A few days past, and before I knew it, it was the end of the week. Which means dad and I were finally leaving. I spent those few days playing with the kids, we played so many fun games that made me forget about that day. That day was intense, I mean first I wake up to this crazy weird dream, talked to Grangran then dad, went to the market, bumped into Lee, brought Lee to the station, and talked with dad about mom. As I have mentioned before I'm just a simple person, trying to live a simple life.
Dad and I never had that 'conversation' it just never happened. I tried to bring it up, but dad would just shut me out, like he always does.

I was packing my small bag when I heard a knock at my door. "Come in" I welcomed. Grangran pushed the door open as she walked in and settled on my bed, next to me.

"Kai" She breathed.

"Yes grangran"

We sat in silence for a couple of minutes before she finally spoke again.

"You're a special kid you know" Grangran said to me. I gave her the 'you sure?' look.

"No, I'm not just saying this because I'm your grandmother, I'm saying this because it's true" Grangran reassured me, but I wasnt so sure.

"Thanks Grangran"

"You have a great responsibility to the world. A big role to play, one that will test your morals and strength. One day you will be torn between good and evil, but if their is good in you, the light will shine out in the dark"

I nodded not quite understanding what she was saying. I guess 'I will understand when I'm older' as grown ups like to put it.

"If you ever need any help with anything, I'm just a train ride away" She hugged me, as I hugged her back.

"I'm gonna miss you" I murmured into her back.

"Me too sweetie, me too"

The train back, with dad was just plain boring. I started counting how many flying air ships flew by due to the boredom. And I noticed something, there were much more ships then usual, and thats not the weird thing, the weird thing was they were all headed in one direction, our Town. Must be some government issue, other than that, than I don't know.

When the train stopped we quietly picked up our bags and walked out. The ride back home, was even more boring. Sometimes I wish I could just live with Grangran. As soon as we arrived at home, I ran up to my room and guess what I did? You guessed It, I fell asleep. What? Don't give me that look, it's my nature. I'm like a ever hibernating bear.

I felt a cold, breeze hit me as I slept. Then the wind became faster and faster. Untill I heard a loud bang. My eyes flew open at the sight of my window, flying open, with a powerful force. There stood at the foot of my bed, was a young girl, with a blue arrow tattoo on her forehead. Anger flashed in her eyes just from the sight of me. This girl right here is Nico, Jin's younger sister. Yes Their mom's an Airbender, and their dad is a waterbender.

"Kaira! " She chided at me. Oh I wonder what I did now?

"Yes? " I answered in a small voice.

"Your dog is crazy! "

"The last time I checked I didn't have a dog"

"Dumpling!, whatever creature she is" Ohh, that makes sense.

"Yeah, my dumpling, what's she been up to?" I asked, lazily.

"Oh I dont know destroying the towns water system! " Shoot, i was afraid this was gonna happen. I shot out of my bed as fast as I could.

She flew out my window on her glider. as I jumped out after her. I ran down the street while she flew high up in the sky. I ran into people, gaining me some complaining and scolding. We were headed to the water station where all the water was controlled and what not.

"Hey this isn't fair, your an Airbender" I yelled up to the flying Nico.

"Sucks to be you! " She yelled back.

I ran and ran untill we reached the station. This place was not in the best condition, scratch that it was crazy. A rampaging earthbending mole tiger could definitely be able to do this.

The fence to the station was busted open, in the shape of a big rounded dumpling. The place was flooded, by water and people. Sparks flew from the circuits, causing a few gasps to arise. Metal benders tried bending the pipes and containers holding the water back but the water was too much. It rushed out pulling people along. They tried their best but they couldn't do anything more than that. The main tap, must've broke.

Luckily Some of the few water benders of our town including jin, helped. I ran to his side immediately, he noticed me beside him and grinned. I returned it whole heartedly. We froze the water together, allowing the metal benders to come back and bend a better barrier. More water rushed out but we pushed it back with all our might. It took a while but we eventually plugged up the problems.

The place started to clear up, as more and more people left the scene. Jin and I plus some of the other benders stayed back to finish up other little problems.

"When did you get back? " Jin asked as he gently bent the access water into big containers.

I grinned a guilty grin, as I bent the access water into the containers too "This morning"

"Wow, and you didn't bother to check on me, your best friend" He narrowed his eyes and tsked.

"Some best friend you are, you couldn't even look after my mole- tiger for a week"

"But she's huge, and half of the time she doesn't even listen to me—stop trying to change the subject"

I ignored the last part and continued, "have you been feeding my baby? "

"Of course I have, she practically eats everything I give her"

"Everything?!, like what?!"

"Anything edible?"

I slapped my face hard, realizing what actually happened,"No wonder this happened, you gave her cactuses didn't you? "

"Yeah, maybe, why? "

"Don't you know they make you cookoo, like cookoo bird cookoo, but more! "

He put one finger up to object but nothing came out of his mouth.

"Where is she? " I asked.

"Back at home, asleep"
I Sighed, as long as she's safe.

After cleaning out all the gunk and talking to a few police officers who arrived at the scene to survey the damage Jin and I walked home together. Nico, decided to leave earlier, because she was bored and she said to me and I quote 'you are a nuisance to my life' which is kinda sad, but I know she loves me, deep deep deep down inside.

Jin and I went our seperate ways when we arrived at the street intersection. We decided it best of we get cleaned up first. There wasn't just dirt in the water, all sorts of trash and mud got mixed up in the towns water and you can guess how that went.

I arrived at home, and to my surprise I saw several auto-mobiles other wise known as cars parked in front of our house. Dad probably has friends over. Right?

I stood out on the street contemplating my next move. Maybe they're not in the living room... Probably. But I really need to wash. Should I or should I not.

And that's what I did, I walked in. I'll just you know, excuse myself, yeah I'll do that. I opened the door, and several pairs of eyes connected with mine. There were a bunch of strange looking men sitting in our living room. Old men. Fancy looking old men.

I bowed at them, "excuse me" I was about to walk away, but a certain voice stopped me. Lee.

"Wait" I heard him say, I turned and there he stood among the bunch of old men. The look on my face was probably confusion.

"Lee" I drawled looking around the room, "Where's dad? " I asked Lee, noting dads absence.

"He went out to look for you"

"Why was he looking for me? "

As if on cue, the door opened and dad walked in. "Kai"

"Dad, why were you looking for me? " Why would he, I mean, I could've gone to Jin's place. He never taught to look for me all those other times.

"Kai, have a sit we need to talk" He ordered, but behind that I coud see the fear in his eyes. I sat obediently on the floor, next to one of the old men. The group of old men had been quiet this whole time, watching my every move.

"These men are here to announce the identity of the new avatar" Dad said bluntly.

"Okay?, what does that have to do with me or you?" I asked bored. Being forced to sit with old people and talk about ancient stuff was not fun.

"Beacase Ms Kaira, you are the avatar" One of the old men answered.
