"Kai" A squeaky little voice said.

"Ah! " I was slightly shaken up by the voice.

"You ok? What happened last night? " Jin asked. How did I not notice Jin which was right before me
But that voice, that wasn't him, I shrugged it off and focused my attention on Jin.

"Well I– uh I found this guy and took him to the hospital. He looked dead. The doctor said he was possessed by a spirit. I don't know" The emotions drained from my face just thinking back to last night.

"That's.....I've heard of this, when spirits posses humans, the humans somehow gain features of that particular spirit " Jin's smile faded as he explained.

"But we don't see much of them around here. I mean most of them live near the portals. How did they end up here?"

"Avatar, I am here to pick you up" I heard Rik's voice form behind me. Jin and I who were sitting in the living floor turned to see him next to the door.

"Kai, you should get going" Dad said striding out of the kitchen. Jin and I do our little fist bump as I got up to follow Rik out the door.

"Morning Rik" I smiled at him, to which he smiled back happily.

"Morning Ms. Kai "

I got on the car to notice Lee's absence . Hmm wonder what happened?

"Where's Lee? " I asked Rik.

"From what I was told he was sent to take care of some business, by the white lotus"

"Cool" I shrugged and stared out the window.

"Morning" I smiled up at my Airbender teacher.

"Morning young avatar" Chin yang smiled happily at me his eyes creasing, "today we shall learn earthbending"

Huh?

"Don't you mean air bending? " I asked, scratching my head.

"That's what I said" He started laughing, for reasons unknown to me, "you're nothing like korra"

"You knew her? " My eyes widen in curiosity.

"Everyone knows her, shes the avatar" He laughs again, maniacally...Okay? "Lets bend some wind"

"Yes, wind bending" I cheered...oh wait.

"To be an airbender is to be a bird" He said as he flapped his arms around. Gusts of wind are blown out of his flapping arms, "try it" He says to me.

"Yes sir" I saluted slightly at him and start flapping my hands too. Nothing happens though.

"Ok no more flapping let's do some meditating, other wise known as sitting while you close your eyes" He dropped to the ground with a loud thud. I followed suit. We  basically closed our eyes and not even 5 minutes later he stops us.

"Meditating time is over let's move on"
He stands suddenly, causing me to scramble to my feet "now, follow me" This training is happening too fast.
He walks into the big house mansion thing. I follow after him, awing at how fancy and expensive looking everything looked. He walks up a flight of stairs then another. We get to a room with a ladder leading up to the roof. He motions for me to go first, and I do so. The view from up here was breathtaking. Amazing.
Chin Yang comes out and stands beside me.

"Young avatar watch this" He opens his staff that I assumed he got from the room, and jumps off the building, he disappears from sight a few seconds later before he comes back into view, soaring through the sky.

"Yeeeeee haa!" He screamed whilst airborne.

He twisted and turned in the air before landing safely on the roof next to me.

"Your turn! " He announced pushing the opened staff into my hands.

"Oh no I can't do that" I waved my hands in dismissal.

"Did you not do this before? " He perched a brow.

"I did but, but I fell"

"Did you broke any bones? "

"No but-"

"Any injuries or scrapes, something? "

"No, yes, no-" I put the staff over my head about to demonstrate how I flew last time.

"Then glide" He pushes me off the roof, literally. This man is crazy and I'm gonna die.

"Ahhhh! " I screamed falling to my death. The air around me was fast. Then it happened I tilted the staff up and up I went. I was flying, soaring, gliding. I was air bending. Until I got cocky and flew into a tree. But I did it! I airbent!

"ARE YOU OKAY?! " I heard chin yang yell from the roof.

I was hanging on to branch, but slipped and fell. My body hitting the hard earth.

"Crazy" I breathed to myself as I lay there.

"How did it feel to glide? " Chin yang asked sipping his tea.

"It was crazy and amazing! You know?!"
I marveled. Moving my hands up with emphasis, causing the tea cup in my hands to spill tea onto my legs, "hot! " I screeched, moving my hands over my legs bending the tea out.

"Have you not started fire bending? " Chin yang asked, looking confused.

"No" I mumbled.

"Do not worry young avatar, all the avatars had one element that they found difficulty in. It's usually the element most opposite to their personality. For korra it was air" Wow he says something that I actually understand.

"So fire is my opposite? "

"You don't see it but you are more of an earth bender then you think you are. You're more like a.... Pebble"

"A pebble? "

"Yes. You are earth, existing in water. Moving with the flow of the stream, small but strong"

"What does that have to do with fire bending? "

"You are are protected by water all the time. How will you ever feel the heat of fire? "

"Oh" Was all I said.

"But you are phenomenal Airbender little pebble"

"Thank you" I bowed my head to him in respect. We drank our teas in silence under the tree I fell from, for a few minutes before he speaks up again.

"What did you see last night?" He asked smiling as usual.

"It–" I paused for a bit, to release a breath"–was nothing like I've ever seen before. He had no self control. His body wasn't his own anymore"

"Most spirits are just like humans, they have emotions too. They have goals and ambitions. When avatar korra opened the spirit portals she opened them for good. And we now share our world with theirs"

"They wouldn't hurt us, right? "

"Spirits are affected by the energy given off by the environment, like us humans or a place. But you're the avatar, you should know"

"I thought the avatar stopped being the bridge between the worlds after korra opened the portals"

"We may live together as one world. But we are still divided. As the avatar you are spirit and human, you are our connection"

Beautiful music plays through the radio when I walk into the mansions kitchen, to drop off the tea pots and cups. There were a dozen or so ladies in the kitchen, cooking and washing the dishes. As I walked in they froze in their spots and watched me quietly. I smile at each one of them placing the pot and cups down. Just as I grabbed the sponge to wash the stuff m, gasps erupt in the kitchen.

"Oh no avatar that's our job" One of the ladies warned. All eyes watching my every move.

"No no, it's fine. I'm used to it"

"But..."

"I would feel bad if I let you wash these"

"As you wish avatar" She moves away and I wash the stuff.

"Chin yang teaches you? " An elderly women asked, coming to stand beside me.

"Yeah, he's a good teacher"

"Don't be worried if you don't understand what he says. Most of the time it has a special meaning behind it. Sometimes it's not, but I promise he's amazing" The lady smiled going back to doing what she was doing before.

I hum along as I leave, but something stops me in my tracks.

"We Inturupt this channel to bring breaking news, the earth kingdom military head would like to advice our citizens to stay in your homes after dark. This is due to an unrest in many towns caused by a spreading disease" The voice of a man reports over the radio.

I could feel the emotions drain from my face. What is this? What disease? My body was stiff, frozen in place.

"Little pebble" Chin Yangs voice breaks me out of my trance.

"Uh oh, sorry I uh-"

"Don't worry about it, come let's get back to training" He starts walking away as I quickly follow after him.

Disease?

I look out my bedroom window, at the small town I call my home. The sky was dark with the streets empty. Houses illuminated with light and fear. What could be so serious that the military head had to announce himself. The real questions was, is it actually a disease?

I can't just sit here and watch what happened last night happen again. I grabbed a scarf and tied it around face, masking my identity. I grab my bag and get ready to leave. As I was about to jump out the window my door creaks open to reveal dad leaning against wall staring at me intently.

"You think this is going to change anything?" He said, his eyes trained to the floor.

"I have to do something! " The words rushed out my mouth before I could stop myself.

"We don't even know what happened yesterday... And with this new 'disease', please kaira don't make rash decisions" He begged, eyes now on me.

"Exactly you saw what happened yesterday, how do you expect me to just sit back and watch as other people get hurt. I need to do something"

"I know you're the avatar and all but you're still my daughter. I already lost your mother please dont-" His voice cracks and that's it for me. What is he trying to do, guilt trip me?

"Fine, I'll stay" I huff and fall onto my bed, pulling my blanket up to my chin. He walks tierdly out the door, "I miss mom too, but she's been gone for so long" He stops in his tracks, "I wouldn't mind you dating again"

He turns to me slowly, with solemn look" Go to bed"
He turns off the light and leaves my room. I sit up and stare out my window again. I don't want anyone getting hurt like that again.
I couldn't sleep that night. My mind kept going back to the man and the disease.

I think I've been watching too much avatar,
I was sitting at the dinner table with my mom, and she was talking about this priest and going back to church and all, while I was busy playing cooking madness on my phone when she said something, "he'll talk about the spirit world" I was like 😮😮 "spirit world?? "

So yeah I'm obsessed...
