Clint's Kitchen Makeover

All the Avengers, Earth's Mightiest Heroes, were gathered in Clint's kitchen and living room.

Somehow, (with some convincing on Wanda's part) they had been talked into helping out with the work that desperately needed to be done, namely redecorating the kitchen.

They hadn't started yet; in fact, they were still trying to decide between wallpaper and paint.

Tony was playing darts against Pepper. Pepper was winning, but only because Clint was too busy making snacks in the kitchen to interfere. Loki sat with his back against the table, watching the various bickering Midgardians with amusement. The only ones that hadn't arrived yet were Steve and Bucky, but at that moment the doorbell rang.

"It's open!" Clint hollered down the passage, and Steve and Bucky entered.

They were greeted by everyone, and Steve leaned his shield against Mjölnir in the passage.

"So what's the plan?" He asked, and Tony immediately stopped darting.

"We cover all the walls in red wallpaper."

"Why red?" Steve frowned, "that seems like an odd colour for a kitchen."

"Because I say so."

"Oh, so it's Mr-Billionaire-gets-to-choose day?"

"Yes, and I say red wallpaper."

"Tony..." Pepper began cautiously, but Stark ignored her.

"How about blue instead?" Steve suggested.

"No, we're doing red."

"BLUE WALLPAPER!"

"RED WALLPAPER!"

"How about green wallpaper?" Bruce suggested, "no wait, nevermind."

"I personally vote yellow with tiny hammers on it," Thor suggested.

"I DID NOT SAY THAT!" Thor claimed, searching for Mjölnir, who was hidden from his sight by Cap's shield. Bruce noticed that Loki had a particularly mischievious grin on his face, but before he had the chace to say a word Loki spoke up.

"No brother, I agree with Banner. Green is much better, especially with a couple of dashes of gold."

"Oh please," Clint rolled his eyes, "why don't we do patterns of arrows and birds while we're at it?"

"Just stick with black," Natasha advised, "it's much easier."

"If you want to be fancy you can go with silver with red stars or something," Bucky suggested.

"RED WALLPAPER!"

"If we're going for fancy why don't we just make it black with red octopi?" Clint suggested, and Pietro reacted instantly.

"NEVER! But you could try combining blue and red, if that solves your... arguement."

"That makes purple, brother," Wanda pointed out.

"That is not what I meant, Wanda."

"Can you all just calm down?" Nick Fury requested, "Just paint it white like any sane person and that's FINAL!"

"Who made you director, Fury?" Tony snapped.

"Actually, Sir, Director Fury is the director, although not of this household, and it is debateable whether..."

"Shut up Vision."

"That was JARVIS, Stark."

"Well shut up both of you."

"So it's red and blue?"

"DON'T GET INVOLVED IN THIS PARKER!"

"Okay okay, geez Fury, keep a lid on it."

"I still think green and gold," Loki stated, "but I won't get involved in your Midgardian squabbles."

"You just did," Tony pointed out, rolling his eyes.

"Can we not make it green?" Bruce piped up, "I think I'd prefer to avoid that one if possible."

"Of course Bruce," Tony reassured him, "green is horrible to look at anyway."

"Thanks Tony, you're— HEY!!!"

"How about orange? Nobody's suggested orange yet..." Pepper joined in.

"All the more reason not to mention it," Stark muttered.

"I'm with Clint," Sam Wilson spoke up, "birds all the way."

"Sam?" Tony exclaimed, "who invited him?"

"I did, actually," Clint replied.

"And who gave you permission to invite people, Clint?"

"Uhhhmm... It's my house, so... me?"

"Well, technically I could BUY your house from SHIELD so shut up."

"Actually, technically SHIELD wouldn't sell this place to someone as irresponsible as you."

"Ow," Natasha hissed, "BURNNNNN!"

"I guess I'll just have to buy all of SHIELD then," Tony went on.

"Ahum, have you forgotten that I'm here too?" Fury asked, and Tony glanced at the ceiling.

"Oh, we might need to paint that too," he pointed upwards, quickly changing the subject.

"Oh and by the way Sam, that about the birds was actually sarcastic," Clint pointed out.

"And here I thought I was the sarcastic one," Tony grumbled.

"CLINT!" Laura's voice echoed down the hallways, "there's someone at the door!"

"COMING DEAR!" Clint yelled back, before turning back to Tony.

"As you can see, this is my house and I have an actual family, not just as assistant who happens to be in love with you madly by the way. Also, I own a doorbell, which whoever is at the door isn't using. Or it's broken, I'll have to take a look at that."

"What?" Tony frowned, then scowled, "Just... Just... Go away."

Grinning, Clint walked to the front door, returning with the Fantastic Four, Johnny in the lead.

"You know what, I'm with Pepper," Johnny Storm announced.

He put his arm over Pepper's shoulder, and she backed away slowly as he continued.

"Orange all the way. And you know what, let me make some friends and throw in yellow and red too."

Tony grinned triumphantly, and Pietro frowned as he tried to remember who wanted yellow. Johnny, now that Pepper had moved aside, was leaning on the table.

"Johnny, don't touch that. I like my tablecloths un-burnt thank you," Clint commented.

"Or how about dark blue? With a big 4 on it?" Johnny threw in, clearly aware of their entire earlier conversation. The mere mention of blue triggered a grin on Steve's face, and Bucky facepalmed with his metal hand.

"Johnny, this is not open for discussion," Susan rolled her eyes, "I'm pretty sure they've already decided. So what have you picked?"

An awkward silence reigned in the kitchen and living room, during which they all heard a loud crash from upstairs. With a sigh, Clint walked back to the stairs.

"See Sue? Orange it is."

"As long as it's not green..."

"I still like blue and red."

"That's Superman's colours, Parker."

"And mine. And the Maximoffs'."

"Okay," Bruce decided, "That's it, I'm leaving."

"Wait Bruce, where you going?" Tony asked.

Bruce muttered something about 'someplace less stressfull', and Tony started to block him from leaving.

"No Bruce, stay! SCIENCE BROS HAVE TO BACK EACH OTHER UP RIGHT!? Bruce, are you alright? You look a little green."

"I'm perfectly fine Tony, thanks for asking. Bye!"

With that he dashed past Tony, and squeezed through the back door.

Clint returned just in time to see him leave.

"Natasha..."

"I'm on my way," Natasha sighed, moving to the back door as well.

"Before he wipes this farm from existance, please," Clint muttered.

There was an awkward silence in the room, in which Nick Fury decided to leave for his own safety.

"So... Red?" Tony suggested.

IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING...

They ended up letting Laura and the kids pick the colour, after several suggestions (including vintage blue-white-red from Coulson and tesseract-blue from an unknown person) and the arguements that followed got out of hand.

*Cough cough*

Anyway, they picked orange. And for the rest of the day, everyone had to bear Johnny's smug grin. And Pepper's pleased smile, but she was a lot easier to bear than the Human Torch.
