(Third POV)
Mako and Lee were in republic city, at the police station to be exact. Discussing the problem at hand, the spirit portal. It had been closed, and the spirits were angry.

"We need the avatar! " The police chief, Opa raged slamming his fist onto the table.

"I told you, she's not ready! " Makos voice had rose for the first time since he got here. He was tired of this, not knowing what to do, people complaining, it was getting to him.

"Well what do you expect us to do? " Opa sneered.

"Calm down" Mako said, keeping his voice low.

Opa let's out a deep breath and calms down a bit, "this is frustrating"

"What happened? " Lee asked, finally speaking for the first time. They sat at a table in a dark room with a few other officers.

"A few nights ago, there were a thousands calls coming in at once, people were calling, the sky was a light blue, despite being night. Suddenly the blue left and everything was dark , the portal was closed. And the spirits ran loose" Chief Eris explained.

"The people have been rebelling against the spirits too. The spirits possess and they fight back" Opa breathed.

"I know who we should visit" Mako said knowingly.

(Kaira POV)

"Grangran when did you guys find out?" I questioned as we sat in the living room. I sat cross legged as grangran sat opposite of me.

"That you were the avatar? " I nodded. "Well you could already earth bend before your mother passed. After your memories were wiped you started waterbending I think that was when we knew"

"You were ok with me getting my memory erased? " I almost croaked.

"No. Not exactly, your father had already earsed your memories before you guys moved here. But I saw how he struggled, the pain of loosing the love of his life, the pain of not knowing what happened.. "

I knew I had the right to burst out in anger. I wanted to scream, I wanted to tell them off. That my emotions and memories were not things you could play with. But I didn't.

"I don't buy the story the white lotus told me, they said my results were hidden? "

"It's true, they were hidden. I don't exactly understand how, but the people sent out to do the testing were trusted people. More trusted then all of the white lotus" Her face creased in thought.

"How could they just loose their loyalty like that? "

"How could they change their mind in a second? "

"I think I know" My eyes went wide once I realized what had actually happened, "spirits..." Maybe Tovak didn't mean to hurt her.

"I've heard, the government is disguising the outbreak as a disease. Kaira you're the avatar you should be able to stop this" Her hand stretches out to mine.

"But I don't even know what this is.. "

"You're the avatar, you will know. Maybe meditating on it will help" She smiled sweetly and got up.

I nod and close my eyes. Guess what? I fell asleep. I'm a terrible avatar.

Knocking at the door would wake me up, I get up groggyily and walk to the door, opening it to reveal my best friend Jin. I forced the tears back as Jin pulled me into a hug.

"Hey you ok? " He asked, his voice full of concern.

"Yeah, it's good to see you" I smiled and punched his shoulder.

"Hehe I kinda brought everyone.. " He moves out of the way and behind him were Chiyo, and Nico with dumpling.

"Yo Kai, I brought your greasy cat-mole?" Nico said, grinning. I couldn't not grin back when someone grinned at me. I walk over to her and gave her a great big hug.

"Chiyo! " I turned to chiyo then attacked her with another big hug. And last but not least my baby dumpling, "I missed you" I murmured into her fur.

"What are you guys doing here? " I asked after all the hugging.

"I heard Tovak got possessed, and things got out of hand" Chiyo explained.

"Where else would you go but here? " Jin smirked.

"Oh my look how you've all grown" I hear grangran exclaim from behind me. I turn and see her standing at the door a tear in her eye. She was blind but she could tell the difference in our weights.

"Grandma Ryu! " Jin said happily walking over to hug her.

"Nico! Come here" She smiles at Nico. Nico smiles politely then walks towards her, she goes for a hand shake but grangran pulls her into a hug.

"We're a family of huggers" Grangran laughed.

"And how could I forget, Chiyo! " Chiyo ran to grangran for a big bear hug. I think I'm missing something..

"I took care of her dad here when he served. I pretty much raised him" Grangran explained. Hmm the white lotus is closer to my family then I knew, " You're all so skinny and-" Grangran looks at Jin, "unfit, kids these days are so immersed in there tv and music"

Grangran stomps her feet on the ground and a slab pops out as she punches at Chiyo, who avoids it effortlessly.

"Go drop your bags in the house, we're going to train! " Grangran announced.

We stood side by side on grangrans front lawn like soldiers would.

"Attention! " Grangran boomed, with hands behind her back. Sometimes I forget how scary she can get.

We put our hands straight on our sides and move our feet apart, simultaneously, " Now drop and give me a hundred! "

We dropped onto our hands and me being me didn't put my hands out before I hit the ground, face flat. I perched up on my hands and looked to my side, Chiyo effortlessly pushing up and down from the earth, Jin who took an eternity to move up then flat back onto his to stomach and Nico who made pushing up look as easy as lifting a feather.

I grimaced pushing up and down really fast. After I don't know, twenty maybe I gave up and layed flat on my stomach on the hot earth.

"Kaira! " Grangran yelled. I shrieked and got back to pushing up."Up! "

Jin and I groaned as we stood. Nico and Chiyo got to their feet in less than a second. Dumpling ran towards Jin out of nowhere trampling him and making him fall onto his back.

Grangran stomps her feet again and four big boulders popped out of the earth, " I want each one of you to carry these boulders to the dock and back" My jaw dropped open, so does Jin's who was recovered from being trampled, "10 times" If I said my jaw dropped to the ground would you belive me, "you are allowed to use bending" Well...

And off we went. Chiyo earth bent the boulder down the road. Nico pushed at it with air bending, she's actually a very good air bender. Jin and I stood in front of our boulders deep in thought.

"What are you waiting for you're an earth bender aren't you? " Jin asked. I rubbed my hairless chin and shrugged.

"Yeah but, how? " I push the boulder with my bare hands but it stays in place unmoving, "ok OK I got this! " I copy Chiyo, got in my stance, and pushed forward. And it moved! "Ah! "

Jin glared at me before going back to studying his boulder, like it was some sort of math problem. While he stood there staring I got closer to Chiyo and Nico who were already near the dock, careful not to push too hard or it'll let loose and hit everything. That was what was happening behind me, people ran and screamed. I turned to see a boulder hurdling right towards us, specifically Chiyo. She grabbed at the boulder like it was nothing before it crumbles to dust.

"I got that! " Jin yelled running towards us then stopping to realise the boulder was gone.

"You almost killed me... " Chiyo said nonchalantly, "it is only fair that I try to kill you too" And with that a slab shoots out diagnolly from the Earth and hits Jin causing him to fly backwards into a market stand of tomatoes. He gets back up and bends the tomato juice out of his clothes and hair and face and everything. He recovered then ran towards Chiyo with ice daggers in his hands.

"I didn't mean to! " He yelled. It sounded more angry than apologetic. Oh man. I turned to Nico who was sitting on an air ball, watching with a bored expression.

"Whats done is done! " Chiyo yelled, just as daggers flew towards her she bends a wall causing the daggers to stick to it.

"Guys... " I said quietly and confused.

Jin jumps over the wall and just as he was about to bring down a wave on Chiyo the clearing of the throat of a certain someone, causes the water to fall lifelessly as the wall too goes down causing Jin to fall on his butt. Let's rewind, we were on the road in front of the dock, in front of a crowd, in front of Grangran.

"What is going on? " Grangran demanded. I rubbed my chin and looked at the sky, Jin grinned as he sat on his butt, Chiyo with inflated cheeks looked around at the crowd. Nico was... Now sitting on a building. Wait what?

"No bending, back now! " She yelled. And that's how we broke our backs carrying boulders back and fort on our backs. Even dumpling, because she wasn't so obedient either, destroyed a whole vegetable stand, I think it was cabbages?

(Third POV) Air Temple Island

"Monk Jinora, we need your help. The city is in chaos. Spirts and humans are at war with each other what are supposed to do? " Opa asked, after a bow to the old women who sat out under her meditating house.

"What are you talking about? This isn't my job, it's the avatars" She smiled with her eyes closed. The other man stood  out on the training ground waiting for an update.

"But my lady she is not ready? " Opa exclaimed.

"Oh she is more than ready. She can save us, she will" She smiled again and turned around to look out onto the sea. Opa grinded his teeth together in rage. This was really getting to him, the whole avatar's not ready/ready fiasco. He stomped out to the men on the training ground.

"We need the avatar! " He demanded. The man looked at each other knowingly, but quietly. This was a mission they couldn't handle on their own.
