1 - The Mysterious CEO

⚠️Trigger warning:

Strong Language
Drooling over the boss
Office potato

꧁•⊹٭🩷٭⊹•꧂

Have you ever worked for someone so attractive before?

Seeing them everyday makes it difficult to focus on your own work and you tell yourself to just go with the flow of things, and to not let yourself care too much about what might happen or what might become of you if you pursued your feelings for them?

No?

Okay, well you're living a pretty normal life. And I'm glad you are.

But I don't exactly envy you either...

Some things just creep up on you when the time is right.

Not that I'm complaining about it anything! If anything, I am happy that things took a turn at the office.

Because I was losing my mind working for an attractive boss, as the office potato.

I've been working in this office for the last five years. Every day was much the same.
Mundane meetings, check up on my boss to see he was alright and try my very best to avoid falling in love with him. Then if I had the chance, I'd make a cup of tea and relax, before zipping off to another annoying meeting.

And repeat.

I'm Ji-eun, by the way. And this is my recollection of my life as it took me by surprise.

꧁•⊹٭🩷٭⊹•꧂

It all started the day my colleague asked me those four annoying words...

"Isn't he just amazing?" Soo-Ah simpered, sighing out loud in her breathy, annoying voice.

"Uhm... who is?" I asked her, a little confused by her sudden question.

I'd been concentrating on the figures the CEO was discussing with us presently, while my colleague was distracted by her Instagram account.

"Mr. Min! Duh! Oh, my goodness Ji-eun, you need to look at how hot he is!" She inhaled sharply.

"Mr. Min? Our sixty five year old boss? He's dead Soo-Ah. You don't stand a chance." I clarified, looking at her poker faced. "Besides, I think you're being insensitive. His funeral was only yesterday."

"What? No! I meant Mr. Yoongi! Duh!" Soo-ah exclaimed, fawning over the new boss as he addressed the staff in a meeting.

It's his first meeting with everyone in the main branch, here in Seoul.

Meanwhile, Soo-Ah had been sneakily reading his interview on Koreaboo, or some stupid gossip website, when she discovered his Instagram profile and was now scrolling through it, drooling a little at pictures of our new boss as he posed for the camera in various coloured tailored suits.

"Ji-eun, you really need to step out of your boundaries a little. Prince Charming is right in front of you!" She gestured at Mr. Min, and I smirked at that.

He glanced up at that precise moment, a small smirk on his handsome face. His eyes locked with mine.

I blinked and looked away. Why did I feel so flustered when he looked at me?

He sat across from us, at the long table in the boardroom, his grey coat hanging neatly behind him. His crisp white shirt fitted him just right, the suspenders he wore today seemed to do something to some of the women here. It's like they became loopy.

But I also felt a blush spread across my face.

'Why? He's just Min Yoongi.' I sighed.

And he's our new boss. Soo-ah could be so delusional at times.

"Look at him!" She waved her smartphone in my face.

"Cut it out! I need to pay attention to this meeting! I'm taking notes!" I pushed her hand away and cleared my throat as Mr. Yoongi made eye contact with me once more.

Min Yoongi is the CEO of Xtreme Ltd.

He is a powerful, yet calm man. 'The epitome of nonchalance.'

The company became his after his father passed away last week, and since then, Mr. Yoongi has made big strides in the market which we served in. Which was remarkable, considering the man had taken over the company only a few days ago.

Xtreme Ltd specialised clothing and shoe brands, specifically the high-end fashion type.

We supplied most K-pop artists and even the J-pop and K-drama industries. Our brands were rapidly becoming famous - at an impressive rate.

But what was more impressive about us, was the fact that our CEO was labelled "South Korea's most eligible bachelor."

And word had it that he was currently looking to be wed before the end of the year!

Naturally, this had sent the women in the office in a frenzy.

꧁•⊹٭🩷٭⊹•꧂

In the five years that I have been working at Xtreme Ltd, not once have I ever bared witness to Mr. Yoongi engaging himself in any sort of pointless chatter or polite conversation with any of the female staff.

You see, before he had ascended to the role of CEO, Mr. Yoongi was just 'good old Yoongi of the finance department'.

He never used his father's name and he never fussed or complained about helping anyone that asked for assistance. Even if it were to carry a stack of files from one floor to the next.

Contrariwise, Yoongi seemed to have a sudden 'glow up'  about a month ago, choosing to style his hair differently, and opting for contact lenses instead of his usual geeky spectacles.

It made him a thousand times more attractive and even though he just focused on his work, he was completely oblivious to the hoards of women fawning over him after his little makeover.

I still remember the day. He'd walked in to the office and winked at me when we passed each other in the corridor.
The stream of butterflies I felt in my stomach were uncontrollable.

He'd effortlessly made my heartbeat speed up, while he nonchalantly walked of to his desk to crunch numbers on his laptop.

But that single moment changed things... Women in the office grew more hostile towards me. And at the same time, they concocted idiotic plans to catch his attention.

Some of them would 'accidentally' drop a stack of paperwork as he passed them on his way to his office in the mornings or on his way back from lunch.

Oblivious to their stunts, he'd stop to help them collect all of their falsely fallen paperwork and smile at them politely, saying: "Be careful not to get any paper cuts."

There were plenty more ridiculous incidents where the women of the office openly tried to win his affection, but had thankfully failed.

"Because Min Yoongi is so handsome! And it is always worth a try to grab a man like him..." I'd often hear them giggle in the ladies' room while I touched up my lipgloss at the mirror, or when I tried to check my emails on my phoned while riding in the lift.

Most of them thought nothing of openly giggling about him in front of me because I was probably the last person they'd ever have imagined Mr. Yoongi with.

He is handsome, dashing, one would even go as far as to say that he's charming - while I, on the other hand, looked like I belonged on a makeover show, despite working for a fashion house.

According to most of the staff, I had zero taste in clothing - or so people would say about me, based on what I heard of the little that was said behind my back.

I didn't dress like an idiot. But I also stuck to traditional formal wear - a pencil skirt and matching coat with stockings and a cute heels, in the typical corporate grey, black or navy blue.

I didn't use frilly, loud floral patterns and I certainly wouldn't use a fushia suit for the office... It's too loud.

'This is an office after all. Not a circus.' I huffed out after the third woman with blindingly bright neon clothing had passed me by in the office.

The outfits became more and more ridiculous since Yoongi became the CEO.

Yes he's handsome. But get a bloody grip, damnit.

Perhaps the word 'handsome' doesn't do Yoongi much justice.

However, leaving his good looks aside, the most astonishing thing to have ever had happened at the office, something that definitely silenced all the members of staff, was the moment Mr. Yoongi had summoned me to his new office, after the meeting later that day.

He'd just been assigned his father's position as head of the company.

What could he possibly want with me?

The office potato.

꧁•⊹٭🩷٭⊹•꧂

"Yes, Mr. Yoongi?" I asked him as politely as possible.

We were technically on a first-name basis as I was his only friend.

Though, no one really knew this. It wasn't something I wanted the others to know. Nor did Yoongi want anyone to find out.

So I wasn't too surprised that he'd summoned me to his office after the meeting. But it certainly caught unwanted attention from others.
He usually did call me to his office after a meeting to discuss a few pressing matters and review the meeting minutes.

You see, I was also, his newly assigned Personal Assistant.

Having already been the trusted PA to the previous CEO, Mr. Min Joon, I rose to the challenge when his son had taken over, never letting our 'friendship' get in the way of our professional roles. Yoongi insisted that I remain his PA. He needed everything 'as is, to take over from where his father had left off'.

Nevertheless, I approached his office now, and opened the door cautiously.

There wasn't any need for me to knock, since he'd called me in. He was expecting me.

Yoongi stood over his desk, both hands stretched out in front of him. He looked at the empty desk, lost in thought.

I couldn't help but notice how attractively he posed as he stared at the desk in deep thought.

I wonder what went through that sexy mind.

He heard my heels click across the metal lining at the threshold as I entered and raised his head up to look up at me.

"Ji-eun. Ah... Good. You got my memo. I was waiting for you." He looked up from whatever he was musing over, smiling when his eyes met mine, while straightening up swiftly from the desk he was leaning on.

He wore his coat once more and the overall look was enough to sway anyone over to his side.

I stood rooted to the spot.

I've seen him look this attractive before. And I've been around him more than anyone else here! But in this moment, standing here, there was a different sort of attraction charged in the air.

Oblivious to my attraction to him, he walked up to me and took my hand in his, looking me in the eyes once more, but this time, with great concern.

"Ji-eun, I have a huge favour to ask of you." He walked me over to an empty chair at his desk.

"Uh... sure? I'm always here to help you, Mr.Yoongi." I replied unsteadily, taking a seat to help gather my thoughts.

"Don't address me so formally Ji-eun." He breathed.
His adams apple bobbed in his throat attractivelybas he swallowed, he looked a little nervous for some reason.

He moved closer to me, his eyes darkening in colour.

I was nowhere near prepared to hear the words that he uttered next:

"Will you marry me?"
