Chapter Twenty-Nine: Bitch is Back
I sat in one of the pews that wasn't rotten or broken in half. It was sturdy, and held my weight but in time it would break. It's just going to be one of those days. It had been hours since Azazel had visited me, and told me about his plan. And I was totally powerless to do anything. Plus, my magic hadn't come back to me, so whatever he did it's going to be take a long time for my magic to return.
I had tried using my vampire hearing to hear what was outside, but I couldn't hear anything, it was like the spell placed on the church was blocking me from hearing anything from outside. God, he's like gone the extra mile just to keep me locked up and from hearing anything. But I suspect that it was his plan, or I was going to be a big reveal...
I took my gaze to the bordered up windows in the church, to see that the light outside begin to dim, meaning the sun was setting and the spell on the church will soon be lifted and I can get the heck out of this place.
Suddenly, I heard a floor board creek, as I shot my head around to the sound from behind, but no one was there. I squint my eyes as I stood from the pew, treading carefully along the pew. I came out of the pew and stood in the middle of the aisle way. My eyes still squinting to see if I could find anyone there...
"Getting colder," a male voice had made me stop in my tracks, as the voice came from behind, making me roll my eyes as I turned to face those yellow-eyes again... "No need to roll those pretty green eyes of yours. You'll be out of here soon," he stood right in the middle of where the priest would talk about God and so on.
"And I'll be gone like the wind," I replied back to him, but he twisted his face into a smirk like there was going to be another catch to his game.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that," he took a few steps forward coming off the platform he was on. "You're a piece of my puzzle, you can't leave when you're meant to be here," I shook my head at Azazel, as this was sick, but realisation hit my face as I wasn't going to run. If Sam's here, I need to help him. "And by the look on your face you know why you're going to stay," he gave me a wicked laugh, as in a blink of an eye he had vanished from in front of me. Demons, you can't keep them down...
I cocked my head to the windows and there was only a small amount of light left, meaning the spell will be broken in a few. I rushed towards the church door, as I hope this Boundary Spell was actually bound to the sun and nothing else. I arrived at the door, and swung it open, I see old wooden houses all of it rotten as this town hasn't been used in a long time. I slowly extended my hand to the threshold, but my hand went flat onto the spell, but it felt gooey and weak. I reclined my hand back, as the last bit of light had gone under and night had fallen upon the town.
I slowly reached out again, but as my hand neared the threshold of the church, it went straight through, the spell had been lifted and I was freed from my prison. I smiled to myself, as I stepped one foot out of the door and felt the fresh air hit my cheeks. I walked down the muddy path way, as I held my the bottom of my dress up. Mud flicked up from my shoes now and then as my heels got stuck in the mud and I used my strength to pull them up.
Half-way down the muddy road, Yellow eyes just appeared out of no where, a few feet away. "Sticking around are we?" He mocks me, as I just paid him no mind.
"I'm off to find Sam, and get him the hell out of here," I replied strongly at the demon, as I moved past him as I counited down the road.
"And will he wonder why you're here? With the rest of my children?" Azazel spoke, making me stop in my tracks, as he was right. If I go and find Sam he'll wonder why I'm here and his wild theory of me being like them were right. But I couldn't just leave him here and I couldn't leave him here. As I turned around to speak to Azazel he was already gone, his laughter filled the air, and entered my ears, making me cringe at his laughter.
I couldn't leave Sam and I wasn't going to leave Sam here. I'm going to find him in this god-forsaken town and try to explain to him what happened. Without outing myself as an monster...
I wondered down the road, as I held my dress higher this time around as it was draping on the floor and getting soaked with mud. I came to a house with lights, it looks like someone was in there. I crept up the wooden steps, treading carefully and trying not to make too much sound. I took a step forward to open the door, but the floor board creaked under me, making me freeze in position as I pulled a face, knowing that they would have heard that.
Suddenly, I heard heavy footsteps coming towards the door, and me not wanting to stick around. I pushed off from my legs and ran in a blur behind the side of the house, peering over to see who was coming out. A few moments later, an army dude came down the steps followed by the one of only over-grown man I know...
Sam...
I smiled at myself as I'm seeing him for the first time in a few months and he's looking good right now. I mean, just look at that ass while he walks.
I snap that thought out of my mind, as he walks in one direction and the army dude went in another direction. Now was my chance to talk to him. I watch him move swiftly through the street of the town. It was now or never...
I stepped out from hiding, and crept my way towards him, as I knew he'll have a hunch of him being watched and followed. I'm such a stalker right now...
Sam stops in his tracks, as if he was listening to something, probably my movements. He abruptly turns and holds up a iron rod, threateningly. I stood there with a 'really' look plastered on my face, as his eyes lit up in shock and surprise.
"Gabby," he breathed out, as he lowered the iron rod.
"The one and only," I spoke waving my hair out of my face as a smile started to appear on me.
Without any warning to Sam, I ran towards him as I counited to hold my dress up but once I was near I let go of the bottom of my dress and wrapped my hands around his neck. As he held my waist as he welcomed the hug and hugged me back. Sam seemed to live for this moment, that this was very special for him right now.
"It's good to see you Gabby," he squeeze me tightly, like he didn't want this moment to end and for us to break apart, but we did. His eyes green/hazel eyes looked over my green ones but soon he wore a frown wondering why the hell I was here. "How are you here?"
"I woke up in the Church," I pointed up the road, best not to mention how long I've been up there. Sam's eyes drifted down to my dirty outfit as he raised an eyebrow. "I was at a New Year's Eve Party, before I ended up here," his eyes went soft as something was planning on his mind. But before he could say a word, a howling scream came to ear, making us both cock our heads to the house before we hurry inside.
We both rush inside, Sam leading the way through the hallway, until we entered the room together. A girl was standing over a body, crying at the scene. "Sam! I just found him like this!" The girl cries out as she looks back to the torn up body of a man. His blood was strong as it was near enough all over the room.
"What happened?" Sam didn't like the sight.
"I don't know!" The woman replies as tears rolled down her face.
"How'd that thing get in?" Sam asked, as I took a quick look around to see the room lined with salt, meaning they were keeping something out, most likely a demon. "Where were you?" Sam had asked turning his gaze back on her.
"I just went to get some water from the well. I was only gone maybe, like, two minutes!" The woman chokes out as she was crying hard over this, her hand went over her mouth trying to silence the cries.
"You shouldn't have gone outside. Ava, we have to stay in here--" Sam states to her, before he cuts himself off. Ava as in the girl we were searching for, for about a month. "Who did that?" Sam had pointed to the window as the salt on the window had a line through it.
"I don't know, maybe Andy--"
"Andy wouldn't do that," Sam had cut Ava off before she could finish as all I could do was watch. "Ava, that line wasn't broken when I left," Sam stared the woman down and I could feel the tension filling the air. "Ava," he states more strongly.
"What? You don't think that I--"
"I'll tell you what I think: five months. You're the only one with all that time you can't account for. And that headache you got? Right when the demon got Lily," Sam had cut her off once again as he took small steps towards her.
"What are you trying to say?" Ava seemed shocked with what Sam was saying.
"What happened to you?" Sam pushed on, trying to break her.
"Nothing!" She states her voice raised as Sam stares her down for a few moments. But she drops the act and laughs a little to herself.
"Had you going though, didn't I?" She began as she wiped the tears from her cheeks. "Yeah. I've been here a long time. And not alone, either. People just keep showing up. Children, like us. Batches of three or four at a time,"
"You killed them? All of them?" I had pipped up as I stepped closer to Sam, my eyes locked onto her.
"Honey, I'm the undefeated heavyweight champ," she sounded dark and evil, whatever she was five months ago, was long gone.
"Oh, my God," Sam spoke through clutched teeth, as it made him sick.
"Don't think God has much to do with this, Sam,"
"How could you?" Sam had asked her, as he would have never dreamed of her doing that.
"I had no choice. It's me or them. After a while, it was easy. It was even kind of fun. I just stopped fighting it," Ava replied to Sam. God I wouldn't like to see her as a vampire...
"Fighting what?"
"Who we are, Sam. If you'd just quit your hand-wringing and open yourself up, you have no idea what you can do. The learning curve is so fast, it's crazy, the switches that just flip in your brain," she laughs as she was clicking her fingers like a switch. "I can't believe I started out just having dreams. Do you know what I can do now?" She seemed impressed with herself for gaining power.
"Control demons," Sam's voice seemed angered because the girl he knew was long gone.
"Ah, you are quick on the draw," she states as she puts her hands to her head. A cloud of black smoke had made it's way through the window as she was summoning it. Sam and I looked at the window as it was getting in. "Yeah, I'm sorry, Sam. But, it's over,"
Suddenly, I hear a snap of bones and the demonic smoke leaves through the window and disappears. I turn my gaze back to Ava to see the army dude, behind her as he snapped her neck, killing her instantly. Before he let her go to the floor, the body going with a 'thud'.
"Well that deals with that," I spoke as I looked between the boys. "But please can we go now before anything else decides to attack," I said, looking to Sam as he gives me a nod.
But I had a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that this wasn't over...
