A little paint never hurt anyone
Marinette
It had been 3 days since the incident. Adrien and I got along a bit better. Don't get me wrong! I still dislike him, think he's arrogant and his ego is bigger than the Eiffel tower, and of course we fight almost every day, but I don't mind living with him. It turned out that he's actually good as a few things, one of them being cooking. Fine, I admit it. He's a freaking amazing cook. Everything he makes is delicious! I tried to bake bread once, and it came out that hard that I could seriously kill a person with it. Ironic since my parents own a bakery. Anyway, today was going to be the official first day of classes. All we did up till now was have fun and partying, well not me personally. I set my alarm at 7, so I could properly get ready. However, when it rang...
"Marinette! Turn that thing off! It's annoying." Adrien groaned, hearing the robotic beeps.
"Isn't that the very essence of alarms?" I said, shifting around at my bed.
I felt sleepy, didn't have the energy to get up, or turn the alarm off.
"Marinette!" He sleepily yelled.
"Fine, fine!" I said, as I forced myself out of bed.
I turned off the alarm, but there was no point going back to bed. O was already awake. I went into the bathroom and washed my teeth and face. I brushed my hair and headed back out, to wake up Adrien. I shook him lightly, but he just waved his hand in annoyance.
"Come on Adrien! Our classes start in less than an hour!" I said.
He groaned again and shifted positions so he was facing me now.
"Wanna ditch first period?" He said, smirking.
"Is that the first impression you want to make?" I rolled my eyes.
"I suppose not!" He sighed as he got up.
While he was in the bathroom, I changed into the outfit I had picked yesterday. It consisted of a red plait skirt, a white tucked in T-shirt with tiny buttons were the cleavage was supposed to be, and a pair of black flats.
When Adrien came out of the bathroom, he looked surprised, seeing me all ready to go.
"And they say girls take forever to chose what to wear!" He scoffed.
He quickly got ready and left our dorm. As we got down the stairs, we begun meeting Adrien's fanclub. There was no way I was dealing with them!
"Bye Adrien. See you later!" I waved as I maneuvered through them.
I walked to the cafeteria where I found Alya and Nino, who were kind enough to save me a seat.
"Good morning girl!" She waved at me.
"Hi Alya. How have you been?" I asked as I sat down with them.
"Waking up this early was awful!" She groaned.
"Especially after staying up that late, to find Alya's favourite glasses." Nino added, making Alya blush a little.
"Marinette bought me these glasses! They have meaning to me!" She hissed.
I chuckled and took a look around me. I had never been to the cafeteria before; never thought it would be special. But I was wrong! The atmosphere was really calm and there was a second floor, overlooking the Eiffel tower. It could prove to be a great inspiration spot for me.
"So, where's the Agreste boy?" Alya asked, taking a sip from her coffee.
"Taken away by his fans. They literally came, like, 10 seconds after we left the room." I said.
"Wait, Adrien is your roommate?" Nino asked. He was very suprise when I nodded.
"Did you know this?" He turned to Alya for support.
"Uh yeah? I figured it out as soon as she said she'd met him. I thought it was obvious. Sorry Nino." She gave an apologetic smile.
Before the conversation could continue, the very loud school bell rang, and we were all forced to say goodbye, as we took our ways to our classes. My first class was Designing. I wasn't too nervous about it, since I have been designing for quite a while now. I entered the lab, and saw other people already being in groups. I also spotted Madison amongst the crowd. I should have known she would be studying fashion too. I took a random seat next to a guy with a black hood, and a short girl with orange hair. The teacher walked in and we all shut up.
"Good morning class! Now I know it's the first day of school and you all wish you were back in your beds, but just bear with me! I'm just the same." She said, making the whole class chuckle.
"My name is Arianna Chapel, but please call me Ari! I never liked my surname!" She laughed.
I couldn't believe how cool this teacher was being. She was speaking casually, relating to us. She seemed like a great person and based on her style, a great teacher too.
"So if you're wondering what we're going to do today, here's your answer."
We waited to hear our first ever assignment, when a wide smirk formed on her face.
"I'd like to test your creativity! You have 30 minutes to find something around campus and create a piece based on it." She said.
Most of the class widened their eyes. Was she crazy? What kind of an assignment was that. Clearly, I wasn't the only one thinking that, since Madison stood up.
"I'm sorry miss, but what is the point in this? It'll take precious time out of our learning session." She said, with narrowed eyebrows.
"This is your learning session, miss Delcour. Now go, the clock is already ticking!" She smirked once again.
Just like the others, I ran out of the classroom, looking for anything that could be turned into something someone could wear.
I walked around for a while, looking at different objects, until I stepped in a puddle of many different spilled paints. I groaned, as my shoes had just gotten ruined. Then out of nowhere, a small butterfly flew over to the paint and got all messy. And that's when I got the idea. I sat down somewhere else, and began sketching. After 30 minutes, I returned to the classroom.
"Let's see what you came up with." Miss Aria said.
Each student showed their design to the rest of the class. I realised then just how talented the people in my class were.
"Next is Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
I got up, hoping that I wouldn't trip and fall over. I presented my design. It was a long sleeved shirt, with a spilled pain design that looked like a butterfly on the back of the shirt. The sides of the sleeves also had a few spilled paint designs. Ms. Aria smirked, and then smiled. It looked like she liked it, but I wasn't too sure.
Once the whole class had shown their designs, she got up to speak.
"You all did wonderfully today! But did you realise what you actually did? You worked with a deadline, beginning from zero, and in the end you made it to the top. Good job everyone." She said, leaving us staring at her, shocked.
"Class dismissed!"
