Alone Time
For some reason, Joey pulled into the park. We started walking around the place.
"I need to clear my mind for a few minutes ok."
"Ok."
"Got a load of crap on my mind."
I started following him into that trail in the woods of the park.
"Don't follow me! Stay right there until I come back."
I sat down on a bench and waited.
I understand he's mad at his so called friends. I hope he never takes it out on me. I did get kinda scared of him. It was cold outside. I forgot my jacket at the house and I didn't know that it was going to get cold outside.
After five long minutes of waiting, he finally came back. He noticed I was shivering. I stood up.
"I think I'm fine now."
He stared at me for a few seconds until he rolled his eyes, took his jacket off and gave it to me. I grinned.
"I'm sorry this happened."
"What? Your friends?"
"Yeah."
"Don't be, it's not your fault."
"Yeah it is, I'm the one that started hanging out with them in the first place. You know they're from the wrong side of the tracks and I joined them. If it weren't for me, I would've been a good kid in school."
"You were a sweet kid in middle school."
"I still am and I always will be."
"I know."
I gave him a hug and he gladly accepted it.
"Let's go home."
We drove away and headed home.
