Chapter 8 (Part1)
Chapter 8
She stripped off her clothes and climbed into bed. Thanks to all the pills and beer she had that night it didn't take her long to fall into a deep sleep. Ryan sat in front of her bedroom door listening to her breathing slow as she fell into sleep. The events of that night playing over and over in his head. What was happening here? Two days ago they were best friends, and now she didn't want anything to do with him.
What had he done to her to hurt her so much? He thought about that night in the bar. She didn't even say one word to him that whole night. She would bring him a beer when his was empty, but would be gone before he could even thank her for it. That stupid girl in the bar kept trying to keep his attention when all he really wanted was to be watching Angel.
How did he miss her taking those pills? Why was she taking the pills anyways? He had never smelled them on her before. 'I should have to told that girl to go away tonight in the bar. I shouldn't have been nice to her to try not to hurt her feelings,' he thought. 'If she wasn't there then I could have kept a better eye on Angel, and maybe know what was going on.'
He heard the front door open when Tony and Jack walked in. They could see right away that their Alpha was upset.
"What's going on Ryan? Is everything alright" Tony asked with concern.
"No, its not. Something is wrong with Angel, and she just blew up at me." he pouted back.
"Did you guys get into an argument?" Tony asked.
"Yeah a huge one and I even called her a bitch. I'm so stupid why would I do that?" The other two guys took a step back when they heard that, a shocked look on their faces.
"Well I'm sure she will forgive you man. Maybe she just needs to sleep it off. You should go buy her something tomorrow to show her that you're sorry. Girls always like to get gifts and flowers when they are mad at you for something." Jack said with a hopeful smile on his face.
"Yeah I don't know if that's going to work this time. I think I really screwed things up, but I guess it's worth a try." Ryan said as he got up and headed for his room.
Ryan laid in bed that night going over all the things that had happened over the last two days. So much had changed between the two of them. Two days ago he would have thought that they were on their way to having a good relationship, and soon she would have enough trust in him that he could explain everything to her. Explain to her that she's a werewolf, and help her to accept her other half that she has somehow kept locked inside of herself.
Now it was like they were on two different sides of the planet. She didn't want anything to do with him. She was so angry at him and he just couldn't figure out why. Why had she been ignoring him that whole day? Why was she taking those pills? Why did she explode like she did tonight, with full force anger at him? He just couldn't place all the things that were happening.
'I will go into town tomorrow and buy her flowers and a nice gift,' he thought to himself. 'Then we will have a long talk so that we can get to the bottom of why we are even fighting in the first place.' With that last thought he fell asleep.
Angel woke up with a pounding headache the next morning. As she lay in bed listing to the birds outside her window, she started to think about the night before. What had happened last night? Her memories of the night were blurry. She remembered being angry but couldn't figure out why. She took a shower to try and clear her foggy head. As she was brushing through her hair she noticed that her pupils were huge. 'The pills,' she thought to herself. 'I had taken a lot of pills last night; they must still be in my system.'
Then memories started to come back to her. She had a fight with Ryan, she remembered. It was a big fight, but what was it about. She knew that she had a reason to be angry, but just couldn't put her finger on why that was. Maybe if she got some food in her then she could think more clearly. She headed out of the room and into the kitchen.
Ryan, Tony, and Jack were just clearing their plates when she got into the kitchen. She did her best not to make eye contact with Ryan. She knew she was suppose to be mad at him, but still didn't know why.
"There's some breakfast left over in the fridge for you if you want it. We are going to get some work done on the house." Jack said with a smile as he placed the plates in the sink and headed for the door.
As she turned to get the food out of the fridge she noticed that Ryan was still in the room. It was like he was trying to decide to himself if he should say something, or just walk out with the other guys. She pulled the plate of food out of the fridge and walked it over to the microwave. As she reached up to place the plate in the microwave she could see something moving towards her. She quickly closed the door and punched in the time and hit start. Ryan stopped, then turned and headed out the door.
He was going to try and talk to her, but it was obvious to him by her actions that she was trying to avoid him. He just wanted to tell her that he was sorry for whatever it was that he had done, and he wanted to try to talk it out. When he had went to approach her in the kitchen something told him that it wasn't really the best time to do that. 'I will just let her cool off for a while.' He thought to himself before he turned to leave.
As he was walking over to the farmhouse he thought about what he would do to try and make things right between them again. 'This would be so much easier if I knew what she was mad at me about in the first place,' he thought to himself. He decided that after they were done working on the house for the day he would go into town to get her the flowers and gift. When he got home later that night then they would have a talk. Maybe he would even make her dinner to show her how sorry he was.
Angel was relieved to see that Ryan had changed his mind about talking to her. She didn't know what she was going to say when he asked her why she was so mad at him, because at the time she couldn't remember. She sat at the kitchen table eating her breakfast when all of a sudden it all came back to her. She was mad at him for rejecting her, for pushing her away during their kiss. She was mad at him for not wanting her like she wanted him. She was mad at him for talking to that other girl in the bar last night. She wanted to know what was so special about that girl that he had no problem talking to her all night.
She soon realized that she was jealous of the other girl. What did that girl have to offer him that she didn't? 'I'm not ugly,' she though to herself. 'I have a nice enough body and I am a nice person. I'm not a bitch.' That thought stopped her short. 'Wait, maybe I am a bitch. I must be, he called me a bitch last night.' She found herself fighting back tears and decided she needed to go for a run before she let her thoughts overwhelm her.
She went for a run to clear her head and when she got back she felt exhausted. She laid down on the couch to relax and watch a little TV. She soon found herself dreaming, running through the woods with her dream wolf. She was expecting the wolf to stop and meet the other wolf like always, but this time the wolf just kept running.
She ran with the wolf for what seamed like hours. She found that she was getting tired, her legs were getting sore, and she couldn't run anymore. She came to a stop and yelled for the wolf to stop. The wolf stopped and looked over its shoulder at her then put its head down and took off again.
She wanted to chase after the wolf, but her body wouldn't allow it. She was just stuck where she was. She suddenly felt empty and hopeless. She felt sad and torn apart inside. Why did her wolf leave her like that stranded in the forest? She needed her wolf to come back. She needed to feel whole again. She was woke up when she heard the front door open and close.
She sat up on the sofa to see who it was. Tony and Jack walked into the living room and sat down on the other couch across from her. Both letting out huffs of exhaustion as they sat down.
"Long day of work guys?" she asked quietly.
"Yeah, I never want to see another hammer, nail, or screw again." Jack joked as he rubbed his sore arms.
Angel looked up at the clock, 4:00 holy crap she thought to herself. I have been sleeping way too much lately.
"Would you like me to make you guys some lunch?" she asked as she got up from the couch.
"That would be great, thanks Angel" Tony said with a huge smile obviously relieved that he didn't have to move for the next few minutes.
"Will it just be you two, or will Ryan be joining you?" She asked from the kitchen.
"Just us, Ryan had to run into the city to get some, umm, stuff I guess." Tony replied.
Angel fixed the guys some sandwiches and took them into them to eat, then headed for her bedroom.
'What was Ryan going into the city to get?' She wondered to herself. She could tell that Tony almost said something that he wasn't supposed to then caught himself at the last minute. What is it that he could be hiding from her? 'Was Ryan going to see that girl from the bar last night?' she thought to herself. She felt a sudden rush of anger build up in her again.
Well fine, if he is going to go out with other girls then she was going to find a man for herself. A man that wanted her, not one that was going to push her away when she kissed them. She took another shower, did her hair, and put on some makeup. She slipped on a low cut halter top, and a mini skirt. Then she laced up her new tie stilettos she had bought last summer but never had anywhere to where them. 'I will put these to good use tonight,' she thought to herself as she finished tying the lace up her leg.
