Epilogue:

_____

Funny how life works.

It only takes one moment, one second to change everything.

It could be one second, or it could be three hundred seconds. Or maybe not even one second, maybe only three milliseconds for a sudden idea to pop up into your head, or for a sudden event to take place into your life.

But isn't that the phrase you've heard so many times before?

The phrase that every single movie and book mention at some point? You hear it so much, that it actually seems overused, almost cliché, right?

Well, you're about to hear it again here.

And again.

And again.

So, yes. It only takes one moment to change everything.

And I, Bree Hayland, am the living proof of that.

"Hey, what are you doing, Bree?" Michael asks me as he closes the door of my room behind him and takes a seat on the empty chair by the computer.

"Oh, I'm just... Writing some stuff... Nothing important," I quickly stammer, and close the Wattpad page I was currently writing on.

"Really?" He inches his head closer to the computer screen. "Let me see."

"No, it's nothing. Really."

"Oh, c'mon. I saw you there. Your hands were basically flying across that keyboard... Just let me take a peek."

I open my mouth to protest, but before I can even master a response, he takes my mouse and opens back the site.

His eyes run through the words as he starts reading my chapter. "The bad boy has Wattpad... Epilogue... It only takes one moment to change everything... " He frowns. "What's this?"

"Uh, it's just some book that I was writing... I told you it was nothing."

"It doesn't look like nothing to me... Wait a second." He frowns at the screen, the black and white colours reflecting into his irises. "The bad boy has Wattpad?"

"That's the title of the book... " I scratch my head, my cheeks coming to a darker shade of red.

He widens his eyes. "Seriously? So is the title like... About me?"

"Uh... Surprise...?" I try for a small smile, which only comes as more of a grimace. "I'm a major dork, aren't I?"

The corner of his mouth stretches into a slight smile, but he quickly covers it. "What, no... It's just that... I'm very surprised, that's all. I mean, why would you write - "

"I meant to tell you. About this book. But only after it would've been published on Wattpad."

"Okay," he nods, his gaze still stuck on the computer like superglue. "I don't know what to say, Bree... I mean, I'm flattered."

"Well, you should be. Writing an entire book centered on a single guy - one I deeply care about, for that matter - is like, probably the most romantic thing I'll ever do for you."

"Wow..." He turns his head toward me, a strange glint flashing into his dark eyes. "Is it weird that I'm actually a little turned on by this?"

I laugh and nudge his arm. "Michael!"

"Come on, Bree. We've been dating for over three months. I'm allowed to say stuff like this now," he smirks.

I roll my eyes at his antics, but my cheeks fail to take back their natural colour. "Don't distract me. I still need to finish the epilogue so I can publish it."

"Okay, but one thing before you publish it. Don't mean to offend or anything, but you gotta change the title."

I raise my eyebrows. "What? Why?"

"Well," he moves his chair closer to the computer desk, "That title sounds like something a horny pre-teen girl would choose."

I widen my eyes. "What?"

"Yeah, I mean... The bad boy? Is this a key word for masked porn or -"

"Michael!" I gasp, feeling my face boiling with a hundred degrees. "It's so not that, okay? If you knew a thing or two about Wattpad, is that bad-boy titles and books are extremely popular."

"So you admit it. Wattpad girls are really horn -"

"Stop it! That's not true. Plus, I'm a Wattpad girl, too. And I'm pretty sure my hormones are in a perfect state, thank you very much."

"You wanna know my opinion on that topic?" He demands.

"No."

"Well, my opinion is," He begins, completely ignoring my previous sentence, "Is that you're completely ignoring your hormones to keep your reputation intact. Which is the exact opposite of what I used to do."

I shake my head. "Negative."

"But you know, you can't keep them away forever. Not from me," he smirks, running a hand on my red cheek.

I put his hand away and turn my attention back to my computer. "Still need to finish this, Michael." I take a look at my previous words, and formulate an idea for my next paragraph.

I rearrange my position in my chair and start typing.

So, yes. The moment I'm talking about, the moment that changed my life, is actually when I decided to write a book.

This book.

The one that you happen to be reading right now.

And there's one thing I'm sure of. If it weren't for that one person, things wouldn't have been the same.

For instance, this book wouldn't even have been here without him.

Heck, if it weren't for him, my life might still have been less complicated. And even though I hate to say it, probably much worse, too.

Yes, you heard me right.

@MichaelL99, this goes out to you.

"Wow, Bree..." He blinks, his gaze focused to the computer screen as he looks at it in awe. "This is so... adorable."

"Thank you," I smile at him, my insides warming up almost instantly.

"You know... I never asked you. Why are you writing this book?" Michael asks, his eyes gazing into mine with curiosity.

"Well... People who read your book on Wattpad saw your side of the story. You know, your low-key rudeness which was only a mask for your inner nerdy personality -"

"Aw, don't say it like that," he whines, "You make my character sound cliché. And lame."

I clear my throat. "Anyway, now people will have the chance to read my side of the story. No details left. The real thing."

He purses his lips. "I take it back. Your character is the lame one."

I scowl at him, and he immediately chuckles. "Relax. I was just kidding, Bree. But seriously. If you're genuinely going to write this book, at least give people something more to look forward to."

I turn my head back at him, raising an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"You know..." he grips the side of my face and gives me a full kiss on the lips. "Something like this?"

I swallow. "Um, y-yeah," I clear my throat, "We-we could, I mean - "

He shuts me up by kissing me again.

Unfortunately, a thought flashes into my mind, making me flinch. I break the kiss and get up from my chair.

"Wait! Matt and Chloe should be here any moment now," I recall. "We invited them over to watch a movie... Remember?"

Michael groans and also stands up from his seat. "Why did you invite them?"

"They're our friends, Michael," I say, "Plus, we haven't really hung out since they got together... And that was two months ago. It'd be our first double date, with Matt and Chloe being a couple and all."

"Well, I wouldn't worry about it. They're almost never punctual, anyway," he offered with a cheeky smile. "So..."

He leans in and kisses me, his hands cupping my face. I close my eyes and give in, enjoying the moment as I kiss him back.

He pushes me a little bit further, until my knees hit the bed frame. With our faces still glues together, I carefully sit down on the bed.

Thank God my parents are away for the weekend, I think to myself as I rest my back onto the soft mattress of my medium-sized bed and let him tower over me.

I can hear Michael muttering something whilst I keep kissing him, but his words come out as muffled. I ignore them and deepen the kiss, my hands running onto his back.

"Bree," he calls, this time more clear.

I reluctantly break the kiss and look at him, a puzzled expression on my face. "What? Is something wrong?"

"No, no," he automatically responds, shaking his head. "Everything is fine." He plants a small kiss onto my neck. "It's just that... There's one more thing you should know about me..."

"What?"

He leaves more kisses on my neck, making my skin tickle. I can feel my heart beating with adrenaline, almost busting out of my ribcage at this point.

I wonder if this is how a heart attack must feel like? My inner voice questions.

He stops the kisses and slowly raises his lips closer to my ears.

I can feel his heavy breath on my neck as he whispers, "... I'm still a virgin."
