Chapter Twenty-Seven: New Year's Eve
(New Year's Eve ~ 2006)
Christmas had came and gone. I didn't really care for the holiday as I have no one to share it with, besides Katherine, but this year she was busy doing her own things. So, I was left alone in the St. Regis hotel. I had used compulsion to get my stay there extended and all for free. We all know that we love free things, especially five-star hotels. Though tonight was New Year's Eve, I had actually made plans to go to a event that was being held in the Hotel. It's a yearly thing that they put on for customers and the hotel selects a charity for a fundraiser. It was truly a special occasion. Sadly, I had no date...
I stood in the bathroom in my suite, looking into the wide-length mirror that was placed above the sink and it's counters. I'll say it again, it's so fancy. I remember the backyard was the toilet, how times had changed. I finished applying my golden eye-shadow, seeing that both eyes were perfectly covered. My lashes thick with the mascara that was on them. I had gotten my hair cut, and it was shorter than before as it would be passed my shoulders. My lips a light pink glossy colour. I missed being dolled up, I suppose being on the road, you had to have a more natural look.
I twirled in this beautiful floor-length black dress, as it really suited me. If only the boys could see me right now, their jaws would hit the floor. I smiled softly to my reflection in the mirror, as I thought of the boys. But the smile on my face dropped as the boys were playing on my mind. I know I should've heard something from them by now, but I imagine they were busy dealing with cases and brotherly stuff. I also didn't want to use my magic as Katherine suggested on doing after her little visit. I needed space for them and not to worry so much about the Winchester men.
I sighed deeply, as I moved from the bathroom mirror, my heels clicking against the marble flooring before entering the carpet of the bedroom. I grab my black clutch bag from the bed, and headed for the hotel door.
I walk out and let the door shut behind me, as I swayed my hips down the hallway. Seeing couples all dressed up fancy and going down to the lobby. Without even knowing, I had made it to the elevator, and as I pressed the button to call it, the doors swung open. A young handsome man stood in the middle, he was wearing a simple tuxedo, his hair brown, his eyes were the colour of whisky. His jaw sharp, his facial features were strong and attractive.
"Going down?" He asked, with a smile on his face as I just nodded to him as I entered the elevator and stood a few inches to the left of him. The doors shut, and the lift started to move down the elevator shaft. A few moments of tense silence filled the air, as I could see him casting his gaze upon me. "May I say you are looking radiant tonight," his voice was soft to hear. I took my gaze towards him, as I offered him a thin smile.
"Thank you," I replied, my smile fading as I let straight back to the golden elevator doors.
"Are you going to the New Year's Eve Party?" He had asked, probably working up the courage to ask me if I had a date or something stupid like that.
"Yeah," was my only reply, as I just wanted this ride to end right now. Just like magic, the doors opened, and we were at the floor which was holding the party. "Nice meeting you," I spoke as my heels clicked on elevator floor, before I exited.
The hallway were filled with guests all dressed to the max, as this was a celebration. I followed the guests through through the hallway to a room. The room was large, a piano was being played, as I walked in. The whole room was decorated with New Year's things, balloons, party hats, a massive clock on a stage, tables that were set out fancy. People already drinking, chatting away as there was only Ten Minutes to Midnight.
I grab a glass of champagne as a waiter passes me with a tray. I took a sip of the bubbly liquid as it slid down my throat. I stopped in my tracks as I watch the male pianist play a sweet melody for us all to enjoy. I only came to this event because it was rude not too, I was practically living in the hotel, I needed to be seen out and about. I took another sip of my champagne, as a few male eyes lingered on me. How nice...
I gulped the remaining liquid from the slender glass, before placing it on a random table near-by. Why did I put myself through this? I wasn't going to have any fun... Suddenly, I began to hear my phone in my clutch bag. I received the phone and pressed the answer button and put it to my ear.
"Happy New Year," Katherine's voice came through the phone, as I smile to myself.
"You're about five minutes too early," I spoke back to her, giving a chuckle at the end.
"I was getting it in early," She retorted back as I had spun on my heels and walked out of the room, making my way a hallway. "I'm sorry I couldn't be there. I had other things to sort out," Katherine apologised to me, but I understood.
"It's fine, I understand," I had came to a window in the hallway, that out looked the city of New York. "I'm glad you called though...Happy New Year Katerina," I spoke softly, as I ended the call between her and I. I stared at the night sky, the stars shining brightly as I just stood there arms folded over my chest as I took in the beautiful sight which was New York.
Moments had passed, and I began to hear people from the room, cheering as the began to count down to midnight. I smiled to myself as my reflection appeared in the window. "5...4...3...2...1..." People were yelling in the room, as midnight had hit, it was like a timer, the fireworks began to shoot through the clear night sky, people yelling 'Happy New Years'.
"Happy New Year Sam and Dean," I whispered to myself, as different coloured fireworks exploded in the night sky as I watched them in 'awe'.
"I hope your man has a reason for leaving you here?" A strong male voice had pulled me from my thoughts as I spun around to face the man who was in the elevator with me, he was holding a glass of champagne. His whisky coloured eyes gleamed over my face.
"I'll have to wait until one arrives," I threw a quick eyebrow up at him. As he let out a chuckle to my response.
"Isn't there a rule about being alone on New Years Eve that you're suppose to kiss a stranger," he smiles to me, hoping that I would give him a kiss, but I oddly found it sweet. I couldn't help but giggle at his comment, as I've heard it before. "Damn it. You've heard it before,"
"Just once, from a young Elvis Presley," I smiled at the memory of the past. But I see the man give me an odd look and realised what I had said. "Type," I quickly recovered myself, flashing him a warm smile. "Happy New Year," I moved past him, before going back to the lift, and calling it to the floor.
I waited for a few moments as the doors open and I got in, pressing my floor number, before the doors closed and the elevator went up. In no time, I was back at my room and sat on the edge of my bed.
I rubbed my temples, as this night couldn't get any worse. Suddenly, there was a hard knock at the door. I spoke too soon... I got to my feet, and went to the door, swinging it open to reveal the man from about five minutes ago. "Three times in one night. Be careful, you know what they say about the third time," his eyes seemed to linger on my face for a few seconds.
"Third times a charm?" He asked raising his eyebrows.
"No I was going to say stalkery," I laughed softly, as he give a chuckle, before he rubs the back of his neck. "But may I help you?" I asked, as his eyes went to the floor.
"Yeah actually," he replied, no emotion held in his tone, as I looked weirdly at him. His eyes railed back up to meet mine. But the whisky colour in them was no longer there. Only bright yellow.
Before I could do anything, I was flung back into my room, toppling over backwards my bed, before hitting the floor with a thud. As the door to the room had been closed shut. "You know Ann, I thought I should have played along some more seduced you-" I stood back to my feet as I locked eyes with the demon. "-Maybe get some action, but I could tell you wasn't interested,"
"Oh how unlucky for you. Now what do you want!" I snap through my teeth, as I put my hands into fists, restraining myself from attacking.
"A prize to be won," he gave me a wicked smile, before he could try anything else, I thrusted my hand towards him, making him go flying backwards, hitting the hotel door, breaking the wood.
"Dream on," I replied, as Yellow eyes was back on his feet quick, but he just smiled at me, like he was winning. "What are you smiling abou-" before I could finish, my head was twisted forcefully, snapping my neck and killing me.
Blackness surrounded me, and the last thing that was on my mind was. What the hell did Azazel want with me?
