Chapter Thirty-Five: End of the Road
Black demon smoke continues to pour from the crypt, as I took my gaze up to the sky to see, individual trails of smoke parting in different directions. This wasn't good...
"What the hell just happened?!" Dean yells, as my eyes cast to the tomb stone by the side.
"It's a devil's gate. A door to hell," I yelled over the sound of thunder and lighting that strikes the sky.
"Come on! We gotta shut the gate!" Ellen yells, as we all stand up from behind the tomb stones, and headed over to the door, as flashes of lighting was around us. I could see ghosts outlines running through the cemetery as the escape from hell. Sam and Ellen had the left side of the door, as Bobby and I had the right side of the door.
We all begin to push the door, forcing it close, but the force it was giving us was massive, with my strength it wasn't doing much, but I could go awhile. The four of us grunt as we continue to push the door close, every second we push the door the little more it comes to closing.
"Dean!" I hear Sam yell, as he let's go of the door, and goes to help his brother. The door pushes us back slightly, but Bobby, Ellen and I keep pushing, using our strengths to push it shut. I turn around, using my back to push on the door, as my eyes cast over to where Sam was going, I see him go flying back into a nearby tree. As Azazel hovered over Dean, who was struggling.
If I let go of the door, it will be more hard to close and the longer it's open, more monsters can come out. But the boys need me now or never... "We need more muscle," Bobby yells, as I barely hear him with all the noise around us.
"We don't," I replied as a plan was forming in my head, a crazy one, but it was worth a shot. I spun around on my feet to face the door, placing my hands on the cold metal. As I closed my eyes, and focused my magical energy. "Phasmatos Tribum, Emnis Abortum, Fasila Quisa Exilum San," I chant lowly, but I don't think Bobby heard me to due to the thunder and lighting that crackled through the sky. The spell would allow the door to be magically pushed from our-side, but it adds on with our three strengths.
I could feel my magic working, I feel the energy pulse through me, and to the door. I focused hard, as we all began to push harder on the door, and it was closing more quickly but there was still a massive amount of force that was pushing back.
Bobby, Ellen and I continued to push the heavy door, and it seemed forever, but we had made progress with it as it was nearly closed. Suddenly, I heard a gun shot, whistle through the air. I could feel the magic radiate from behind me, and I knew what emits that much energy...
The Colt was fired, and it had hit a demon...
Just then, the doors of the crept shut, and the two separate engravings on it began to spin once again, in different directions before stopping, making a shape that wasn't the right one. I sighed, as that was over, but tons of demons and who-knows what-else was let loose...
The three of us turns around, as Bobby and Ellen were panting due to using their power to push the door. My mouth hanged open slightly, as I didn't expect to see a certain man again...
John Winchester...
Dean and Sam look to their father as they wore surprised faces, but held tears in their eyes. John walks towards Dean, and places his hand on his shoulder. Dean was teary, and so was John. John see's Sam coming forward slightly, as he took his gaze to him, both of them nodded, as words didn't need to be exchanged for them to feel something.
With one last look to Dean, John steps back, his arm dangling back to his side, as a bright white light started to emit from his whole body. Then he began to flicker, in and out, before he went 'poof' into a cloud of smoke for a second before it vanished and John was gone.
Sam had shed tears, as Dean was fighting them back, but he was still clearly upset. After a moment to themselves, they went to stand over Azazel, who was now dead, due to the Colt. They've been hunting that demon since I've met them, and this was it, it was their moment to relish in it. So, I left them too it...
I walked back through the woods, until I see the Impala and the truck Bobby had driven here. I lean on the part of the hood of the Impala, as I brush my hand through my hair as this has been an eventful day...
I look up to see Bobby and Ellen making their way over to their truck, but Bobby met my gaze, and broke away from Ellen. "Hey," his tone was soft, but his expression was all over. "About what happened with the gates-" he began, but I held my hand up to him, to stop him from talking. I knew where this conversation was going, he must have heard me.
"Bobby, I can't do this with you now," I said to him, as I stopped leaning and turned to face him ."So-" my eyes connected with his. "You're going to forget what you heard and saw when we were closing the gates. We were just using our strength to push it close," I state through compulsion, as I felt my iris go large then small, compelling him.
He blinks with a blank expression, before he snaps out of the trance, and smiles at me, before walking away. You got to love compulsion...
I let out a deep sigh, as I didn't want to do that, but if he knew, then he would tell the boys, then they would start asking questions, and I couldn't deal with that right now. But at some point, I will have to tell them...
Just then, I hear heavy foot steps coming towards the Impala, making me cast my gaze upon Sam and Dean. Dean has a cut on his forehead, where he was thrown by a tomb stone. Dean comes passed me and opens the car door.
"You know, when Jake saw me... it was like he saw a ghost," Sam replied, stopping Dean whatever he was doing and shuts the car door, to hear Sam out. Sam scoffs for a moment, as I took my gaze to the left as he bottom was parked next to me. "I mean, hell, you heard him, Dean. He said he killed me,"
"Well, he was wrong," Dean states he leans against the car door.
"I don't think he was, Dean," Sam took his gaze to his brother who looked right back at him. "What happened? After I was stabbed?"
"I already told you," Dean replied, as he kept a straight face.
"Not everything," Sam barked back, but it was more in a soft tone.
"Sam, we just killed the demon. Can we celebrate for a minute?" Dean stresses out, as he didn't want to go into that with Sam at the moment.
"Did I die?" Sam states after a moment, his words choked up, and I couldn't bare to look at them, this was on Dean to tell him, not me. "Did you sell your soul for me, like Dad did for you?"
"Oh, come on! No!" Dean lied to his brother. I feel Sam shift as the weight came up slightly from the hood, making me turn to look back at them, to see Sam facing Dean.
"Tell me the truth," Sam's voice was soft and gentle, but he stares at Dean, urging him to tell the truth. But Dean, didn't reply as he looks out to the woods, and sniffs. "Dean, tell me the truth,"
"Sam," Dean said gently, as he didn't make eye contact with his brother, as he didn't want to admit to him, that in a year that Dean would be going to hell and leaving him.
"How long did you get?" Sam's voice broke as he spoke the words, as Dean looked back at his brother. But I couldn't speak up, this was between them.
"One year," Dean states, as Sam nods clearly upset, as tears filled my vision. "I got one year,"
"You should't've done that. How could you do that?" Sam's voice sounded angry at Dean for doing this.
"Don't get mad at me. Don't you do that. I had to. I had to look out for you. That's my job," I see Dean have tears in his eyes, as this was all emotional.
"And what do you think my job is? Gabby's job?" Sam states, as he brought me into this. I see Dean take a glance at me for a moment, his eyes glistening with the tears in them.
"What?"
"You've saved my life over and over. I mean, you sacrifice everything for me. Don't you think I'd do the same for you? You're my big brother. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you. And I don't care what it takes, we are gonna get you out of this," Sam states, as I see Dean smile at his words. "Guess I gotta save your ass for a change,"
"Yeah," Dean replied, his eyes locked with Sam, as he knew he would do it.
"And I always save both your arses," I said with a chuckle, as I came forward, coming to stand between them both. "And I wouldn't change a thing," my voice went soft as I cast my gaze to them both. "Because you both mean so much to me," I cracked a smile at them both, as we soaked in this moment...
"Well..." Ellen's voice had pulled us from the moment, as we turned to look at her and Bobby. "Yellow-Eyed Demon might be dead. But a lot more got through that gate,"
"How many you think?" Dean's tough manly voice came back to play. He can be a sweetheart when he wants to be...
"Hundred. Maybe two hundred. It's an army. He's unleashed an army," Sam states, as we all took worried glances to one another.
"Hope the hell you boys and you Gabby, are ready. 'Cause the war has just begun," Bobby states to the three of us, as it was our job to clean the monsters out and deal them justice...
"Well, then..." Dean states, as Sam and I turn just in time to see him smile. He turns and walks towards the trunk of the Impala, with Sam and I on his tail, as he lifts up the trunk hood, and pulls out the Colt, and throws it in. "We got work to do," he states as he places his hand on the trunk hood before closing it shut...
I smiled widely at both of them, as this was going to be another adventure with the boys...
But deep down in my heart, I know I have to tell the boys, but it never seems to be the right moment, but I hope it all changes...
