I SAID I NEEDED SPACE~ CHAPTER 5:

INTRO:

"Hey baby," I say

"Hi handsome" she replies "The baby is asleep, can you get the girls started?" she asks

"Yep" I reply, and she heads up the stairs whilst I take Ava to the kitchen

"How was your day Ava baby," I ask

Grayson's P.O.V

I DROP MY PHONE onto the couch beside me, and I sigh placing my head in my hands

"No luck?" Louis asks beside me, I'm at his house, his 'wife' has gone out to run some errands so he is left with his kids, a 3-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter.

I have been crashing on their couch ever since that night, Louis and his wife have been kind to me, and I am lost without her. I know I hurt her so bad, and I can't do anything about it"

"Nope" I half-growl and watch his daughter Ayla run around

"I'm sure she will call back," he says "Ayla baby come here" he then says and she runs to him and jumps into his arms, he blows little raspberries on her belly and she giggles.

"No she won't, I've blown it Lou" I reply and my heart sinks watching Louis with Ayla, she reminds me of my little Lola.

"Just message her"

"And say what, she's been avoiding me for over a week, she won't pick up my calls, answer my texts, Billie won't talk to me, I miss her, I miss my girls," I say

"What do you want to do then," he says to me

"Nothing, this is my fault" I reply, and I pull out my phone, messaging her 'please, call me, I love you - gray'

"Give her time mate"

"I will, I'm just not sure how much I can wait," I say but we get interrupted by Sarah his wife, walking through their front door with Chinese food for lunch

"Honey- I'm home" she calls out chuckling and I am instantly reminded of how Avery would come home and greet me, Louis stands up to help her, and I grab Ayla

"I missed you," he says smiling

"Me too" she replies smiling kissing his cheek

...

"And what else did you do Saskia?" I ask my 3 year old who just woke up from a spontaneous nap, she took as soon as she got home from daycare

"I got to use the colouring book and I coloured inside the lines!" she exclaims

"Oh really, I am so proud of you," I say to her and I hear a car pull up in the driveway, Avery's home! I hear the car door open and I walk Saskia into the kitchen and I place her on her seat

"Mummy's home," I say to her and she perks up

"Yay, I missed her today," she says and I smile

"So did I Sass" I reply

"Honey I'm home!" a voice exclaims and I walk to the hallway, where Avery is holding the baby carrier, and Chinese food for dinner, Ava travelling slowly behind her. I scoop up Ava and grab the Chinese food from her grasp

"Hey baby," I say

"Hi handsome" she replies "The baby is asleep, can you get the girls started?" she asks

"Yep" I reply, and she heads up the stairs whilst I take Ava to the kitchen "How was your day Ava baby," I ask

"Good daddy, I did lots of things"

"What did you do?" I ask whilst dishing up dinner for the 2 girls.

Once I finish filling their plates I stand next to them watching them eat before I feel a pair of small arms wrap around my waste. I turn around and wrap Avery in my arms, placing my head on hers little butterflies erupting in the pit of my stomach

"I missed you today," I say

"I missed you too" she replies, and she leans up to kiss me

...

"Have you heard from her today?" Sarah softly asks me as I am helping her wash the dishes from lunch, Louis has taken the kids up to their rooms for nap time

"No, I haven't"I say sighing

"She'll come around" she offers me handing me a plate to dry

"I don't think so Sar" I reply back, and my phone buzzes in my back pocket, I place the plate down and dry my hands, pulling out my phone, and it's a message from Avery

"Who is it?" Sarah asks

"Avery" I reply and I swipe my phone to open the message, and it reads 3 small words that break my heart into even tinier pieces.

'I need space'

I show the phone to Sarah who makes a face that I don't recognise

"What" I say immediately

"Nothing, nothing... just give her some more time" she replies

"Yeah, that's what Louis said to do"

"What did Louis say to do?" he asks coming into the kitchen and I show him my phone

"Dude, just leave her be for a bit" he says

"I will" I reply "I can do that" I say

I finish helping them before I follow them into their living room. We watch a couple of movies before I realise it's been hours and I need to pick up the girls and drop them off with Avery, at Billie and Michaels house.

I stand up and dust off my jeans, Louis and Sarah looking back up at me

"Where are you going?" they ask

"I have to get the girls and drop them off with Avery" I say

"Oh ok, are you coming back?" Louis asks

"If it is okay?"

"Of course it is" Sarah replies and I smile, and wave heading out their front door, to my car parked on the road

I make the short drive to the girls daycare in less than 15 minutes. I unbuckle my belt and I head in, I quickly sign them out before I am allowed to grab them

"Daddy!" Saskia yells and she runs over to me

"Hey Sassy" I say to her and I pull her close to my chest "How was your day?" I ask and I wave to her teacher before leaving the room to Ava's room.

She's just waking up from a nap so she is very sleepy, cuddly and grumpy. So I silently carry her to the nursery to get 1 year old Lola, with Saskia babbling of course. 

The trip to get Lola is quick, which leaves me carrying Lola in one arm, Ava in the other, both of their bags slung over my shoulder, with Saskia walking beside me holding hers.

I manage to successfully get them in the car and to the Raydens residence, I let Saskia out of the car, and Ava who is much more happy runs out after her, and up the driveway. I grab their bags and Lola, and I walk to the front door. I knock twice and I am surprised when I see who is being it, It's Avery.

"Hey" I say softly and I notice her eyes are puffy with tear marks down her face

"Hey girls" she says ignoring me

"Are okay?" I ask

"Same time tomorrow?" she says looking down, the 2 older girls running in, Lola crawling behind them to Billie, who is shadowing behind the door

"Uh sure, are you sure-"

"Goodbye Grayson" she says and she shuts the door in my face, leaving my on the doorstep
