Chapter 4
Chapter 4
'Happy birthday to me!' she thought. The three men that were standing next to the truck talking were the most impressive things she has ever seen. The youngest looking one was blonde with green eyes, and you could see through his tight shirt that he must work out a lot. The next guy had a sandy blonde colored hair and his eyes looked to be brown, she couldn't be sure since she only got a quick glimpse before he turned to talk to the last man. The last man was taller than the others; he looked as he would be the oldest of the three. He had dark black hair and blue eyes. Not the sky blue like her eyes, these were like a dark sapphire blue something that she had never seen before.
She could see every muscle of his arms and chest through his tight shirt. She found herself gawking at the man and had to make herself turn away and close her mouth that was obviously hanging open in surprise. Don't get yourself all worked up, it's probably just the moving guys. The people who move in are probably going to be an old grumpy couple that never wants company she told herself. At the same time she couldn't stop wishing that she was wrong and that these men were going to be her new next door neighbors.
"I don't think that's the moving guys" the voice inside her said. She could almost feel the voice jumping up and down in excitement.
"Would you stop that you're making me nervous", she said back to the voice.
"Sorry, I just can't help it. They look amazing!" the voice stated back.
"Yeah I know", she agreed.
She looked at the clock and it was almost 8:00; time for her morning run. Well what a better excuse to go outside and find out if these are my new gorgeous neighbors, or just the moving guys. She quickly pulled her hair into a loose ponytail, put on her running jacket, and headed for the door. Should I just walk up to them and say hi, or should I act like I don't even notice them there and see if they say hi to me first, she wondered to herself as she grabbed the doorknob.
"Just go out there and if they don't notice you right away then just walk up on your way to the trail." the voice inside her head stated.
"Good idea" she thought.
"I have a good feeling about this" the voice spoke again.
"Ok, just shut up so that you don't make me lose my nerve or train of thought," she shouted back at the voice.
She turned the knob and walked out onto the porch. She paused on the porch to bask in the sun rays that hit her face. A few moments later she began to walk to the side of the house. As she rounded the house she noticed the two men turned in her direction. Where did the tall one go, she wondered to herself? The men stopped and stared at her for a moment before doing anything. They then smiled and waved. She felt her heart rate pick up a little bit. Why are you so nervous, she thought to herself?
"Hey there" the young blonde man said.
"Hello" Angel replied.
She noticed that the men started to walk in her direction and thought it would be right if she met them half way. As she started to walk towards the men the wind blew in her face and she picked up their scents. They had a woodsy scent, mixed with a little sweat, and something else that she couldn't place. She thought that it reminded her of something like an animal scent.
That's different; I have never smelled men like this before she thought to herself. When they were about six feet apart from each other the wind shifted and blew on her back. Immediately she noticed that both men froze in place then looked at each other. Do I smell bad or something, she wondered to herself as she tried to catch her own scent. The men then looked back at her but did not move. She didn't know why but for some reason she felt a little frightened. She shrugged it off and thought to herself that it must just be her nerves. She took a few more steps forward to try and close the gap.
"Hi my name is Angel, are you moving in here?" she asked with a smile. The two men were silent for a moment and then seamed to relax a little.
"I'm Jack" the blonde one said, "and this is Tony" he pointed to the sandy haired man. "Yeah, we just bought the place, this is our first day in town" he continued.
"It's a nice area. I moved here three years ago and I love it. All the people in town are very friendly too" Angel stated.
'Shut up, your rambling' the voice inside her shouted.
"Where is the rest of your pack?" Jack asked.
"My what?" Angel replied with a questioning look.
Tony smacked Jack on the arm and spoke next "he means your family; please excuse him he doesn't know his manners".
"I don't have any family here, well anywhere really" Angel frowned as she spoke the words.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to intrude" Tony quickly stated looking a little embarrassed.
"It's ok, you really had no way of knowing" Angel replied as she tried to place a fake smile on her face.
There was a few minutes of silence and Angel was about to bid farewells to go on her run when she heard the front door of the farm house open.
She stared at the man as he walked out of the house. Although her eye sight is extraordinary she didn't know what she was missing from afar. She could now see every muscle in the mans body and the veins the flowed over each of them. She could see his hard jaw line and perfectly set lips. The way his pants hugged his legs muscles and butt. She looked back up to his face to see that his sapphire eyes were locked on hers. She found herself looking down and her face was hot. 'What is going on, am I blushing?' she asked herself. She had never blushed before; then again she had never found herself in the presence of a man like this before either.
Jack quickly ran up the steps of the house and whispered something in the mans ear. Why is he whispering, she wondered to herself? Jack and the man whose name she did not know yet came down the stairs and walked over to her. The man came and stood right in front of her and held out his hand.
"Hello Angel, my name is Ryan".
She stood there shocked for a moment before she realized he still had his hand out.
She reached out and shook it. "It's nice to meet you" she replied.
Ryan took in her scent and felt a shiver run down his arm when she grabbed his hand. He could feel his wolf inside of him wanting to get closer to the girl. 'Settle down wolf' he told himself.
When her hand touched his, it sent a shiver down her arm and she quickly pulled it back. She looked up to his face and his eyes were locked on hers again. She felt like someone started a fire next to her as her whole body became hot. She was stunned. She was speechless. She didn't know what to do with herself. "What are you doing? Don't just stand there like an idiot" the voice inside her shouted.
"I umm, I have to go. I'm late for my run" Angel blurted out and she turned and started to run down the path.
"I meant say something, not run away, you coward" the voice inside of her teased. "I didn't know what to do I was froze, and you weren't helping so shut up" she shouted back. She reached the wood line and let her mind take over as she ran. When she ran, she could let her mind be free and think of nothing other than the forest that surrounded her. That's exactly what she needed at the time.
"She's a 'were' but it was almost like she didn't know that we are too!" Jack said when he saw that Angel was clear of the tree line and knew she couldn't hear. "She said that she lives here alone. That she doesn't have a pack", he paused. "Actually, when I said pack she looked at me like she had no idea what I was talking about. Tony corrected me and said family and she said she doesn't have one" he continued.
"How could that be Ryan? Do you think she's a rogue wolf?" Tony asked. "Or do you think there's a way that she doesn't even know she's a 'were'?" he continued in a puzzled tone.
"I don't see any way that she couldn't know by now, she has to be at lease 20. She would have started changing at 15 or 16. Yet at the same time she acted like we were just like every other person she'd ever met. She didn't feel threatened at all" Ryan stated.
"Well maybe she acted like that towards us, but with you she looked terrified" Jack teased. Ryan let out a quick low growl. "Ok, ok you don't have to go all Alpha on my Ryan, I'm just teasing."
The three men stood there looking out at the woods all wondering if there was any way that she could not know she was a werewolf. On the trip to their new homestead they were all so excited. Ryan had found it too hard to live in his old pack when he knew he was born to be an alpha and had decided to go out on his own to start a new pack. When Jack and Tony heard what he was doing they were more than willing to head out with him. The pack they had back home was getting too crowded and there were no females that they were interested in mating. The option of starting a new pack with Ryan as the alpha was like dangling money in front of them. They wouldn't turn it down.
Jack was always kind of shy, and had many interests. He had tried his hand in photography for a few years, but found he soon lost interest in it. Now he was more interested in construction. He enjoyed working with his hands, and found he was talented at building, and drawing out blue prints. He was an only child, and spent most of his childhood hanging out with his two older friends Tony and Ryan.
Tony was an outgoing person, who could talk to anyone he met. He was the youngest of his siblings, and was always getting himself in trouble. He had two older sisters and had spent most of his life hanging out with Jack, and Ryan. He found that he could do almost anything he set his mind to on a computer, and had a job setting up security systems for his old pack.
They found the property in Montana the day that it was listed and bought it sight unseen. There was 40 acres of land and most of it was untouched forest. What more could they ask for? Little did they know that there was already a she wolf living next door. Possibly a she wolf that didn't even know that she was a wolf. Ryan decided it was time that they explore the house to see what they have gotten themselves into with this place. He had already seen the living room from when he carried in the cooler they had brought, but that was all he saw before he caught scent of the girl outside.
The men walked into the house together and were all shocked by what they saw. The walls were all cracked and crumbling, there were large holes throughout the flooring. There were doors falling of hinges and glass scattered around from broken windows.
"What the hell did you get us into Ryan? This place is a shit hole" Tony stated. As a beta, Tony felt it was his duty to let the alpha know that this house he chose was probably not in the best interest of the pack.
"Shut up Tony, you were just as excited to find this place as I was, and willing to put the time and money into fixing it up." Ryan responded.
"Yeah, that's true. We should have just came and looked at it first before jumping the gun I guess. Hey, do you think the water works? I could really use a shower" Tony replied.
"Guess you'll have to try it, to find out" Ryan said as he started laughing.
Tony walked over to what was suppose to be a bathroom and turned on the rusty faucet. There were loud banging and clanking noises, some type of whistle noise, then a crash sound but no water came out.
"Well I guess not," Tony thought to himself.
Ryan was 24 years old and had been a beta in his old pack for the last 4 years. He was content with that life, but he knew that he was born to be a leader not a follower. He had grown up in that pack and Jack, and Tony had grown up with him. Although they were younger, Jack at 21 and Tony at 22, they still hung out with each other since they were just pups. Ryan knew that he couldn't live under someone else's control for much longer and decided that it was time for him to go out and make a pack of his own. He knew that it wouldn't be easy, but it was something that he needed to do.
He announced to his pack that he was leaving a few weeks ago. Automatically, Jack and Bryan were hounding him wanting to go with him. At first, he had no intention on taking them with him on his adventure, but the more he though about it the better the
idea sounded to him. He knew that he would need more wolfs in his pack. He was a strong leader, but with no one to lead was there really any point? He agreed to allow the two younger wolfs to join him on his journey and Tony automatically became his new beta.
It was just luck that he found the listing of this farm house a few days later, and jumped at the chance to get the land. Jack and Tony agreed that it was a great idea and were excited to start their new journey together. On the way down here, they were all talking about how they would get more wolfs to join the pack. They all had a few ideas and planned to put them into effect once they were settled in. They all joked about what the house they had bought would look like. The listing stated that it had been vacant for a few decades, so they knew that it would be in bad shape. They just hadn't imagined how bad of shape it would be in. It was clear to them now.
Angel heard the noises coming from the farm house as she returned from her run. She decided she better go make sure that everything was ok. It sounded bad whatever it was. Before she got to the steps, the three men were exiting the house. They all froze in place when they saw her. 'Why do they keep doing that,' she wondered, 'it's freaking me out.'
"Hi Angel, it's nice to see you again" Ryan said as he smiled.
Angel noticed her heart rate picked up a little when she looked at him and started to respond. "It's nice to see you again too. I just came over to make sure everything was okay. I heard a lot of noises when I returned from my run, and wanted to make sure no one was hurt".
"Thank you for checking. We're fine. That was us trying to turn on the water. It made a lot of noise, but no water" Ryan stated as he frowned with disappointment.
