Chapter 5: F...father?
[A/N: Duke Trevor, everybody! That's him, up there.]
-----
"Cami...el, would you please pass me those papers?"
He almost called her by a nickname just now... good, good.
"Yes, of course."
Right about now, the Duke's sight is supposed to be glued to the red haired beauty... the scene goes like this- 'There was something special about her. Her gaze, her face, her lips, her personality, and especially her figure. The mysterious peppermint perfume numbed all men and no doubt the duke was no exception. There was speculation, then there was fantasy, but ultimately nothing lasted. For Duke Trevor lusted for her... and only her. A gentle and mother-like figure, as he painted her in his mind, her grace and elegance nothing short of a gazelle; and that fiery hair no less than the flame flowers which ignite only during sunsets.'
A devious yet sweet smile presented itself upon Camiel's beautified face.
I smiled too. My heart pumped louder than ever, while my mind silently whispered, "Action!"
She tripped coincidentally and fell on Trevor who was deeply confused but protected her, regardless. Now this is where it gets odd... especially for duke Trevor.
He is completely enamoured by Camiel, the scent of her perfume and the glow in her eyes etc. In simple terms, she is the perfect candidate to cheat with.
Go figure.
However, he also loves Melane. First, she will forever be his first love. Though I don't think that cheating with another woman is in any way, shape or form, the ideal circumstance to understand your wife better. Melane is still his rightful legal wife. The duke has never thought of another partner, until Camiel. Plus they have a beautiful daughter, me... I mean, Ria.
That reminds me, in the original story the duke did contemplate over his love for Melane for a good 20 seconds while also kissing Camiel, which is sick by the way.
Thank goodness they haven't begun anything yet.
While Trevor flailed about, Camiel inched closer and closer. Unfortunately, all I could see was her butt and the Duke's nervousness. He gulped, taken in by her provocative charm.
No worries.
After all, villainess's are forever the late group. This was my cue. In 5... 4... 3... 2... 1!
The door swung open.
"F...father?"
Nobody moved.
A chilling silence lingered in the air. Trevor turned into a statue. He was holding her chin and leaning forward just a moment ago.
Spineless bastard.
As soon as he saw me...er, Ria, the shock most likely overpowered that toxic rollercoaster romance, or whatever.
Phew!
"W-wh-what's wrong sweetheart? Why a-are you out of bed so late?"
With an absurd amount of guilt written all over his face, he pushed Camiel aside and came rushing towards me.
Is he hoping his daughter saw nothing just because she's sobbing in front of him? How dumb is this guy?
"I... I... I..."
I balled my fists and tried to wipe away those never-ending fake tears.
Don't laugh, don't laugh, do not Laugh!
Normally this level of dreadful acting skill isn't supposed to work, but the naive and flustered duke was filled to the brim with pity. Meanwhile the obnoxious demoness continued to sit there, not even flinching back in our direction. Talk about rude.
An eye for an eye, Cami.
Next came my favourite part. I wobbled towards him, leaned closely to his shoulder and tightly held onto him... covering his splendid white shirt with snot. A sh*t ton of it to boot.
"I...I... I'm sca-scewed, dwadwa... (I'm scared, dada/daddy...)" I added with more snot and tears while I had the chance, "I, I c-cwa'n sweep! (I can't sleep!)"
"Oh, honey... did you have a nightmare? Is it because I scolded you earlier today?"
I didn't answer. Just let the waterfall take its course.
The Duke's attitude had just changed and clearly we were in an uncharted territory. His remorse was a bunch of cr*p to me. Yet, what an odd situation, here we are... he is pitying me and I am pitying him, but the most pitiful character is the one he just tossed aside.
Now, onto Phase Two.
