me with pity, I don't want it."
"I didn't know–"
"I don't want pity love," she shot at me with clear disgust in her voice. "I don't want anything from you."
"Why do you have to be so ungrateful?" I snapped back, she scoffed as she shook her head. "Get out of my house."
"Gladly," she replied, she turned on her heel and stormed out the door. She didn't forget the slam it on her way out.
"Dada," McKenna cried out. I hate you, Alex.
